Had to leave the festivities early today, before collecting any official times. JC won -- only a few seconds short of the record.
Missed stopping my watch again at the end today, but think my time was about 31:20-31:15. Splits were something like 6:09, 6:13, 6:13, 6:24, 6:16.
Faded a bit over the last mile and Gary caught me. He could have put me away in the last 800m too, but instead he just paced me to an even finish -- a very friendly gesture on his part.
Good, as ever, to see the huge turnout of Crows. If I tried to list everyone, I'd miss half the names.
Full results as soon as I get 'em from Jim McCorkle.
I won something in the postrace raffle! A very nice hat. I'm also quite happy with my run...finished in 32:32, which is a new PR. Splits were 6:24, 6:25, 6:33 6:37 and 6:30. Went for a lovely swim in Long Pond afterwards.
A huge contingent wearing the Crow colors out there today...great job to all!
5:02.57 5:08.27 5:09.80 5:12.62 5:09.75
That's a 10 second spread.
I would complain and whine, but I already did that for the reporters, so you can read about it Wednesday...
I guess I really still don't know that course. Why are our 4-mile splits the slowest? I remember the hill at 0.5, the one coming up on 2, and those rollers on the last mile. But, just from memory, I would have guessed that the fourth mile was essentially just a gradual downslope. Evidently not.
Played the spectator at todays race and it was fun to see you all come in.

complete RESULTS
I'm listed as Peter Murphy of Southwest Harbor on the results :) and what about all those John Murphy clones out there today. That's what I get for not racing for a long time! What about Mike Bickford! His first race ever! Great to see you all!
John,
When I started reading down the results, I thought, "Wow!" But I wondered a bit about you turning 15 and moving to New Jersey.
Great race, in any case.
Craig Murphy
Running at the speed of light, as usual :)
A lot of people were asking today about the women's winner, Dana Parrot.
A quick google shows that she qualified for the 2004 Olympic Marathon trials by running a 2:45 in Las Vagas in 2002. Also, in 2000, she won the US 100K championship.
No need for those of us who ended up behind her today to feel too bad.
the one who met her in the Hannaford's produce dept yesterday and invited her to come run! Pretty ironic, eh? That oughta teach me not to talk to strangers.
...So saying, with despatchful looks in haste She turns, on hospitable thoughts intent.

are here.
Thanks, Ed and Chris!
to any Crows that were missed, including most of those who finished shortly after I did, during which time Ed temporarily had to change hats from that of team photographer to that of amazingly supportive, congratulatory, and overall wonderful husband.
FYI, Fred is our friend who claims to hate running and does it strictly for fitness, mostly on the Neighborhood House treadmill. He once vowed to me he would never run outside (why spoil a perfectly beautiful day in the park?) and would never, EVER run in a race. Just goes to show you what a highly contagious disease this is...
Congratulations, Fred!
Really nice photo's Ed. They really enhance the Crow web site. And the fact that they got posted within hours of the event, given your old technology (film), makes it all the more remarkable.
Kevin
have taken photos in the past. KJ's right. They're not only fun to look at, but they're a big cog in the Crow site. Thirty years from now, they'll bring back many wonderful memories.
With RK on the MDI marathon course.
Then a soak in the ocean. It's wicked foggy over there in Seal Harbor.
Thanks to all crows to make me feel again, extremely welcomed to be part of Crow Athletics. Not only was it nice to wear the singlet proudly, but it was nice to spend time at the Membership Table speaking with the many new members that were joining up.
Course was a bit challenging, I had not ever run this one before, nor did I run it at all before the race. Enjoyed the hills and the views. Had a bit too much sun after the race though! (a bit sunburned today).
Splits.
6:01 6:30 6:34 6:49 6:43
Finished 19th overall - a few seconds heavy over my previous 5M PR from the Blueberry. 2nd in the 30-39 age division.
At 6 - ran 8 miles with JC on the Marathon Course. This is the second week we've run alone!

...., compared to the final results, proves only that leading a pack is not necessarily my best position.
That's Dana Parrot, the women's winner, coming up on my right shoulder and Gary's locked onto me from few more places back. Dr. Dave is in white just to the left of Gary. And, on the very far right, partly obscured by Ryan K., you can just see Bob Hodge in a red singlet and dark glasses.
