Go Team!

20 mile bike // 8 mile run

run time 64:55

Group 10 miler

Warm & humid, but the company was good and the sun was shining. I've been a bit AWOL from posting of late. Had an 8 miler Tuesday with a kettle bell workout, some speed work with our class Weds, Elliptical Trainer (ET) Thursday & Saturday, good 6 miler Friday. Anxious to be back in the woods. Life is good.

I found "live timing" Sugarloaf results

I spy:

great day, beautiful weather, I liked the course. Austin roared back into action with a great run. So good to see everyone. Congrats to my running partner Diane on finishing her first marathon. Wow! And special thanks to Michele who cheered us all on, who checked on us from her bike, who ran the last section with Diane, who supported us all.

Good job Eden!

Lots of great performances above & I'll look forward to hearing more details.

sugarloaf

Beautiful and enjoyable day at sugarloaf. Great performances by Miss D, Suzanne, Timmy, Josh, Dennis, Stan, Ozzie, Louie (who had a lucrative weekend), Mark, the Bell's, Judy, RK, Bob Bachorik, Spotter, Kirstin, Joel and bob, and everyone else who I am forgetting. Job well done everyone.

Sugarloaf

Echoing Michele's post--a beautiful day and some great performances. I know (and you know I know) that a few minutes off a goal time can be disappointing at first, but you marathoners rocked up there and can take a lot of pride in your effort. And it was fun to cheer you home!

As for me, that is indeed one fast 15k course, especially with a nice tailwind. I ran the first 10k well, but what pleased me most was to maintain the pace over the more difficult final 5k and pass a couple of the runners ahead of me in the last 1.2 miles. That made the Moose Mug award that much sweeter :-) After this result, I'm somewhat more confident for VCM, though I'll still need to ask the weather gods for good fortune and a cool day.

the loaf

Everyone did a great job today and I was glad I could be there to watch. You should all be proud of what you have accomplished. Hopefully in a year or two I'll be running right along side you all.

or maybe

or maybe I should say "in a year or two I WILL BE running right along side you all"

26.2 miles

My 5th marathon is in the books.

I am not physically or mentally able to write a race report yet. On the mental side of things, I am still feeling very disappointed with my performance today. On the physical side, I am going on 10 hours of pretty severe post race stomach issues. It started about 10 minutes after I finished, and has not let up. I have never had anything like this last so long after a race. I'm miserable. :(

Sugarloaf

Your time is very good, be happy:-) Everyone who finishes a marathon does well!

26.2M

52nd place overall - 3:21:32. First 8 went really well and may have gotten overheated from wearing an outer layer. Many thanks to Roger Marquis who helped me in the final 5 miles or so. Really proud of Scott for qualifying for Boston. My recovery has been much like how Suzanne's. I just couldn't get up after I got home yesterday afternoon. Taking an extra day to recover. My legs are very crampy as well. Nice to see everyone this weekend! :0)

Sugarloaf Restults

I felt real good in the morning and had a very good previous week with my legs so I had a good bit of confidence to start.

My mile splits seemed like they were all over the place in the first 10 miles even though I thought I was keeping a pretty steady pace. Nonetheless I was pretty encouraged when I hit the 10 mile mark. I came down off the hill and ran the next 7-8 miles a little harder than I wanted but it may have paid off.

The sun bore down on me sooner than I expected and my legs started cramping up around 14-15. I played the mental game and gutted through the last 10K and ended up doing a far better time than I could have hoped - especially mile 26 when I went back down under an 8 minute pace. (In fact mile 25 was the only mile where I went over 8 minutes.)

I crossed the line with my arm in the air. It took 8 marathons - a little over two years - but I finally got a big goal accomplished. BM2011, here I come.

Total Time: 3:08:21 (7:11 pace)
22nd overall, 2nd in age group*
35:39 after 5 (7:08)
1:11:01 after 10 (7:06)
1:45:45 after 15 (7:03)
2:21:01 after 20 (7:03)
47:20 in last 10K (7:37)

Today is a lot of rest, maybe walking in the evening. My legs haven't felt this sore in a long time.

*I didn't realize I had hit that high in the age group until seeing the live results when I got home. Apparently I had a prize waiting for me. Oops..

Finally, it was good to see people there - RK, Suzanne, Diane, Austin, TimT, and anyone else's name I may have forgotten. It's hard for friends and family outside of the running circle to get up there and cheer me on but I can always count on Eden-ite support. :)

Sugarloaf

Had a fun weekend at Sugarloaf, it was great to see everyone and you all did Eden Athletics proud. Thanks to all who cheered us on-it makes such a difference to know people are cheering for you,no matter what.
Diane, congratulations on your first marathon - you'll be smiling for weeks!!! Congratulations to all-what an awesome group.
