course was changed. The following might be a clue. On the 1995 race application (see Maine Running & Fitness - July issue) it says the following:

"For the fourth year the race will take advantage of the beauty that surrounds Northeast Harbor. Runners will register at the Great Harbor Museum on Main Street in NEH and will then be transported to the starting line near the head of Sargeant Drive. The race will conclude back in town at the Great Harbor Museum, also known as the Old Firehouse."

So - could it be that the course was altered in 1992?
