Good luck at the Turkey Trot!

2h20 cycling, 2 mi run

mayday variety run hip got sore again

Alyie

Maybe as you make your way back to running, you shouldn't run two days in a row right away? Maybe every other or every third day? Just a thought. (((hugs)))

10 miles SWH Lake Stretch

1:28:44
Not too bad considering at mile 3 I almost quit and went home. I am glad I battled through it, the rest of the run was much better. I developed a sore throat last night and still don't feel great. I wonder if we will ever get rid of this illness completely that has been hanging around here the last month? Ugh.

two of the guys I trained with in Arizona are racing IMAZ today

Go Jeff and Billy!

Brian (Stover) has been on email back and forth with me giving me updates. I feel so totally and completely spoiled.

Turkey Trot

It was a beautiful day for it, especially compared to last year.

I went out too fast and had to overcome some weak moments on the way back. But I'm satisfied in the end, because I gave it a good effort and lost only a couple of net places after the turnaround, both to high schoolers who outkicked me right at the end despite my best efforts not to get passed. I also shadowed the first-place woman (don't know who it was), who looked like she was fading a couple of times but kept rallying and finished a few places ahead with an excellent time.

I don't know my place or official time yet, but my watch time of 17:42 is a CR by 57 seconds and a nice way to finish the season. There were lots of Eden folks there to make this the great social event it always is, including Ginger, Shannon and Adria and Zoe, Brian, Judson, Judy, Don and Jean, Diane and RJ, RK, Michelle, Tom, Peter K., Jeff and Mary Alice . . . and apologies to anyone I'm forgetting!

Turkey Trot

Mark you won a turkey for 1st place team Judson has it
and Shannon won the big prize $ 300 plus dollars

I ran 20:32 on my watch 30 sec.ish c. r . for me
and thanks to Judson winning to many turkeys i came home with one of his which is good we are have 30 plus people for Thanksgiving so the second bird will be great , so we won't be forced to eat Veggies just to get thru until desert!!!!!
This cookie monster is not about to go P.C. on this holiday .
and i think I heard the Thanksgiving day run from Eagle Lake will start and 8 am

the woman you were behind

is the girl I work with - another grad student in my program.

Nice

She's a heckuva runner. I thought I was going to catch her on the uphill, but she worked really hard going over the top and gapped me. Then I got close again near the finish and her kick turned out to be quite a bit better than mine.

Turkey Trot

I agree, close to perfect weather.

I was happy with today's results. 22:41/7:34 pace. I felt comfortable, even going up the hill at the turn around. Things got pretty intense the last .50 mile, especially the last quarter. Exactly how I wanted to feel. If I had gone out faster I probably would have really crashed in the end, running even slower. Course PR by 18 sec. I don't count last year, horrid conditions- almost 2 min. faster this year. If it had been a 5k I still wouldn't have broken my 23 min. goal. Pretty far off actually, 38 sec. or so. Something to shoot for next time, I'm thinking Flattop!

Great job all! Nice work Suzanne on a doozy of a course. Awesome job beating your Y 5k time. See ya at the track on Tuesday!

OH MY WORD

That's great, Shannon! I hope the award had something to do with running 22:14 while pushing a 100 lb jogger! That's pretty amazing.

Results are up on the Sub5 website.

missing

from the results 66th was me

Witch Hole

figure 8 from the visitors center, Paradise Hill first, with an extra PH lap at the end. I'm calling that an even 7 miles but I may be cheating a little. 57:59.

turkey trot trot trot

I enjoyed my run today. I concentrated on my breathing, and my legs weren't tired. My cross-training may actually be having an effect. 26:26 (8:49 pace ). I'm happy to have finished easily and not feeling like I was overextending.

Great running, everyone!

And I can't think of anyone else I'd rather see win the Cash Turkey than Shannon! Sounds like a great day for Eden!

OMG

I finally broke under 7 min pace (6:59 - 20:57) probably because I battled it out with the two County girls (Angie and Linda). Mary Parson won my division with a very strong race. It was a great day. Congats to all that ran.

OMG Michele

PMS will be stopping by tomorrow to interview you as to how my name/ place was omitted from today's results
he believes that you may be the only person who had any interest in making sure i did not finish ahead of you in the results
and he heard all the threats you made about your race plans all week long.
( I tried to reason with him but you know how those "cop" types are once they get on a hot lead )
so sleep well and come/up with a good story for the interview

we maybe doing a 5k in Rockport on Sat. if you want to go it starts at 9am and is $15 bucks we are checking the weather first

Rockport 5k

What race is that Tom? Sounds like a good excuse to go get cheeseburgers at the Owl's Head General Store.

Talking about burgers, Luc an

Talking about burgers, Luc and I ate at McD yesterday. Wow, it cost me $13 for pure junk. I ate a very large burger and it was quite good. I also was fed some Kirby Swedish fish and my throat is no longer sore. Finally, my pr may be the result of a Kirby tip. This is scary.

Oh!

Is that all I need to battle my sore throat? Some Kirby fish? Tom, where are you???????

Michele, congrats on your awesome PR! Wow!!!

I'm very close

to trying those artificially-flavored, red-dyed, corn-syrup fish and see if they'll cure my hip. But it's a last resort.

uuuhhh

the secret of eating at McD is the $$$$ the dollar menu you should not have paid more than 5/6 bucks to feed both of you with extra leftover
and Michele you were worried about everyone reaching in the fish bag

in the new p.c. world of colds/flu the hands are fine
it is the elbows and sleeves that you have to watch out for
like when you left the school rubbing elbows with the crowd !!!
i wonder how long germs stay active on Dri-fit and Goretex

How long do germs stay active on Goretex?

According to the Mayo Clinic, flu germs can survive anywhere from a few seconds to 48 hours outside the body -- give or take, depending on the specific virus and type of surface. Nonporous surfaces such as doorknobs, counter tops etc., the survival rate is longer than non. So... you'd best wait at least a few seconds before wiping your nose on your sleeve after someone with the flu has coughed on it.

it is at the ymca

i found it on coolrunning.com

turkeys

I couldn't carry 4 Turkeys so I gave one to Tom.

Mark and Peter's turkeys are in my freezer whenever they want them.

Thanks Judson

When's a good time to stop by?

Whenever

I'll be around most of the day tomorrow.

Just cive me a call, 356-0001.

Off track betting

That six cents I put on Shannon, Zoe, and Adria turned out to be a very good investment.

Bought a feast at the Orono Student Union after Nora's concert.
