Go Team! (particularly at B2B)

ride & yoga

55 min & 50 min, respectively.

3 mi barefoot

including up and down Beech Mtn. Broken toe healing up beautifully. The only painful parts of this run were the stairs up the fire tower. Ouch!

Sand Beach to Otter Cove Bridge & back

just strolling with Vanessa. Got to see Bob on his bike and Donna hiking. Go Team Eden!

B2B

45:50

yeh Tom

how was the company?

Fun in MA

Got myself a PR this morning at the 10k here. It was a rolling course, and perfect weather. And my nieces cheering me on a the finish made it all the sweeter.

Hope folks had fun at B2B!

nice

Nice job Diane!!

Despite a nagging hip issue that has brought all running to a halt and a lumbar issue that has made walking difficult, I just rode 47 miles pain free. Go figure.

yeh Diane

sounds like you have a great time

Unsolicited diagnosis

From "one of those" barefoot/minimalist dudes: it's gotta be the shoes! That's all I have to say about that...

Careful

Mike,
As a running shoe buyer for over 10 years, didn't you break your toe wearing those trendy "shoes"?
;^)

Guilty

as charged

Although

In so pleading, I would further state that my injury was caused more by the klutziness of the wearer of the shoe, rather than an implicit design flaw.
I wonder if you've gotten a feel for how many people have been led to purchase the Vibrams from reading "Born to Run" by Chris McDougall, since they're mentioned fairly prominently in the book. I'd think it would be a sizeable fraction. I bought mine back before they were cool (when I just looked stupid wearing them).

BTR

I read a bunch of that book until it just felt like a John Nichols novel and I stopped. Early on it seemed like most people had read or knew about the book but 5-fingers seem to have passed a tipping point and they are totally going OFF at retail now. I've sold them to teenagers who just thought that they "looked awesome" but the minimalist shoe trend definitely got them there.

Beach 2 Beacon update

i ran 45:53
i wanted to finish in the top 2000 ended up 974 53rd of 308 in my are group
i will admit this year i had a training plan
Couch to a 10k
but traded it for the Beach chair 2 to the water/boat @ camp plan
my long run has been 5 miles
and my hill training has been 10 sec. sprints
and a couple of runs with Shannon of about 20/25 min.

So my P.R. must be from my new vitamins and the HUMMUS Shannon has had me gagging down mixed with a big box of wheat thins
i was dipping swedish fish in the hummus but it made everyone else @ camp not want any hummus so i have had to cut back on that when other people are eating
now i am trying to talk myself out of going to Blue Hill to do the mnt. run @ 11 am

5.8

with Karen and Lisa. I made it with no walking. I think having friends to talk with kept me going. Felt great! We even raced to the finish, loads of fun!!
