rabbit rabbit, white rabbit!
2 x Cadillac from Seal Harbor Beach. Two hours total cycling and it felt awesome; trainer time served me well this winter.
I thought that section of road was closed for repairs! Did you find it at all bumpy?
ORN: Bike ride with Judson down to Gorham trail head, then hiked back to town via Champlain, Beachcroft Trail, and Hemlock Road.
sections of "cyclocross."
Ran flat 4 at Eagle Lake yesterday. BARELY made it, legs were dead from prior day. I HATE starting over again. BLECH. Anyway, I knew I was taking today off, so I am sure I will be the better for it. Hopefully will feel great tomorrow.
You know that it will get better in a few weeks as you get in shape.
For me that process always lends insight into how much harder it is for the real newbies who do not know that eventually running will (mostly) cease to be miserable. It will still be hard - but not hideous.
1M warm up. 10K race.
Beautiful day in Orrington. Went out too fast and paid for it. I'd like to think my legs have been tired all week :0). Mike Bunker missed Evan's CR by 3 seconds (32:09) and Elizabeth Brunton set the CR for women running 39:24.
Age Group Records were set by Judd Esty Kendall (60-69) 42:00, Julie Brown (50-59) 45:36 and Elizabeth Brunton(20-29) 39:24.
93 Finishers!

My first run after 7 months. Dr. Corbin and Dr. Goodenough diagnosed Plantar Faciitus AND Tarsal Tunnel in both feet (how lucky can a man get) and recommend surgery. While I am still debating whether I want to do this, they told me that I can't do more damage with running and when it is not too painful to go for it. So I went for a 30 minute run at EL and I loved it. Although I have been keeping up endurance with swimming by body clearly is not used to the running anymore. My plan is to build up slowly and if all goes well join the Sunday crew in June.
I hope your renewed running ventures are enjoyable; I think it's great to be out running even if just to be out on trails
Nice EL run this morning with a large group of women and dogs, one jogger, and one biker. Nice run in Orrington Mr. Tunney.
Orrington- nice disciplined run. 18:04 through 3, 36:12 through 6, ran comfortably hard through the end...and I am pretty sure it was SLIGHTLY uphill and upwind on the way back. At mile marker 5 I thought I might have enough in me to track down Austin--as foolish as that thought was, it was motivating enough that I passed a couple of guys over the last two miles and was not caught by anyone. Nice confidence building run.
What a beautiful morning!
I'd thought of going to Orrington, but while rk merely thinks his legs may have been tired, mine have definitely been tired. And tight. And still a bit sore. So instead of short and fast I opted for long and slow today. I ran from EL and did the biggest loop I could from there, or almost. To Aunt Betty - Around the Mountain wide - Hadlock Ponds - Little Long Pond - Jordan Stream - Bubble - and back. The only thing I missed was Day Mountain to the east, and I wasn't up for that! I kept an 8:00 effort, plus or minus depending on terrain, and finished right at 8:00 pace. My legs felt pretty crummy at 15 but much better at 20, so that was a little odd. But I'm happy, and 21 more in the bank.
The meeting place is the town green gazebo per tradition. At 8:00, as Shannon posted last night. It should be a nice morning for jogging up a mountain.
I had entertained going to Orrington to run for fun with DeLaney, but after the week I had, sleeping in was a much more attractive option when the alarm went off at 6am.
We ran WHP/Paradise Hill/Duck Brook and had the unexpected pleasure of running into Bob while he was biking. He told us where to find Becky (and Missy) and DeLaney and I finished our run with them.
By the way.....springy legs today! :)
Up and around Day Mountain. It is really not such a hard little mountain, Mark, once you have got used to it. A big old porcupine lives on the northwest face near the top and the two miles of downhill with ocean views on one side and mountain views on the other are as sweet as it gets.
37:15 - but who's counting? Glad that I opted against the race this morning - I was tired and couldn't find much inspiration (or glycogen) over the last half of this run. Day off for me tomorrow. Maybe days off plural. Things which should not be sore are, a little, and I absolutely do not want to spend this summer injured and wondering how badly like last year.
I want to be fast like you and capable of running a 37 min 10k on a whim :-)
Foam roll! Foam roll!
Are you kidding me? Your posted runs all rock. We are ALL counting and cannot wait to have the opportunity to cheer you on at a race! And BTW ALL carriage/park road routes are hard running routes. Please, for my sanity, no more of this BS. Thanks and keep up the hard work.
Bike trainer this evening.
I would love, love, love, to run Cadi. But don't think I'll make it. HAVE FUN up the hill!
with Diane round Jordan/Bubble loop from EL. 1/2 walking out and at end, and I had some walk breaks at the end. I was wiped out at the finish and think it was partly the heat too. Otherwise, just worn out from a busy month I guess. I felt all crumply from traveling and legs sore from road running in Delaware and Friday. Sorry to miss Cadillac tomorrow...forgot it was on the schedule.
