Mother to Son

by Langston Hughes

Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor-
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So, boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps
'Cause you find it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now-
For I'se still goin' honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

Snowshoe weekend gone Kaput...

Despite the late offerings from Mother Nature today(Thursday) it is too little to late to play on again. So, with the warmer temps. forecast for this weekend the 4th & 5th I am cancelling the snowshoe events for the year. This is the first time I have not had an event in the months of January through March dating back to 1998. I ran this evening on the trails just to make sure and it was only around an inch in most spots and quite slick too. I guess mud season is upon us soon. If you would like to join me on March 28 to run for the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center in dedication to Ron Muir please email me at pktrldrt@midmaine.com I am also looking for crew that day.

Happy Trails.
