What's your workout?
walking. 'Milled it.
...Marty and Rusty Elliot, as well as our esteemed Vice President Mark Wanner. Eden is WAY better with you all on the Team! :)
6.1 miles around town this morning. Pretty nice out.
I see you cruising by my window...in your shorts.... 3:18 pm
Well I had my half tights on, so it wasn't too cold going south. Just 16 minutes of random fartlek with random rests. I asked the Hubbell's if they could pick me up out by Blackwoods so I ran out that way and Lid was waiting for me when I arrived. I really wasn't in the mood to run back by the tarn with just a couple of days to go before the race and mentally I think it's smart to do something that is going to make you feel confident since this workout physically probably will make little difference. So thanks Lid, it really helped and I'm making them some hearty veggie soup for being so nice. It was still cold in the shade going south, but nice in the sun once I got up on top of each hill. I really enjoyed the sun.
Jogged a mile+ out to the mile mark of the marathon course and then started the farlek. 5-minutes hard, 2 easy, 2 hard, 2 easy, 4 hard, 2 easy, 1 hard, 1 easy, 3 hard, 2 easy, 1 hard. Fairly structured, although completely random since I made it up as I went and how I felt. That took me right to about Lid's car at Blackwoods and I jumped right in and did a mile+ cooldown back in Bar Harbor.
You're gonna have a great race, I can feel it!
only begins to describe the joys of this ride. 15 min w/u then 8, 7, 6 min. etc. at progressively harder efforts with 1 min recoveries. 15 min c/d. Had to stand for the last minute to keep my heart rate up there. Woof!
Rode in honor of the MtW race roster.
Shameless Plug The head librarian at Bar Harbor asked about buying a copy of Brian`s novel so he generously donated one. Go check it out! Or better yet pick one up at Sherman`s. I love that book. The web site has a great trailer.
...that Brian HAD written a novel! Oh my....talent ABOUNDS in all three members of your family! Thanks for sharing!
PS- And oh yeah, glad you had a great workout, too. hehe
Congratulations Brian! I will check it out
1M warm up, 6 x 800 with 400 rest on the treadmill, 3/4 mile warm down.
3:00 2:57 2:56 2:54 2:53 2:51
Faster as you went, nice.
You going to Midwinter?
I have to go to Wiscasset and Portland on Saturday, and not sure if I can pull off going back down again on Sunday. Anyone going down and back, let me know I could easily get persuaded and make it worth your while!
Nice 9 min pace, really pretty out.
I don't recall swimming in a pool for the stated purpose of exercise ever in my life until today. I went to Cadillac mt sports this morning, bought a suit and goggles, then hit the Y pool for a total of 500 ungraceful yards. I found it difficult to coordinate my breathing. The swimming motion felt really good. I may need some lessons. 30 min on the stationary bike after the swim.
I grew up swimming in lakes, so this breathing and cadiovascular component of the pool definitely took some getting used to. I'm getting better though, and really like the grace of swimming. it's a good workout, very different than running
There are many talented swimmers who can help you get fast -- I am not one of them! I only started swimming laps 10 years ago when I broke my feet and had to stop running (duh). One thing that helped me get comfortable when I first started was making myself exhale fully. Once you focus on it you may see what I mean.
Anyway, congratulations and I hope you have fun with it!
After group power this morning I got my 10 x 400 yd at 8:40 pace with 2 min rest between in on the Y treadmill. Finished off to 5 miles total. New machines coming in over the weekend, will be interesting to see how that goes.
I encourage you'all to try out the YMCA in this time period. There is a membership drop in "small fee" for group power, spinning, and other classes. Boot Camp on Thursday is free, pool, and free weights/nautilis. The membership is based on an income sliding fee schedule.
BANFF is here for X-Treme enthusiasts that love big ski/climb/kayak with grass roots footage and great soundtracks. Guaranteeed to pump you up at the Grand , tickets a Caddy Mtn Sports. There you have it Read a B Hubb Novel, do the Y, and catch a flick.
Nice workout on the ET plus 3 miles walking with Vanessa & some kettlebell swings (getting better form now). I am feeling lucky today as a toe I thought was broken is feeling much better today and I hope to try a run tomorrow. My toe and the doorframe got into a fight Tuesday night and the door won. I really thought I'd broken that rascal this time but its making a nice comeback. Life is good in the hood. Go JohnS!
Mill workout, with 6 x 1:30 @ 9.6 mph and 1:30 @ 7.6 mph recoveries. Just a pick-me-up after feeling pretty crummy the past two days.
At this point I'm hoping to run Midwinter, but my plans are fluid and involve meeting a friend in Brunswick and heading down from there. Sorry that makes me unable to do any ride sharing, but I hope to say hi in Cape Elizabeth if I do in fact make it there.
Are you still looking for a running partner for Saturday morning? What is your pace? I may know somebody that would be good for you. He's not up for 20, but would be willing to do up to 14.
no run, group power!
Tomorrow, maybe a snowshoe run w/ Tom K after work. Tom?
i am leaving at noon to go the Caribou for the weekend
:)
This is great, I'm solidly laughing at a bunch of your funny comments today guys. John I'm thrilled you're in the water and loving it. I love how half tights are theoretically 'warm' wear in your world Judson. Nice work Brian on the novel and Liddy for getting the word out about it. Rob you are one-stop shopping for area info, thanks! What is boot camp?? Ryan, if I weren't moving my sister on Sunday I'd jump in the car with you; it'd be fun. Nice intervals by the way! Alyie I went for a walk yesterday and am shocked that you can patiently keep going for eleven miles. I hope you get well soon. Better luck next time in your duels with the door frame Bob!
Anyhow, I need to get in touch with someone headed to the Midwinter Classic. Sorry short notice; wish it was because I needed a carpool. My number is 664-6144.
