Slimmer Doesn't Mean Fitter
[Hat tip: Anna]
...for thought.
Anyone who likes the idea of an anti-gravity treadmill...
After losing my 75 pounds and getting to my VERY lowest, I am carrying about 10 pounds above that. I have been at this weight for about a year, give or take. It really stresses me out that I can't seem to get back to 125....but maybe this is a good healthy weight for me. I guess I will know on May 16th...
Doesn't " ALWAYS " mean fitter As the author states though lighter is often faster.
I've found my race weight to be just where Mary says I'm getting too thin.
For long distance Ironman races and the big volume buildup before I tend to drift down to what feels like pretty low body fat levels for me. When measured at the races, a perk available at tri race expos, I'm still just in the average athletic range for men, 8-9%. Many age group men race ~5%. I tell myself that's them, not me but can't help but think if that might , you know, be faster on race day.
Did not mean to leave out a word of the title. Really. Goodness knows I like how race weight feels.
Lucky guys can get to that body fat % without too many health ramifications; go below 12 when you're a female and wind up in a world of amenorrheic hurt. I know why we need the puppy fat but it's not fair!
roads about 15% clear in Castine and it's only the hills.
knowing that rk has an aversion to wet stockings, locals have spotted rk 7 min pacing across the crest of a hill. It is believed but not confirmed that he is expecting something or in a nervous haste, causing the incessant pacing but we all know his inner fear of wet stocking syndrome or the Brits reinvasion of Castine
8 min. 7:30 pace, 2 min walk, 8 min. 8:30 pace. 4 miles all together. The hardest part was the first 30 sec. of the 2 min. walk, I was seeing stars. That's right Mark, I didn't alternate between 8.0 and 7.0, Karen made me do it! I also did Group Power.
I'll be away for 19 days, mainly Florida. I hope things don't fall apart too badly while I'm gone:)
We will hold down the fort while you're gone. :)
Safe travels and have a blast!
Bring 'em - you'll need 'em.
Word on the street is it's cold in FL. Yeah, I know - but that is what I've heard.
Have fun there cold or not.
Tee hee.
Pretty snow today. Bring your nose mitten Ginger. We will do our best without you.
....at Harbor House.
37 minutes on the bike trainer this morning and 10.7 miles in the evening with Brian for some of it. Some strides after.
Fom Y and around the drive OC road and back in, think it's 10. Some abductor, stretch, and leg curl on the nautilis. BE THE BENDING BRANCH.
30 minutes on the stationary bike and 30 on the elliptical, all at the Y. First time on a ET in a while, odd motion that throws me off balance. I'm pretty good going backwards, but forward man, I got to hold onto the bars or I'll fall off that ride. Nice chat with Becky while on the bike, she was smart to stay away while I was on the ET.
anyone running long saturday morning?
long ride to Houlton for the 5k
running long in Camden to the Snowbowl for Toboggan Nationals :)
