Shoe closet inventory

shoe/source/comment

3 pairs Asics Kayano: Two pair puchased on-line, latest set from Cadillac.
My utility shoes -- I buy them months in advance from wherever they're cheapest.

Nike Vaporfly: Nike store
Haven't really put these to the test yet, but they feel a lot better than the Mayflies which I'm retiring.

Asics Gel Racer: on-line
Standard racing shoe. Have to say I don't love these, but they work well. They just feel a little hard.

Nike Zoom Marathoner: Nike store
Lots of people seem to like these, but the little piece of plastic embedded in the outer midsole just about killed me by the end at Boston. Anyone who wants my pair of size 9s is welcome to them.

Brooks T4 Racer: on-line
Nice soft and light racing shoe, only complaint is that it has poor traction on sandy pavement.

Asics Hyper MD track spike: Ellsworth Cadillac
Kind of stiff. But maybe I'm just not used to spikes....

Asics Flash: discontinued, on sale at Cadillac
Nice soft lightweight trainers with lots of room in the forefoot the way I like it. I got these to replace the later model Speedstars which I also liked, but after about 250 miles, during a rainy run at the track, the gel thing in the Speedstars' heel must have popped because they started to squeak at every footstrike and then always smelled really bad after that.

Brian,never tried Brooks

but might down the line sometime.I know some other runners locally that have good things to say about the T4's.

T4's

T4's were nice, but they didn't last too long. But they are fast.

Brooks

I'm going to try and get some more Brooks into the stores next year. We're open with them so we can order whatever.

Asics 2110s

Just tried to order 2 pairs (size 11) at roadrunnersports.com but I got a message there were none in inventory. The ones I'm running in are too old and pretty ripe.

Keep running!

2110

Steve,
I may have those in stock or be able to get them from Asics for you.
I'll be at Cadillac Sunday 12-3ish, Monday all day, Wednesday all day. Give me a call or email me at pbeckett AT cadillacsports DOT com if you're interested.

My name is Chris G.

and I have a running shoe problem. Last count: 15 pairs. Lots of Nike Air Max Motos and Asics Gel Cumulus, both of which are great for my high arched, neutral feet. I used to swear by Nike Pegasus, but they changed the style a couple of years ago, and now they don't seem to give me enough cushion. Nike Zoom Milers for racing...light, with lots of cush, but still plenty of support, even for marathons. Vaporfly's for track and short races, i.e. < 4 miles.

I buy almost all of my shoes in BH, either at the Nike or Cadillac store, but admit to ordering them online if I find a good sale.

Chris,15 pairs?

wow,I don't feel guilty about buying another pair of flats tonight!

My name is Rae

and I LOOOOVE to throw things out and/or give them to Goodwill. When my shoes go flat they get downgraded to gardening, marsh walking, clam digging shoes. Next step the trash. Shoes that never (50 miles) get comfortable go to Goodwill. Those of you with racing flats, trail runners, street shoes, etc. will need more pairs than I do but I usually only have 3 active running pairs that I rotate through and one messy chore pair. Brooks for me but they quit making "My Style" so I'm on the verge of a shoe crisis.

Nike trail runners

I don't know the name of them, but they're a pretty blue with a green swoosh.

Nike Air Max Assails

it says it right on the shoe. In silver, silhouetted against the pretty blue.

I always have three pair of shoes

I rotate two pair of practice shoes and one pair of flats every 6 months or so.Currently practice shoes are two pair of Adidas Adistar.Heavily cushioned and fairly heavy shoes in general.Great for long runs. For racing flats bought a pair of Nike Air Zoom Katana. At 5 ounces lightest flats I have ever owned.Used them for a few races 5K-10K and not enough cushion or support for me.Switched back to my retired Adidas Cubato Plus for my last 5K and felt great.Too bad they were discontinued.I'm probably going to shop for some new Adidas flats tonight after my run.I buy my running stuff online at roadrunnersports.com.

shoes

I know Reebok's are not that common up your way, but they came out with a nice line of shoes this fall. There new Aero Elite is just like the Nike Zoom Elite. And They finally came out with a shoe lighter than the Competition, although it doesn't come out to the public until next year and I don't even know the name of it yet.

