yo, pink skies, morning

retail therapy

Gryffindor is shopping for a new trainer or rollers. (I wore through the aluminum roller on my trainer).

Shopping is fun :D

Boston 2010....

...registration is closed.

I signed up Thursday night

and by Friday afternoon it was closed! It's more than 2 months earlier than it ever closed before.

Ahhhhhh!

What do I do?

Run NY

Run NYC, it's the next best thing.

When I realized

that there was no waiting list or other way to possibly squeak in to Boston...this was my very next thought. 2:50 to qualify? Good to have goals anyway.

5 nice miles EL...

...with Judy, Haydn and DeLaney. We all took turns pushing DeLaney which was nice! We tried to talk Judy into joining us for breakfast at Jordan's, but she opted for extra miles instead.

Got to chat with Michele for a moment (sure hope those lungs of yours feel better!) and I left a little note for Juddy in his car. He was probably out running a hundred miles or something... :)

or something

I got in 28 miles, all on carriage roads in just about 3:30. About 26 for Susannah, although she walked the last couple so she got in 28, it just took longer. We started pretty slow and kept it pretty easy. I wanted to get done so I ran a couple 6 minute miles at the end to get it over with. Felt better by speeding up. It was pretty fun to suffer a little. Funny thing is it's the most time I've ever run on the carriage roads, but I've actually covered more distance when I ran 5 loops of eagle lake in about 3:03ish back in 2004.

I stuck to water and GU. Had my camel pack on and my running belt, so I had more than enough water. Tried one of those cliff shot blocks and those damn things are aweful. Coming from someone who eats just about anything and doesn't complain much about food, cliffbar should throw that shit away, aweful.

Good route, from Eagle lake we headed to Parkman, then Brown mnt., then the east side of Hadlock and up around the mnt. Down past eagle lake and down to Jordan pond. Over to little long pond, some loops on grass carriage roads and then over to the amphitheater by way of chris Torrey hill and back toward jordan pond. Back to eagle lake the fast way possible.

Judson

I was going to leave you some post run treats in your car, but you were gone by the time I drove back through....

Nice run, you and Susannah both! Wow!

I like shot bloks

particularly the margarita flavor, which have extra salt.

Mixed and Matched

1 mile reps on the track
1.5 mile reps around town
30 min on the rower
10 miles on Bentley
20 min of core and leg weights

Picking things up gently after minor illness last week.

Yup

When asked by a certain biochemistry prof on a certain biochemistry midterm, "This year's Nobel prize was given yesterday for what?" I wrote, "I read the New York Times, the Guardian and Nature online but definitely not the day before a test. One could argue that I deserve a bonus point - for dilligence and application - for not knowing this."

I got that exam back with a :D on it. Knock on wood I'll still be :D when I get this next one back.

EL

Ran a nice EL today, with strides in the last mile. Saw Judy and Don headed the other way, then Judson in the parking lot waiting for Susannah after their > marathon excursion.

Dusted off the headlamp last night for a run out Schooner Head with Julie, joined by Shannon on the way back. Night running is funny, it's tough to head out but I really enjoy it when I have company.

11 altogether

first a quick trot with Suzanne, Hayden and Delaney; Delaney gave me a cheer along the way. Then found Don finishing up EL and turned him around to do it with me. Fun runs

Nada...

for today. Yesterday I got in a really nice 6.65 with a friend in Camden/Rockport. I'm back now, and looking to run long (10-12) tomorrow. Anyone want to join me?
