Race Report

I started about a quarter of the way in the crowd which kept my adrenaline down and didn't let me go out too fast. I found that 'perfect stride' after the first mile and just kept going with it until after 7 when I decided to start pushing it harder. The last mile was all-out and it surprised me how fast I could still go after 9. The wind threw me for a loop afterward; once I crossed the finish line I struggled to take in a full breath until I got in the school.

In spite of that, it was an excellent race. I set my PR for 10 miles with ease. I'm feeling real good for the end of the month.

Slight Correction

Preliminary posting on-site showed me at 1:08:36, official results posted me at 1:08:38 and at 83rd place (which makes the last mile at 6:21, more accurate to what I timed on my watch). Still a significant PR. :)

Race

Thanks again to the Hubbell's for the updates. Brian drove down real eary this morning and we went to Ihops for breakfast.

Autumn ran really well for her first 10-miler. She was very cheerful in the last 1/2 mile and she had to deal with a heck of a wind the final bit.

Brian was out and about on the course giving splits which was nice since I didn't wear a watch. Robbie and I ran together for the first couple of miles then I told him to run smart and I sped up just a hair. He ended up running almost 50 seconds faster than I ran last year and ended up running the 3rd fastest time ever on the current course. We are going to have a heck of a Cabot team with the two of us leading the team. As for the race, first mile was about 5:04 but it felt like a 5:20 effort and even with the wind felt easy. I only know that split because a clock was at the mark. First 2 miles were pretty windy, but I knew once we made the turn south at around 3 we'd have a tailwind. 5-miles in about 25:28, clock at that mark too. Most of the section between mile 3 and 7 I was about to run 4:55-5:00's I think. Then the wind hit again for the final bit. Last mile in 5:09, but it was a sub 4:50 effort. Didn't plan on the CR and at 3 miles when Brian told me I was at 15:31 I got curious, but still didn't think it was possible, but after the few miles with that tailwind and banking a little time I started to think I had a shot at it. Although as soon as I started to think I told myself to shut up and run and think after the race. I saved a lot of energy for the final 2 miles because I knew they'd be windy and tried to stay in control by thanking all the people alon the course and when Brian drove by around 6 miles I told him how pissed I was that the other top Mmainers weasled out of the race and I started sprinting. At that point I was determined to get the record even with the headwind I knew was coming.

I will not be at B2B this year because I have a bike race that day, and that will piss some people off, but hey, they had a chance today and I was ready to go under 50 if someone pushed me.

Congrats Judson

on the CR. That's some awesome work, as always.

Damn

Autumn just reminded me that I had told her weeks ago if I'd won the race I'd allow her to paint my toenails. Shit, she just broke out the gold colored toenail paint. Damnit.

8 wild, windy miles SWH/Manset

I actually tried to run easy today...sometimes on my long runs I get listening to my music and go too fast. I averaged an 8:58 pace. I ran under the Friendship V twice for good luck. One gust of wind almost knocked me over on the Shore Road...wow!

Enjoy that pedicure, Judson!

Congrats to everyone today...great PR, Spot....and GO AUTUMN! :)

6 easy miles in the hood & 30 min ET

plus some kettle bell swings.

Great running Team Eden. Congrats on a great race and a course record Judson. Lots of PR's on a cold, windy day. Thanks for the updates Brian & Lid.

6.23 mis not mls

Some quick kliks around town. Not cold; snowing but not sticking (much); raw little wind. I think the un-plowdedness factor is directly implicated in the pathogenesis of minorly acute and majorly saddening metatarsophalangeal sorrows.

My ugly runner feet don't need a beautician - they need a doctor. I should put on some bright pink polish before any medical care here just on general principle - the podiatrist in this town is HOT.

Gli Ko Jen, Team Eden! :D

Midwinter 10-miler: RESULTS

congratulations to all who ra

congratulations to all who raced today. I was looking forward to read the reports. nice job autumn. a kid skied into me at the lift line this morning resulting in a serious strain to my right knee. I know I will be fine but cannot help being worried.

Midwinter

First, congratulations to Judson and Spotter for their great performances today. A CR on a solo run in the wind is quite amazing.

I've been fighting a cold all week and probably ran too hard. I was hoping for a good workout and maybe 6:45s but I came through 3 miles at 19:38 feeling OK so I decided to keep going at that pace. I reached 5 in 32:22 and 8 in 51:45, but as Judson said, the wind and, as he didn't say, the gradual uphill for the next 1.5 miles took a toll. I ended with 65:07, still quite a bit faster than expected, and had no idea David T. was right behind me. I also had no idea that the 50+ leaders were all right in front of me.

Re: the results, I often end up as Warner, but I'm stumped at how I came to be listed as living in East Blue Hill. Wouldn't that be in the ocean?

I now have no voice and am feeling a little shaky overall. Oh well, it was good to run a race again.

oofff

good road trip and solid times. And the indians named him "Painted Toes"
