Welcome to RUN MDI!
(and Happy Birthday, Ed G.!)
...Just heard from Becky that Brendan ran 3:42.5 last night in the 1500m in Indiana -- which qualifies him now to be a National athlete at ZAP.
That's a big deal and means that Brendan's hard work over the last few years is starting to pay off.
Congratulations!
for those who don't follow 1500 times - I believe that is the equivalent of a sub-4 mile.
he can run a sub 4 minute mile.
Not sure yet whether they'll let him stay in the Maine house or if he'll have to move into the Zap facility, but way to go Brendan. A true case of how it takes years of hard work, injury, up and downs and determination to succeed.
I do believe after that effort he may decide to stay in Indiana and run the third meet in a couple days.
Congratulations, Brendan!
Brendan...great job.
Have fun Ed, it is your day to smile! Yesterday I ran double 5's for 10, this morning I did another 5. I look forward to 13 with whomever. I may be a few min. later than 9:30 due to the boat schedule.
:-)
I'll see you there.
warming up for the weekend. 10M this morning in the woods up at UMaine. Packing up for the afternoon acadia run... any last minute takers? headed out around 2:30 - just in case of traffic. I'm planning on returning to bangor after the dinner... Of course, If I get there early - I'm running moderate mile repeats towards witch hole pond from signpost 6 until 4:30.
I had the float thing working this morning, I think buoyed by last night's great Red Sox win.
The Coco Crisp Catch
"That was one of the most exciting moments I've ever experienced on the baseball field," teammate Mark Loretta said. "It was one of the best plays I've ever seen," David Wright (Mets batter). "I'd have to think real hard about a catch that I've seen that was any better," said Schilling "I didn't think I was going to get there," Coco said. "I took a leap of faith and, because I was running so fast, I was able to hang in the air."
Congratulations Brendan! Happy birthday Ed!
Brendan and Ed.
Been a terrible week running and riding-wise. Too much of life interfering. Looking forward to a loop ride and carriage trail run tomorrow.
Thankfully, Judson dragged me away from my computer and took me out on the trails for 10 miles in the muck. I always think the world's going to end if I step away from work for a minute ... but it hasn't yet.
10 miles with 12 by 45 second hard with 75 seconds rest.
to kick of the run mdi weekend. Chris G I tried to keep up. I never lost sight of you though. I should have had a watch. It had to be my fastest time around this summer. Lot's of fun! Have fun everybody tomorrow. See some of you Sunday.
Good to see a nice group show up for the kickoff run of the Run MDI weekend. In addition to several of the usual (local) suspects we attracted a few runners from NY, Surry, and Michigan. Bikers too..
Throughout the weekend we'll be selling raffle tickets for some items and gift certificates donated by local businesses. Much thanks to Cadillac Mountain Sports, the Nike Store, the Bar Harbor Bike Shop (all on Cottage Street), and to Jack Russell's Brew Pub(Route 3, near the Cat).
oh I am a happy girl, there is ice cream in the freezer. I have not had ice cream in like two weeks, which is a very long time to have not eaten any ice cream.
To catch up: a slightly less OCD week ;) Monday - rest Tuesday - 11 mi Wednesday - 4000 yd swim + 8mi track "workout" (random segments of picking up the pace) Thursday - 3000 yd swim Friday - 8mi
homehomehomehomehome, YAY!
Actually, it had to be six. I ran the Eagle Lake loop from the kayaking parking lot, caught Judy and Clair by the bitter end to finish up at the stone gate, and then figured I should run up to where I remembered to start my watch. Just like John said, I wish I'd timed my trip around today; had to be a new best while pushing the girls.
It's been too long since my last long run. It was nice to hit my normal distance and keep going. The cool temperature and the rain made it fairly easy to keep up a steady pace. Strides finished it off.
First 10 with Matt as he said, althought the 12x45 seconds hard were broken down into 15 seconds segments, each getting faster.
6 around the lake with the group of 16. Interesting run.
And some strides and a lovely ice bath before hitting the bar for some fish and chips and a couple stouts.
... Even though I totally lost sight of the front pack in the first 1/4 mile or so, this was my fastest time around EL at 47:00. Not fast by any standards but mine.
Matt and I got talking to Skip Howard today during our run and he told us about the BDN article about the 3-k.
What a great way to kick off the Run MDI weekend! I was sorry I didn't get to meet everyone, but it was great to meet Greg, Katrina and Sue, and fun to catch up with Bride-to-be Becky from Buffalo!
Cline or anti-cline? Counterclockwise anyway. Good exercise for me, showing me I can always use some improvement piloting my own small craft through the eye of a tropical low. And, quick or slow for whatever reasons, I'm reminded how great a thing it is to run with friends.
Bob, Becky, RK, TimT, Christine, Greg, Katrina, Sue, John M., Clair, Shannon, Judy, Judson, Carol, Lid, Nora, Rick, Frank, Gary and myself. I count 20, with over a hundred miles collectively.
Lid, Nora, and I rode the Explorer out from the Village Green, bringing two bikes for L & N. I recommend traveling that way -- it was quick and easy.
Great to see everyone at Sign post 6 last night and at Jack Russell Pub afterwards. Nora and Liddy and I had a great ride to Bubble Pond and back. Nora is a natural cyclist. She has excellent form on the bike! After we got back to the parking lot I did a lap around Eagle Lake to get in a nice hill climb before meeting up with folks at Jack Russell.
Carol
Movie Report: Judy and I went to see Cars at Reel Pizza last night. As usual, Pixar animation is nothing short of amazing. The story line wasn't as compelling as their previous movies although individual characters were very memorable.
including Eagle Lake, faster than I've ever done before! Including the 5(ish) at lunch, I'm calling it 11 for the day.
Running/walking = 192 Biking = 15
A group of 20 at Eagle Lake to kickoff Run MDI Weekend!
