"... and the largest prime number went and hid in a corner."

Skowhegan Lettuce Run

won outright - 27:29. The "about" because I arrived late (like, as the gun went off), didn't know what the course was, and did an extra loop through town before someone set me back on course. It is supposed to be - according to various posters, "a 5k," or "3.44 miles." I think with my extra loop it was about four. Actual course starts downtown, does three and a half loops of the park, and comes back to town. Fun :D

Sponsored by the Farmers' Market. Very cool to run in pouring rain at a low key, community race. I won a tomato plant and a balloon.

love those prizes

I'm looking for a blueberry pie win this year. what about you?

That Machias race and pies

the real prize there would be meeting BruceB.

Silly question

Where is there an option on the site so that I can stay logged in? The home page used to be the one to load, now I have to click on it first to get here.

Congrats, Alyie!

Not sure what I am doing today. My jogger has an almost flat tire, and DeLaney really dislikes the weather shield anyway. I will probably spin in the house while she naps later.

what is it?

Could it be a stress fracture?

Pain on left outside heel. Tender when I press on it and walk, bare feet is worst, hurts when I run and then my back starts to hurt. I sure could go see my husband's cousin who is a foot doctor in town but unlikely because "stop everything for the next 100 million days" is not acceptable. Maybe I could at least get a diagnostic from him? But he gets annoyed when you do not follow up on his recommended treatment (I would too).

My goal is to make sure I can do the Mussleman 1/2 tri on July 13 so I need feedback on my plan: Stop running for 10 days and add more pool and bike time. Or do I pool jog? Re-evaluate in 10 days? I obviously do not have much of a plan, yet!

see a doctor

yes, that's the answer. if it hurts to walk, I really think a proper diagnosis is key. how many times do we talk to each other about this and that and it doesn't heal (heels to heal). and finally finally, we go to the doctor and learn what the injury really is and what we could/should do to get back to running. If you have a certified foot doctor nearby...wow...you get to the head (foot) of the profession on the first go. really. From what you say, I would get into the doc toute suite and at least get a proper reading on what's going on.

How about

you overdid it last week and your body just told you to back off. What you are not posting is that you did an unintended 13 miler on Memorial Day, simply because you had the day off from work and you could. Doesn't matter what pace, you were out there on your feet that long. That happened to be right after another double digit run you did. You are a great athlete; now be a smarter one. We all want you to be on the starting line for your goal races. : )

2 1/2 miles on a treadmill. I've given up on the double jogger and don't have a ran shield anymore anyway. It gave me a chance to survey how much stuff I have packed into my basement... another project added to the list. Yeeha.

Shannon has the inside track on me!

S - you are right and then I piled on a 7 miler w/ 5 hard ones. Sad to say but it never came to my mind that maybe I could be overdoing it just a tiny bit! Judy you are also right in saying a real diagnostic is in everyone's best interest. So, I will skip my last run of the week and will promptly go see the podiatrist if it persists. Thanks guys

well

a real diagnostic may not be in the best interest for the insurance company ( just call and ask THEM)

and it matters a lot what day of the week you start counting your miles
if you start on say Sunday
,well all the miles were a week ago so you are all set to head to Camden so see you in 45 min.

Michele

Can you be more specific as to where it hurts? "Heel" like the bottom of your foot, or heel like on the left side of the foot, behind, in front, or below the bump that is your lateral malleolus (ankle bone)?

Peroneal tendonitis would hurt directly behind the ankle-bone bump and would be aggravated by cycling and walking and running. There are also three ligaments that come together on the outside of the foot, below the ankle bump in a triangle - those can become aggravated.

Sfx is *bone* pain..

Aqua running is usually quite safe. Your best bet is obviously seeing a doc.

it hurts on the outside of th

it hurts on the outside of the heel kind of parallel to the ground really low on the foot. I feels like a bruise.

need the book back!!!!!

this mean you will not be at mill mall @ 6:15
see you there you have all night to heal !!!!
take 2 red fish and call me in the morning.

Cookies and Temp Files

Suzanne, try clearing your cookies and temporary internet files. I had some issues until I did that, seems OK now. In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options and under Browsing History you'll see a Delete button that will allow you to clear those.

Michele, how about peroneal tendonitis? I think pool jogging would be better than stopping for 10 days, but I don't really know what I'm talking about so... yea.
