Biking the loop

with Amy F. and Michael. What a gorgeous day! After all the wet weather it doesn't seem like this is the same place. 22 miles.

That was a fun ride with Nora and Carol last night and great to meet a few people at Jack Russell's.

Off to the downhill mile with Nora in a few minutes.

4 miles, most with RK, then a mile with Matt.

A few steps and some stretching

with Frank and the First Striders (that sounds like a band!), then got to Jordan Pond House just in time to meet the group there. So many people! I ran mostly with Amy, Shannon and Susannah, although the scene of faces kept shifting all around me. I think I ended up doing about 11 miles, give or take. Then I somehow found myself running a downhill mile in a grass skirt. Very swishy. Turned right around and ran back up with Amy, and finally sat down to relax on the beach for a while, watching Steve C. and the Gumbies doing their thing. Whew, I'm exhausted!

gumbies

don't I wish. Mostly I remember being amazed at how flexible Steve was and laughing with Becky as our heads were still held high when they were supposed to be stretched forward over our pretzel legs and gently touching the sand.

Walking and running at Little Long Pond

It was great to see everyone at the Jack Russell last night, right after arriving on the Island for a month. We met Judy and several others at Little Long Pond this morning, and Craig and I each went about 2 miles total, mine walking and his running, until his knee gave out.

Beautiful day

20 biking miles on the Loop Road starting at 7:30 am. Saw one mama deer and her freckled baby. Sorry to have missed Frank and the First Striders but even with Liddy at the lead I could not make it in time.

8 running miles with a slew of people. Thanks to those who kept me company at the rear of the pack. Thanks, Shannon, for suggesting that I was running too fast!!?? Nice to see 10 cubers again and talk to Anna, Sara, Becky, Karen, Rae and Tom, and the woman who works with Ginger whose name, I'm sorry, I've forgotten.

Hope you all have fun tonight at the pot luck.

mmmm, wicked fun workout, and nice to swim with Tim, who told me that their meet went well last weekend. I could've swum in that meet, but it was in Bath and that's a loooonnnnng drive from MDI. Anyway, Tim had a good meet and swam a 52 for his 100 free, but Mike got lapped in the 500 by a "hotshot teenager" (hee hee). I was psyched to be in "my" lane in "my" pool this morning. Also, the outdoor pool complex is open for the summer! It has a huge pool, divided into a shallow kid pool, a mid-depth family pool, and a section with six, twenty-five meter lanes. There are two waterslides as well. I'm excited to swim there in the afternoons this week!

Figure 8 from Jordan

Beautiful morning and really nice to see such a big turnout show up at Jordan. Mark and I stuck together throughout, but we got to run with lots of folks on the first half of the run. The epitome of a social run. Thanks for the company.

8 pain free miles

No lower back pain...felt great

but maybe more awesome, is that i somehow shot a 91 in a round of golf today in Lovell.

Glad to see everyones having fun on the island :)

Chris

up and down and all around

fun day with MDI Run things to do. First stopped in at First Strides...great to see new faces there and Frank and Chris and Sara and Matt leading things off. Then over to Seal Harbor where I left my car. Ran to Little Long Pond and joined up with Peter and Helen and Ned and Sara and Nick and Emily and Heron and Joanne and Craig and Ryan for a nice trot around the grassy loop and then down the hill to explore the pond. Then back to Seal Harbor and up and down Stanley Brook Road. Then soak in the sea and stretch and picnic. Then home in time to play back the Prologue and rest for a while. I think I did about 4 miles over all today, and a lot more stetching than usual. And And...the Sun the Sun.

12 miles

The 9:30 group starting from Jordan Pond house ran well over 200 miles collectively, I'm certain. I counted 23 runners: Kevin, Mark, Shannon, Susannah, Amy P., Christine, Steve, Tim T., Matt, Sara, Rae, Tom, Amy C., Amy F., Anna Travers, Lisa Tweedie, Karen, Ginger, Ginger's two friends, Becky, Beth L., and myself.

I went with the group that got to run the Eagle lake hill twice, but not the full Eagle/Jordan/Bubble loop -- say 11 miles, anyway. Then we jogged down to the Stanley Brook Road for the mile which was a lot of fun, as we were joined there by a few others, RK, JC, Judy, and Nora. That's as nice a road mile as I can imagine --- shady, smooth, fast, and ending at a beach.

Great soak at the beach afterward where Steve, Shannon, and Tim all made the full plunge.

Good to see Peter K and family there, too, and Mike B who just made it back to Maine.

Last, thanks to JC, Autumn, Matt, and Sara for hosting the fine backyard potluck this evening. What perfect weather we ended with today.

See you all at 6:00AM on top of Cadillac.

Mile:
RK, Judy, Matt, JC, Brian, Tim, Shannon, Christine, Judy, Karen, Beth, Nora

Fun day

I almost never get sunburned, so I know I was out and about a lot today since I burned my face, arms, shoulders and chest. Great day. Suppossed to run again, but Nora chased me for 10 minutes and that tired me out enough. Three more days of running until nobody whats to be around me for a week. Yee ha.

fun + dehydration city

The first 11 miles were great with an ever-changing pack, but the sun got to me toward the end. I must have started a little dehydrated, because I had a tough time out there and then couldn't drink enough water for a while when I got home. I owe a huge thanks to Kevin for helping get through the last few miles.

Sorry not to make it to other events, but this is my family's last weekend here before they spend the next month in Vermont. My brother also blew into town to pick up a new puppy, so I took my son to see the litter and have dinner with my brother and his girlfriend. I'm now dealing with my son's case of puppy love, but that's OK, there's nothing cuter than 8-week-old lab puppies.

Great day, great company

Felt like I spent the whole day running, from First Strides to Jordan Pond to the mile to the picnic. What fun! It was great to be out there with 23 people on the carraige roads, and that mile ... that's a nice one.

12 miles all told.

8 mile loop and 1 downhill

What a fun day of running! Thanks to everyone who organized the day's events.

Thank you.

I would like to thank Judy for organizing the kid's run at Little Long Pond. Good to see so many people out enjoying the run's and the park. Good job Christine and others for organizing the many events over the weekend. I think it was nice to see a lot of new faces as well as the core of this group out there showcasing the area and the group.

Thank you.
Peter K.

Saturday Totals

Running/walking = 285
Biking = 69
Swimming = 5600

Group runs, yoga, and Edenistas in motion all over the island... as Run MDI continues

Thanks Everyone!!!

Huge thanks to everyone for organizing, hosting, sharing and participating in this fantastic weekend event. It was great to put more faces with names and learn some new routes around the island. I was afraid Kristie would get sick of hanging out with grown up runners but even she had a blast and covered 18 miles on her bike. A new record for her!
No fish were caught on Monday BUT she got 2 lobsters and lots of crabs.
