10K up and on time

Chris and I ran with Bob C. from the YMCA to the top of Cadillac. It was planned to allow us plenty of time for the run, but pre-wedding nerves got us all started early and even so we went at a good clip -- not too much over 52 minutes.

Wedding went off flawlessly, despite the ranger roadblock for a car ad campaign on the way up and an increasing southerly breeze across the peak. With Judy and Katrina beating us to the summit, and cyclists Kristy, Carol, Liddy, and Dr. Dave joining at the top, from the shelter of the coping stones, we made quite a satisfactory sweaty peanut gallery overlooking the formal aspect of the ceremony.

Best wishes indeed to you, Bob and Becky. It was an honor to be included.

sweet rain, I adore you

Biking to a wedding

That was a really nice waking up thinking "I gotta get to a wedding!" hopping on my bike and sailing off to meet Carol and then Kristy and the rest of the gang up on top of Cadillac. It was disconcerting seeing the ranger's vehicle with flashing blue lights about a mile from the summit. Had Bob hyperventilated? Had he tried to turn back and Brian had to call in backup? I cruised up, asked if everything was all right and gave him plenty of room. I didn't want to give him a chance to stop me: Ed was in line and if they wouldn't let through a doctor with a camera what chance did I have? Anyway, the wedding was really nice and it was awfully good of Becky and Bob to let us spectate. Thank you both and best wishes to you!

More biking with Carol after the ceremony. A very gusty descent and a rapid loop of the park finishing just as the rain started. We saw 3 deer including a sweet little fawn that looked too frail but leapt away regardless. About 30 miles.

Thanks to Autumn for making it possible.

Cadillac Mountain post wedding

It was a pretty wild day for my first run up Cadillac. I met Beth L, Tom K. and Ginger at 7:30 just as the rain began and the wind was picking up. Lisa and Dwayne biked up while we ran. About half way up things started getting pretty crazy. We were pelted with ran and pushed and pulled by a pretty stiff wind. There were moments when I felt like I was going to be thrown into the rocks. Still, it was fun and very rewarding. We were met at the top by Sara and Matt cheering us on.

Slept in

What can I say, yesterday's action packed day tired me out and I slept until almost 10am. Maybe when I'm 50 I'll have the stamina to get up at 5.

A nice 15-k with Matt F. after I woke up, he had already done 6+ before I met him at Eagle Lake and then he did another 2+ afterwards while I did strides. Legs feel surprizingly great after all the stuff I did yesterday, although my face is still sunburned a little.

6.50 echo lake lurvey spring loop...

but this time with Chris G, Mike B, Judy, Tom and Rae, Frank and Kristie on her bike. Joanne and Craig walked with Brian. Thanks Bonnie for the treats at the end. Finished the day off with a nice climb up beech cliff ladder trail with Patrick. That was kind of slippery! Be carefull. Thanks everyone for keeping everything running smooth this weekend.

John & Bonnie

Thank you for your hospitality! It ws great to have a chance to sit , eat, talk and watch adorable James.

and now a nap

after action filled morning..up at 4, met Katrina at 5 to run up Cadillac, meeting all at top and overseeing the wedding. something to remember. then on to westside and a fun run with everyone there - I think I did 5 miles there so 8 overall today. And then Bonnie had blueberry muffins and sweet watermelon and lots more. Great day so far. George Hinacapie in yellow.

early bird ride

Not being an early riser it was a shock to find myself on the ascent of Cadillac at 5:30 in the morning! But it was a very nice ride up with Lid and Kristy. Was kind of fun to be in the peanut gallery for Bob and Becky's Windy Wedding!

Had a very enjoyable Park Loop Road ride with Liddy after the wedding. It was just starting to rain when we finished up. I was back at the bike shop at 8:00 am to re-fuel and get ready for the 9:00 am ride but the rains came in. My buddy Lili and I decided for a quick Park Loop ride despite the weather but it was just the two of us. I guess I'll count it as 50 miles for the day.

Time for a quick nap!

Sundays with John Rolfe

Looks like rain

and a tail wind for the 3-k. Heehee, love it.

Best wishes, Becky and Bob!

