What happened to my foot?

20 mile run yesterday in aging shoes, the last of a 55 mile week. Now the sole of my left foot is swollen and tender. I'm getting ready for the Sugarloaf Marathon. Anybody know what happened to my foot and what I should do about it? Thanks, Tim

rule

Classic rule most go by is your long run should be no more that 25% of your weekly mileage. Personally, I break that rule more than anyone. But I'm sure it's probably an overuse injury. Either that or your shoes are dead. Whenever I run over 15-miles I try and wear a newer pair of shoes.

Could be lots of things, but ice the crap out of it, advil, keep off it for 2-5 days and if it gets better great, if not, see a doctor. All I know is i hate taking days off, but when something like that happen to me, I take 5 days off from running. 99% of the time it heals right up and who come back stronger.

Good luck, and remember, I'm not a doctor.

Thanks

But, he could play one on TV!

Dr.

Dr. Cake, that sounds good, but I still need a couple years befoe I'm deserving of that title.
