Looking AsternPopular races @ "the time".....In most cases, lasting ten years....The following first two: directed by MRHF, Steve Ross: 2.8 miler in Lewiston & 4.5 miler on Thursday evening in mid-August in Lewiston as well (beginning in mid-1960's)....5 miler in Rumford (last week in October), put on by Rumford Rec Dept.)(early 70's), 5.8 miler (fast)in Falmouth, first week in November, put on by Maine Masters T.C. & directed by Dick Goodie (MRHF) & the very popular 5.8 miler in Cape Elizabeth on Thanksgiving week-end & @ the time Runner(s) of the Year (Maine) was announced.....Maine AAU x-country Championships 10,000 Meters (about 3rd week in November)w/Locations varied: Rockland, Maine Maritime Academy, Bowdoin & Scarborough (Dir. by Steve Ross & or Roland J. Dyer--AAU Long Distance Running Chairman)...Just a few for Historical "stuff". |
