Thank you for the support on the MDI course Sunday. It was great to see Judi, Don & Jean, Brian, Mark, Bob 7 Vanessa and anyone else I missed. it makes your day to hear the many of the voices out there cheering for us and all the other runners. I had a chance to see Suzanne sreaming past the 25 mile mark. Peter K. By Peter K on 5 June, 2007 - 06:01
The report from the NipMuck Marathon, Chaplin, CT. Conditions were very rainy wet/ humid/ and muddy amking for a very technical course. It was real easy to hit a muddy area and ski for several feet making your decision making criticle in avoiding bigger obstacles such as rocks and streams. A very good turn out from the state of Maine including Craig Wilson, Richard Collins, Bob Dunfey, Roger M., and myself. Ran pretty solid with a few tough spots to run through along the way as this was not a peak race for me. Fun non-the less. I still finished 5th overall despite being fourth in the 40+ age group. Now ready to run the torch run this Friday and help all those great kid's in the special olympics. By Peter K on 27 May, 2007 - 07:31
Hi John, I have not talked to you in awhile. Hope everything is going okay and you have no injuries. Are you doing the Torch Run this year? Do you know who else will be there? It would be great to run with you. Sincerely, By Peter K on 21 May, 2007 - 06:31
Reort from soapstone mountain 14.5 trail race. Raining at the start and for most of the day here in Somers, Ct. Ben Nephew led all day and from the start. I had a good start in second pack of five where I was the second runner by mile 2 only to give it back on the flats as four from the pack passed me back. On the next hilly section passed everyone back excpet for the eventual number two finisher. Second half of the race was extremely muddy and I was not able to close any closer than thirty yards on second place. This is the second time I have finished third here the other being pre-surgery when I had to run a 1:43 to place on that day. Long drive home and pick up my kids. Looking forward to a slow easy run to stretch it out today. By Peter K on 7 February, 2007 - 18:29 | Event Report
The Ellsworth Rec is organizing a snowshoe race at the Woodlawn Black House Trails this Saturday in coordination with the Ellsworth Winter Carnival. The registration begins at Noon and the race is set for 12:30. I am not sure of the entry. Sincerely, By Peter K on 27 January, 2007 - 07:41
Hi all, Should be a great day in the woods as we have some snow forecasted for this Sunday so if you want to have some fun and get a workout in then come on down to the Craigbrook Fish Hatchery for the 6th version of this event. This helps to benefit the GPMLT which is securing a large tract of woods from developement and still has to repay their loan. Cost is a 5$ entry for a day of fun. Registration at 12 Noon and the event begins at 1:00 P.M. Walkers are welcome too. Your support will be appreciated. By Peter K on 20 January, 2007 - 09:00
hi all, The recent weather has conspired to push back The Schoodic Snowshoe event plannned for this Sunday back to Sunday, February 19th at 1 P.M. The snow dept. which was already borderline at 4 inches at best in spots has been reduced and iced over in places -Ideally we need about 7 to 10 inches of snow dept. If anyone does want to meet out there for a run with crampons please let me know as I am thinking about being out there anyway this Sunday. By Peter K on 15 January, 2007 - 06:43
Call it an almost Snowshoe run. Temps were close to 21 degrees with a very slight breeze. A light dusting of snow on the ground of about an quarter of an inch. Shannon Horton ran the second fastest female time on this course bested only by Cassie Hintz's 15:06 in 2004. Great day to run and a lot of fun.I got to pace Shannon for a while and run with Tom. I am not sure if this was Tom's best time on the course as I remember he ran in the nineteen minute range at least one other year too. Had a late morning run in the mountains today. Ran the circuit from Beech Mtn. across Mansell, Knights', and Bernard down to Bald Mtn parking and return for 14.8 miles that always challenge me. Who could pick a better day to run the trails in ANP. Happy Trails. By Peter K on 14 August, 2006 - 05:34

Ran in Catskills Escarpment 30k. Ran into local runners including Harry B. By Peter K on 15 July, 2006 - 07:34 | Training Talk
This week has been about the same for my training as I have been able to follow since end of May. Total of about 35 miles more or less. Usually I have to train only between 3:45 and 5:15 daily after working a full eight hours on my feet. This week like normal I mix some running on carriage road and some on trails. I normally do not train on any paved road. Sat. no run today. Sunday 13+ miles I ran long around the mountain and at the top of big hill ran up trail to Sargent Mtn., over to Gilmour Mtn., and to Parkman. Monday 4 miles I ran on mixed surface trails up Day Mtn. over to Van Santmor Trail near Traid and down. Back on the carraige Rd. to trail closest to Rt.3 Tuesday 8 miles I ran up Caddy from South face Rt. near Black Woods CG and return in 57 minutes. Wed. 8 miles I did the same run in 55 minutes. Thursday 6 Miles I ran eagle lake with Chris G. Friday 3 miles I ran up Champlain Mtn. on beachcroft trail and return 24 minutes. Sat. ?. By Peter K on 21 June, 2006 - 22:20
