I was just filling out my ballot and noticed that there were no nominations for webmaster. Shouldn't that be an elected position? Do we have nominees? Craig M. By Craig M. on 4 October, 2005 - 17:33
http://www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer/index.html?centerX=-71.116¢erY=42.366&zl=3&fl=h-e-h-0 Is a really neat site that allows runners to calculate miles (and calories burned, if you are in to that) using the Google maps. It's particularly useful in an urban area like Boston/Cambridge (which is where the link is centered at the moment). It's a little harder to use on the carriage roads and trails on MDI since they are not in the map data base, but a lot of them show up well on the satellite images. So, if you have a complicated route, involving roads, carriage roads, trails, etc., you can actually figure out the mileage pretty well. By Craig M. on 17 August, 2005 - 07:16
I was able to be up in Bangor when Peter's case was heard yesterday. He did not contest the charge, but had sent an eloquent letter detailing some of the difficulties and inconsistencies with the Park's way of approving and issuing permits. He and the federal prosecutor (a runner who is as slow as I am) agreed to a fine of $100. I felt a little sorry (not really) for all the Park people who were all dressed up in their best uniforms and had the videos and photos ("with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one") that nobody ended up looking at. I need advice. For the last three months (since the Boston marathon) my right knee has been giving me trouble. It is very often painful when I run. It is almost always very stiff feeling. Sometimes when it moves to one or another spot, I feel sick to my stomach. Things get a lot worse when I have to sit in a plane, train, bus, car (or some combination), for a long time. This is a knee that I really fouled up playing hockey when I was 14, four months in a cast, etc., but that was a loooong time ago. (it left my foot turning out, but, otherwise, I have had no significant problem for over 30 years.) By Craig M. on 26 January, 2005 - 19:14 | Club & Site
I just want to say that I think we have the coolest webpages around. Thanks Matt, and everyone on whose shoulders he's built this. I've been mucking through the pages of a whole bunch of Boston-area clubs today, trying to decide whether I want to join one or another, and I've just gotten back from an odd trip in West Africa where I learned about the worldwide World Bank Harriers (who turn out to be a much better group for slow guys like me to run with than the US Embassy Marines); the Harriers have great webpages. But ours look better. |
