Happy Birthday to Mark Wanner!
What's your run?
71:13
then weights, hips, shoulders.
make sure you go for a birthday run :D
how are you and how is your toe healing?
Hey guys, my friend jennifer osborn from the Ellsworth American was tasked to write a story on barefoot running. She was unable to find anyone around Ellsworth and was hoping to find someone on the island. It would be great if Mike could call or email her. Please, Please, Please. Her number is 667-2576, josborn@ellsworthamerican.com.
Thanks.
your are the one that put her up to calling me!!! PMS will be over to visit soon
no i did not. she already had spoken to you before she spoke to me.
I just happened to check the board tonight for the first time in about two weeks! I'll shoot Jennifer an email after I post. I'm back at it, maybe. Nothing remarkable about the distance (2 mi) or pace (8:00) of tonight's run, but it was big for me in that it's my first barefoot run (second run overall) since busticating my toe. It's a unique kind if fun running barefoot at night, especially coupled with the surreal atmosphere in Salsbury Cove (band playing, people everywhere). We were in the Adirondacks the last week of July (didn't make it to Lake Placid, though.) I did quite a bit if kayaking, some swimming and a fair amount of moping about my painful foot. Tried a short (2ish) run in racing flats one evening- felt good to be cruising but I was hobbling by the end. Things seem to be looking up now!
nice to hear that you are healing and thanks for getting back to her.
I've been struggling with running these days. Even with a training plan, I'm a slacker. I need to get with the program. I have just been feeling exhausted the past few weeks. Today after work I plan to do the gatehouse loop.
I'd appreciate a little peer pressure to make it to the track tomorrow.
I was pleased to slip into the 44's for my EL loop this a.m. and passed my first bike of the season (on the flats no less). Small victories, but fun victories. Life is good in the woods.
45 Arc Trainer, 30 Recumbent Bike, 15 Treadmill
as you do C25k you might consider keeping track of speed vs weight. From a theoretical perspective, you should be 2 seconds faster per pound per mile.
Thanks, I ordered a Garmin on Monday so I can start keeping better track of my speed/distance now that I'm doing more of my runs outside. So far I've found that I run a bit faster outside than on the treadmill (covered 2.1 miles outside vs 1.8 on the treadmill doing the same workout) but I don't know my exact run vs walk speeds, only my average speed.
Ran 6 X 800 ranging between 3:18 and 3:32. Met tim and derek there and also saw andy bearsley and one his kid. It was motivating to have people around.
Thanks for the good wishes! I had a nice birthday run with Kevin at noon. And I'll try to make it to the track tomorrow and will see you there Diane!
5 on Schooner Head with Mark. I felt super sluggish, he seemed to feel a year younger. Ah well. There are days when it comes easy and days when it don't. The track is gonna be great tomorrow. Diane, you don't wanna miss it...
The boys and I just got home from a 2 day camping trip in Weld. 3 days without real exercise, blah-feel like a slug. It's probably good for me to rest though. I'm still mixing it up; Zumba, cycling, running, moving into our house etc...
I would like to try running 11 miles with someone so I can run the MDI half marathon. Suzanne how about you? I can't wait for school to start so I can see all of you again at the lake. The boys aren't going to camp so they are with me all of the time, kinda wearing me out.
I will be running tomorrow, anybody going to be at the lake, 9am?
for the peer pressure, Bob, Mark, and Kevin. I'll be at the track later :)
As much as I wanted to bail on my run after work yesterday, I did not. And as much as I wanted to walk up that big hill (gatehouse loop) I did not walk one step :)
And, like Bob, on Saturday I dusted 3 bikers on the the hill on the East side of EL on Saturday. Small hill, slow bikers, but still satisfying. Life IS good in the woods.
