Happy Mothers' Day to Eden mommies!
... on the track.
today, gonna go spend the day hangin' with my mom. Back at it hard tomorrow.
And Happy Mothers Day!
with Melissa and other friends. We were treated to a cool, bright, beautiful morning run with low humidity. Happy Mother's Day! Life is good.
On a weird cobbled together route that appealed to me at the time becuase it was sorta flat. Started EL, ran Witch Hole connector then left to witch hole bridge, and back same route, then BACK over the connector (and walked back). Saw Bob, Becky and Missy near the end, and I lamented about the lack of spring in my legs. Bob reminded me it takes 10 weeks to come back after stopping. I feel kind of better...except for the 5 more weeks of torture. Suzanne I think I missed you by a few minutes. ENOUGH WITH THE WIND ALREADY.
is not being able to run at all.
Don't think about that it feels slow or that you feel out of breath, enjoy the running part of it.
I think you are right about that.
cold and windy and sprinkly.
Yesterday and today.
They came from a shorter morning run (6.5) up and around Day Mountain; a longer evening run (9.5) over the same route with an excursion up to Jordan Pond yesterday; and 2 x the same 9.5 mi this morning.
I intended this morning's run to be Eagle Lake and then around Sargent Mountain - but I took one taste of the wind and decided to stay close to home. It made it much tougher going up Day Mountain the second time this morning - knowing what was waiting for me at the top.
Have had many miles over the past eight months to contemplate the difficulties posed by hills and wind - my personal preference is for hills for which I can plan and save some energy instead of wind which is random and over which I have no ability to predict or control.
Get your distance on, Eden!
If anyone is interested in running the carriage roads in this neck of the woods, now is a great time of year to do so.
The surface is as nice as I have seen it in recent years - almost as smooth as the more traveled carriage roads around Eagle Lake. No horses - yet.
Just had a great run with JohnS and crazy Maisy. Bayview/Knox Rd./Gilbert Farm/Crooked/ Norway Dr. Loop. I felt good and strong, and was right around target pace for the marathon. The wind on rte. 3 was no fun though, wasn't it supposed to be sunny and nice today?
Looking forward to a low mileage relaxing week. Thanks Mark and Judy for your comments yesterday, I so appreciate all the support I get from Eden. It's going to be a great first marathon, I know it.
And a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there in Edenland!! Hope you enjoy your special day.
8 and change with D. Nice run and legs felt fine during the run, afterwards I'm a tad stiff. Installing some shelves for mothers day. Well...on mothers day anyway. Her request so it counts:).
...with CeCelia, Michele, Shannon and Eliott. Just the run I needed with some wonderful girls. Also got to see Bob, Becky, Missy and Anne Marie. A week to go!
Morning trail run with Shannon from Hunters Brook to the top of Cadillac via The Triad. Afternoon bike with Lid around the loop.
Very pleasant each time as both mothers took it easy on me.
Also managed to unclip several times without falling over - got a good streak going there.
I think one could write a book about the trial and tribulations of cylcists and the shoe clip.
Nice 8 mile run this morning. I am am looking forward to next Sunday to cheer many great runners at sugarloaf including Suzanne, Dianne, Josh Torrance, Tim T, Ozzy and Rk (who i think will be there), Dennis from EBS, Stan Pelletier and all the other runners whose name I forgot to list.
I plan to take part in Musselman 70.3 in early July as my B race and then Pman in September as my A race. Right now it is all about basic overall conditionning and, although this week's training tally looks like what Alyie and Anna do in 48 hours, I am quite pleased with it: swim: 4,225 yards bike: 5h05 run: 21.2 miles
if I were you - with your tri and with your weekly tally!
At the moment, I am much more interested in running well than in running any specific distances or any specific paces. Instead I have been concentrating on good posture and form, running with an even cadence and supposed details like that - and I am pleased with the effects it is having. I am running as well as I have in my life and am also planning my longer races for the fall...
A note: in the seven day 'week' preceding this weekend, I ran 15.5 miles. I was resting a sore and slightly bruised left forefoot and it has paid off. Less is more.
Those are a couple of names I know will be in the 15k. I have hopes of going up that morning to cheer on the racing crowd. If it all falls in place I'll be the noisy one on a bike. Well, one of two noisy cheering madwomen on bikes, right Michele?
Two beautiful runs that made my Mothers Day as perfect as possible. Thank you Brian, Suzanne, CeCelia and Madame Victorious. : ) We'll all heartily recognize you if that makes the accomplishment sweeter in your eyes.
Jason, hope to see you soon. We'll all be holding your feet to the fire in the nicest way possible to help keep you on track! From what Michele said, it sounds like you're doing an excellent job so far. Congrats.
today was my final loop around the Cape before the loaf. Considerably slower than yesterday! :0)
I'm planning on making the trek up to the loaf as well (as a spectator obviously). It'll be my first marathon experience and it'll be nice to get out and meet some people.
Were your ears ringing today? Nice things were being said about you on the run I had with the girls.
I am so excited you are coming to Sugarloaf! I can't wait to meet you! Yay!
It's really great to have so many people pulling for me (many of them I've never even met). That really is making the difference this time and I pretty much don't have any choice other than to succeed with my goals this time around. I have too many people that I would let down otherwise (especially myself).
Do do forget to wave to Jason who will, most likely, be riding a flashy red spider motorcyle.
Yea, the chicks dig it!
Better be cheering me on starting at mile 20! :)
