Forcast as warm and dry; the day was anything but. Cold, foggy and very windy wasn't bad enough to stop these hardy souls, who raised $130 for the Give Chris (Vincente) a Hand campaign.

The 15th annual run up Cadillac, held on the first Sunday in May, will take place in just two weeks.

The run will begin at 9 am from the gazebo at the Bar Harbor Village Green. The course is along Mt.Desert St./ Eagle Lake Road for approximately two miles, then onto Paradise Hill to the Base of Cadillac (3.1 miles) and onward to the Summit. Refreshments and transportation back to the Village Green will be provided. Clothing choices should take into account that the temperature atop Cadillac is typically 10 degrees colder and much windier than downtown. But the view is worth it!

The annual 10k Cadillac Mountain Run will be held on Sunday, May 7th at 8 am in front of the Bar Harbor fire station. We finish at the Cadillac summit. Extra clothing and snacks will be waiting. And limited transportation back to town will be available. Please write it on your calendar.

Last year, 14 runners participated. The weather was perfect and spirits were high (about 1500 feet high). With a suggested voluntary entry donation of $10, we actually raised $160 for the charity of the winner's choice. Last year, that was a local organization: Alstom Syndrome International of Mt. Desert. There was a nice write up in the MDIslander.

Well, it looks like we're going to have a pretty good turnout this Sunday. I have had several phone responses to the announcement in The Islander. The Islander editor, Earl Brechlin, will be taking pictures. Craig Crosby, an Islander reporter, wants the results Monday.

As you know, the tradition of this social run is that all donations go to a charity or nonprofit to be chosen by the first to cross the finish line. The suggested donation this year is $10. In the past, we have donated to the Southwest Harbor Animal Shelter. Other possibilities you may want to consider are the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, the Historical Society, the Jesup Library, Friends of Acadia, the Seacoast Mission... The MDIslander wants to report where the proceeds go. That sound like some pretty good publicity to me.

Not a speck of snow or ice anywhere in the roadway. But, Man is it cold up there. Wind chill was a full 30 degrees below the level in town.