What an honor it was to accompany Bob to the summit this morning. He didn't seem too nervous, perhaps a little chatty, but that's kind of the way he is. Which worked out just fine for me, only having to respond in monosyllabic gasps. The bride was spectacular and smiling from ear to ear. Certainly a run for me to remember always! Then the fun continued on the Quiet Side, where we enjoyed a drizzly run on John's carriage roads, and a feast after, thanks to Bonnie. I also am ready for a nap, but hope to see everyone later at JR's. The raffle drawing is tonight, so come early to buy your tickets!

Thanks, Judson, Autumn, Matt and Sara!

Great fun, food and festivity at the Ledgelawn Party Center yesterday. Thank you all for your hospitality!

3K Repeats

Ran the 3K course today to get a good look at it.

Ran up to the start line in Brewer and ran back. Course looks good - mile marker is right before the Chamberlain Bridge - you'll see the large green DOT signs - that's marks the spot - the pavement changes from road to bridge... there is a mark from last year still there off to the right (running towards Bangor). It's a white line and it also says "1 Mile".

After running down Main Street and turn onto State Street, you cross the State Street Kenduskeag Bridge - there appears to be a paving project going on - so it's the bottom level of the pavement - about 50 yards or so, groovy if you know what I mean. The turn on to Exchange Street around *Luchini Corner* you'll see some grit bits laying about.

Good times this weekend - PB around Eagle Lake 41:17 counterclockwise and 5:11 for the Downhill mile. Thanks for the hospitality and glad to see you all.

Thank You

For all the fun events on Saturday. I kept commenting on our run how fun it was to see so many runners out there. I think I logged in 13 or so miles, with a pr on that mile 6:09, that is the fastest I've ever been.
Thanks to everyone who made that day possible.

Run MDI Weekend photos

Thanks to Ed G....

...for the photos -- is what I meant to say.

4 miles walking

with a friend who came home from Summer School for the weekend (she's taking organic chemistry as a summer term class, crazy in my opinion)

My legs aren't sore at all :D I took a nice, long (ten minutes is a long time to be covered in ice, methinks) ice bath this morning. My dad wanted to know what I wanted with four trays of ice at seven am...

Skinny Loop with..

a group from John M's house. Thanks much for sharing your bread and butter run with us and for Bonnie's treats. Afternoon paddle around Greenings with Karen K. from MA. Nice downwind surf from the tip of Greenings back in to NEH accompanied by a pretty wooden (Concordia) yawl.

4 miles

at the City Forest on legs dead from yesterday's excess.

Looks like the weekend was a great success. Congratulations to all.

Six

I did Eagle Lake today on bike. After not being able to see Cars at Reel Pizza because it was sold out Liddy, Brian, and I went out to Eagle Lake with Juddy and Autumn to do this and that out there.

That

Can't speak for the this group, but while Autumn ran and L & N biked, the that group walked about four miles.

Nora, Autumn & Cars

We were saving 2 seats for you until we figured out they were turning people away because it was sold out and we had 2 extra seats (oops). Sorry to miss you and that you missed the movie.

Like she said

The waves breaking over the dam in an interrupted waterfall made up for the lack of mergansers and snapping turtles.

walk

An hour and 13 minute walk with Brian while Autumn ran and Nora and Lid biked around the lake.

RUN MDI numbers

Quick tally:

Over the course of the first ever Run MDI Weekend, all told we had 40 club members and 21 guests who participated in 17 different events.

Thanks all, for the terrific weekend!

Due credit

Congratulations and thank you, Brian, for coming up with this terrific idea, and making it all happen.

Ditto

It was great to see so many people step up and offer to coordinate and lead fun events of all sorts. I had a wonderful weekend.

8.5

2 loops of the 4 on the 4th course in Bridgton+strides.

Trying to get familiar with it again and was reminded why i haven't ever done all too well there in the past. This course just isn't pretty, especially with humidity. The few downhills just don't offer any recovery it seems.

Regardless, still feeling optimistic for a good race tuesday morning. I think going over the course that indepth really helped me develop a racing plan of sorts that should bring me close to if not under 22 minutes I hope.

Chris