The 3-D Lite is a great lightweight trainer/racer, and the Road Lite's are my favorite to train in on a daily basis. They have some other shoes too, like the new KFS, the Premier Cushioning, Road Plus, Ultra DMX, Control DMX, And the Switchback Trail for those of us running the mountains.

At least try on a pair and decide for yourself.

yeah,Reebok gets little notice

I read they were not doing well as far as overall sales in running shoes.

Foot wear.

I don't have a running shoe problem (yet). You can tell because I still call them sneakers.

I run in Nike Max Air Trail Runners from the BH Nike Store (Autumn) and Nike Max Moto's from the Running Room. The Motos are nice and squishy and supportive of my high arch. The Trail Runners keep me from rolling out too much.

Usually Saucony,

(my feet are wide) but every year they change up the model I use. The replacement tends to work out well. I'm planning on trying out ASICS for this cross country season.

LOCO s for me

A year and a half ago, I noticed an ad for LOCO running shoes and the price was right and it was a New England based company doing interesting things to promote their shoes, so I tried them (Loco Xpresso) I'm just ordering my third pair. The first I paid full price for ($75 I think) the second I got for "free" for running in a LOCO sponsored race in Portland ($35.00 entry fee) and now they are offering me $30.00 off plus giveing me a free shirt, plus free shipping.

I used to use Nike Pegasus .... they've changed, now it's bargain priced Loco Xpresso for me. They've been lasting at least 500 miles or more.

ok LOCO

I think I'll try some of their shoes...

LOCO

Wow. That website is really interesting. What an awesome concept.
Do you know if that's the same company that used to be called "Vitruvian"?
I'm going to look into that more.

shoes shoes

I wear Nike Pegasus alot and currently have size 8 D for my wide, high arched feet. I was having a lot trouble with numb feet because my feet get hot and swollen. It took me TOO LONG to figure out to just get bigger shoes. My regular shoe size is 7 - 7.5 and I've learned that if the catalog recommends 'buy 1 size up' than that's what I really need to do. My most recent favorite shoe was the Mizumo Wave Rider 9. They were light and airy and I loved them. But they wore out and I haven't found another pair yet. Even RoadRunner Sports is sold out of the wide ones in my size. I also have an old pair of Asics Gel Cumulus that I bought too small but now wear on short runs. I like them and will buy them again, just bigger. I just bought a pair of NB neutral shoes at Cadillac because that's what they had. I forget what model they are. I'm still wearing them in and alternating with an older pair of Pegasus that still have some life. I buy my shoes both around town and through RoadRunner Sports.

Wave Rider etc.

Judy,
I checked with Mizuno today and the women's Wave Rider 9 size 8 wide is backordered until mid-November.

It continually amazes me how many people buy their shoes too small. Those stupid foot measuring things in the store say that they're calibrated specifically for athletic shoes but they still read a full size small.

You probably got the W754 ?? It got Editor's Choice from Runnner's World last year. How do you like them?

Shoe Shopping tonight

Thanks for all the tips.
Two years ago I won a pair of Locos at a Portland race (Hall of Fame maybe?) for being the middle woman finisher. Thought that was great. They were nice and light and comfortable. It's not often you win something for being the middle of the pack.

Asics Nimbus

My last three pairs of running shoes have been Asics Nimbus. I recently tried Cumulus but didn't think there was enough toe support. The Nimbus is very cushy and suits my neutral, fairly high arched feet well. The Nimbus has memory foam on the inside of the heel which keeps my narrow heels from rubbing.

I bought my last pair of Nimbus from Cadillac with the help of Peter (the man knows his running shoes). I wear the popular size 9 so I don't often find running shoes on sale.

Nimbus

Thanks Karen.
Are those working out OK for you?
