What's your run?

10 mLs

easy 88 min. Stride felt good.

Rotten morning: half-hour mopping due to Moaning Myrtle incident; burnt tongue on coffee; hit head with car door and broke glasses. The latter, at least, I can fix with a spell.

8.6miles

Good morning run today. Was a little cold but nice sunshine. Didn't run yesterday at all (one of those days when life takes over) and a busy day planned today so I went early. 8.6 miles in 68 minutes. Not my best effort but I'll take it.

Nothing

for Guppy today. Nothing exercise related anyway. Term papers, presentations, lab projects, lab write ups, exams...

7 miles (track workout)

1.5 mile warmup
5 X 1200 with 400 recovery
.5 mile cooldown

5:47
5:41
5:38
5:37
5:29

Feeling good and strong.

RK...tag, you're it! Your turn for a track workout! :)

5.1M

wanted to run easy but ended up running the fastest I ever have on my Wadsworth Cove route in Castine. I didn't think it was possible to run as well as I did - but I felt good and worked hard. I'm happy with the 7:33 pace considering the major hills that are in my way and the 3 days of SQL training I've been in.

SQL

Stands for "Structured Query Language" in my world. What has advanced bioinformatics programming language to do with running?

Now "LSD" for "Long Slow Distance" I'm familiar with.

I'm glad your run felt good no matter what acronym you've been using in training, though.

SQL and Running

Yes - Structured Query Langague. I just *finished* 3 days of intensive SSRS architecture and overview training for SQL Server 2008. It's been hard to keep EverythingTogetherWhenYouGetSoWrapped up in VB expressions. What does this have to do with running? I finished.

Gotcha now.

I thought you meant it to stand for some sort of advanced athletic training plan. My misunderstanding.

I have spent much of the term on mechanistic models of various processes and the math (Brane Calculi, Markov stuff, pi-processes, etc) and computer languages (mostly python which is easily extensible to computational biochemistry and C++) which go with it.

You work with computers, I take it?

20 minutes

A mini run to lots of you guys, but it felt like plenty to me. Busy day and I'm happy it started with a run.

65 min ET

7 x 3 min repeats with 2 min recoveries. Good music trumps newspapers and podcasts while working hard. Best song of the day was "Na, Na, Na, Na, Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye." Too fun. Life is good in the hood.

that IS the song I should hav

that IS the song I should have sang to my boys and husband when the Canadians scored in OT at the Olympics. Instead I got up and yelled YEAH!!!!! They turned around and looked at me funny, of course they were cheering for USA. Best hockey game I watched in many years.

Hockey Game in Canada

Michelle, I like your taste hockey.

Some belated notes on the game from Canada: the break between normal play and overtime was far too long - we amused ourselves by playing broom hockey in the living room with a beer can.

When Canada scored, the windows were open and at that moment we could hear cheering up and down the street. Everyone in my house got up and shouted, "Let's invade America! We're all hosed - it's now or never!" Conjure the image of 35m Canadians in red and white warpaint driving south en masse in the snow plows, brandishing hockey sticks and snow shovels and shouting "Some game, eh!"

There is nothing customs and immigration could have done about it - the new gulag style border crossing building at Calais not withstanding.

In Canada we don't have the death penalty, but we might make an exception for whomever scheduled that game the day before a Monday morning.
