10M

in 75 min. on the dreadmill. First 9M @ -2.5% grade with two 2x4s (3 inches) under the back of a 6 foot long treadmill bed. Didn't feel near as hard as Boston pavement, but I was able to picture running down the hill out of Hopkinton and the backside of Heartbreak past BC. Aerobically, it didn't feel that tough because it was downhill, so 7 of the 9 miles I kept it at MP (8.4 mph or 7:08 p). Last mile I took out the 2x4s and ran a slow +2% grade. Finished with some core and a stretch.

Keep running!

Tmill again today .25 walk warmup 1.25run faster pace than yesterday .25 walk cooldown then stationary bike 20 mins 4.50miles.
Still very easy don't want to backslide.
Frank thanks for the note yesterday looking forward to first strides.
Don

90 minutes

45 min on the elliptical, 45 on the Nordic Track. I am beginning to sound like a broken record...

Speaking of broken records, Susannah B. and her relay partner broke the female relay course record at the Pemberton 50K in Colorado. They were fourth overall with their 3:47:01, and beat the 1st men's relay team by over an hour!

Congratulations, Susannah!

Congrats to Susannah Beck

that is awesome! Dave T.

Still going...

I ran outside yesterday, and a couple of times inside over the last week. Today, as I have access to dozens of boats, I decided to take them for a ride. I ended up crashing a bunch of them, but that's not my problem. Later, I'm going to access the empty houses here, probably steal some stuff and then burn them down, but again, no one told me I couldn't. Ahhh, it feels good to be a lunatic.

Mike must be

roomates with Judson at B.R.M.H.

Yup

Although last night he spent the night at Zap.

WOAH

I finally know what's going on!

I think being the poor-college guy that hasn't ever sent in my official eden membership attributes to being out of the loop :). I'll work on that.

In the meantime,
Talk about a bunch of garbage overall. The pariah of MDI running has seemingly reared his head again. Anyway, moving forward.

The Harvard meet went well sunday. Split in the 10:20's for 2miles before feeling like i was going to give birth (short reasoning for really needing to go to the bathroom), would have likely ran in the 16:20's for the full 5 I felt. Such a dumb start though, over 25 guys on the track...and being out on the corner, some guys felt like a shufflestride was the way to go...by the break, everyone at the normal start had overtaken and broke away seemingly.

JCaron dominated in the 14:30s/40's, he just needs to be challenged consistently in training and racing...and he can do some special things I think.

55-60 mpw. No races this weekend, irish road-rover the next.

Hope everyones well,
Chris

6 miles....

Mill dam loop. Very slippery in spots. Nice evening for a run.
I see we are back on at edenathletics.com what's up with that?

zero miles

Down with a bad cold this week and I'm forcing myself to rest. My stomach and chest hurt from coughing so much so I'm counting that as a core workout..probably works as well as crunches and sit ups.

I've mostly been doing indoor cycling workouts this winter. Can't wait to get my bike back out on the road. I'm signed up for the Mount Washington Autoroad Hillclimb Race in August and I've got a lot of preparation to do for that one!

My running goals for the year are all tied up with the Acadia Triathlon again. Running is still a relatively weak component of that event for me. Last year I ran an 8 minute mile pace..which was great because that's what I had trained to run. I'd like to get a bit faster this year so that I don't have to make up as much time on the bike (my strongest event). Are there certain types of running workouts I should focus on to get faster? I'd like to shot for a 7.5 minute mile pace..but I don't know if that's just too much improvement to go for in a single season when running isn't my main sport.

Carol

I'm impressed Carol!

I can just barely handle one sport. You will have a great season! That Mt Washington race, that's a big hill!

Carol, I haven't looked at it of late

but in the past there have been some very knowledgeable bikers post on the Hill Climb board. You can pick up a lot of hints and free advice from people who've done the mountain.

the mountain

Hi Bruce,

I'm really lucky because there are a number of riders on the island who have raced Mt. Washington many times...including my cycling training partner! It is a formidable climb and I'll have to get different gearing on my bike. This year the goal is to just make it up to the top and learn about the mountain..... and hopefully not break my chain and end up carrying my bike on my back most of the way up!

Carol

Carol

I bought a road bike at the end of November. So far I have managed to ride on the trainer without crashing, so I am making progress! This summer can we do some Cadillaps together? Please?

My bike's name is Chatter. She is high-strung and high-maintenance and I love her dearly.

Cadillaps with Aylie

Hi Aylie,

As soon as Cadillac clears the Cadillaps will be begin! My legs are itching to get off the trainer and on the road.

What kind of bike did you get? Road? hybrid? mountain?

Carol,

I bought a road bike - a silver Cannondale.
I'm working at Beech Cliff again, so I'll be on the island at the end of June. Ohhhh Sand Beach I miss you.

sweet bike, Aylie

Look forward to riding with you. The ride from the Somesville firestation to the Beech Mountain parking lot is a great climb so maybe we should do a couple of those for fun as well!

ya, um Carol, 8 min pace

I'm going to have to get busy if I'm gonna try to keep up with you; forget about the kayaking and biking. I watched you and Judy last year, tough cookies for sure.

keeping up with ginger

so, ginger...if i recall i could barely keep you in sight last year at the George Schaefer run!!!

21 spinning,core

like Chris G. repeating my workouts although mileage on bike increasing as knee inflammation reduces.Nice 5k cgat save for mother nature calling.I agree,JCaron is a talent.Like yourself he is at the right age to do some big things. Dave T.

Jeff

Ya, Jeff called me the other day and said he tried to run 14:10 at the USATFNE meet. Said he ran the first 1 1/2 miles on pace and then faded a little, but still won by a lot and ran 14:38. By next year he'll be around 14:00.

He comes down for a week at Zap in March.

Good luck JC

and others getting ready for Boston.Yeah,I was in a 5k with JCaron last summer in Mechanic Falls.Big hills in hot weather,Moxie 5k.He won it by quite a bit. What was noticeable was he didn't look worked at all afterwards.Like he didn't break a sweat. Dave T.

Quote of the Day

Evan wanted me to post this while he plays Bunker in cribbage.

You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you cannot pick your friends nose.

Ya, that's deep.

tell Evan that

good quotes are always welcome, especially if he wants to start a daily log!

Cribbage is fun. Why aren't they letting you play? You can play with three, deal 5 cards and put one in the crib. Or get Brendan to play and you've got teams.

I'm

writing workouts for some people.

ya, i'm one of those people

save me a room at BRMH, my nervous breakdown went great, thanks.

indoors outdoors

I was hoping to get home in time to run outside today. didn't happen. I'm taking care of some chickens for neighbors who need some help with that, and between getting counting the hens and getting the straw out of the doorway and finding the eggs and cleaning out the corn, I didn't get home till after dark. When is that daylight savings change coming? So, in the end 3 miles on the treadmill.

daylight savings is March 11

My anniversary!

And

The day I get back from Jacksonville, I'll haved to remember to switch my watch so I don't miss my flight.

long run

that would make for a nice long run. Finally, you'd take more than two hours to do a long run. See how YOU like it.

Another day

another run. 4 mi. And I am being well behaved, firmly biting my tongue. Putting my trust in the justice system.

5 plus miles ellipti-row

Double Workout - 15 Miles

9 miles for lunch, 6 miles for dinner. Basketball in the afternoon. Crazy stuff.
