Sun's Up

Jamaican Coffee

Blue Mtn coffee to start the day. No running today for me.

Sun? Where?

7 in 1:45. It's good to be humbled, right? Parked @ Bear Brook, up Champlain, Huguenot, Dorr (via North Ridge), Cadillac and down to loop road via North Ridge. Intended to complete the loop, but .5 from the loop road I managed to break my left pinky toe on a rock. Anyone who is familiar with FiveFingers shoes knows that vigilance to where feet are placed is vital, and I had let my focus lapse. Ouch. Hobbled to the Loop Rd and my beautiful wife came to my rescue.
Zero visibility on the summits, and the wind was howling from sou'west. Cadillac summit was a bit surreal with no one around and the mist whipping by. Lots of ripe blueberries! I didn't stop to pick but grabbed a few as I went by. Lots of slippery spots on the descents. I was having a great time before I met that rock!

Vibram

Those 5-finger things are FLYING out of the store right now!!

Nice!

I like them a lot- in fact, they're the only pair of running shoes I own. Running in them helps correct form issues really quickly. Many people I've spoken to have had nagging injuries in trad running shoes and have seen them minimized or eliminated with the VFFs. Of course, they make it much easier to, say, break ones toe on a trail run....

Alike in injury

I too have a broke left pinkie toe - courtesy of my own stupidity and clumsiness. I was having a great time before I dropped that tank on my foot. Mine's not bad and I hope yours isn't either.

No race tomorrow for Guppy, obviously.

Urg

Sorry to hear that, Anna. Mine is currently a festive shade of purple. I find myself glad that I have obligations tomorrow that I couldn't get out of to race, otherwise I'd be really feeling let down right now. On the other hand, if I was planning to race tomorrow, I wouldn't have done that run today.... Ah, what-ifs....

Mine's not purple.

I would describe it much more as a 'lilac.'

But as you note, definitely such a very pretty shade.

after a camper overnight last night

it is highly possible that I'll have a ZERO for the day. Soooo tired.

Excellent 8 bridges

with Shannon & Bob C riding escort for lots of it. Got to see Ginger heading out, Vanessa, & Becky. Nice running, Mike Up, but sorry to hear about that toe.

4M

out to Fort Point where I spent most of the day volunteering giving lighthouse tours. After my shift was over I noticed some strong thunderheads - with impending showers, after 1 minute into the run back, a kind neighbor offered me a lift home. Thundering Typhoons! Didn't it pour a few minutes later.

No running

Notice I didn't say "rest"....I'm nervous and stressed! LOL

Steam

A little Peter Gabriel ran through my head as I ran through the soupy air at noon. Spent the morning being lazy, watching the Tour de France, and unpacking fencing equipment. Not everyday I get to say that.

Anyway, 6 miles out Schooner Head. And it looks highly likely that I'll be able to run at the Flamingo tomorrow :-)

Wear that tie! :)
