Good luck to all L/A Bridge runners!
Culture shock: there's no ocean here
I'm dissapointed at not making it out on Sundays with the group....but I have a good excuse this week. Amy and I are off to PEI this morning (last minute decision) and I have way to much to do before we can go. I'll make up for it while I'm up there and I plan to check out most of the PEI Marathon course (for Fall 2007).
Have a great week all. Plan to be at the Bangor 5miler (thanks for the info Brian).
Beautiful morning out for a run. My legs felt fine from yesterday and was able to maintain a decent pace even on the climbs, although I trailed Brian, Chris, Bob, and Becky. Frank kept me company and kindly provided water from his rolling water stop. The last couple miles coming downhill to Parkman was a fun free-fall by stretching out my stride with a quick turnover.
Runners thrown off pace with cancellation of race
Around Mountain with Kev, Becky, Bob, Chris and Frank. And then a little extra out & back toward Brown Mountain. Legs felt pretty good for the day after a race. But then that's what good company does for a run.
Thanks all, especially Frank for the photos and the rolling supplies.

It was a great race! I recommend this one to everybody. This was our third year and we hope to have many more. Great course, great volunteers, good field of runners, free pizza before 9AM!!! What more could you want? A PR for Tom (see that Super Ed.?) and his daughter Kristie in 25:54. I did not have a PR but I am really happy with my race. My first mile was 7:42. I don't know my other splits but I felt even throughout and ended up with a pace of 7:44. Felt good, within myself, under control. I actually enjoyed it and never once asked myself, "Why? Why? Why do I do this?" Back to school shopping was more stressful. Two new course records. Dirigo Men and Women owned the day. CGat was third in his age group and a PR there too.
I did that race back in 2003.A good one.Wanted to do it this year but work prevented me.
I had an anonymous moment. GREAT DAY all around for a good cause.
Perfect training day.
Did about 5.5 at 5:30 this morning before heading to Auburn. Warmed up with a few pr guys just under 3 miles and although didnt run too even, ran strong for the race. Surprised I didn't beat Zolla though, but knowing i went into it as a training run...i just didn't have that drive one needs to "Hate" the guy in front of u. Ethan had a heck of a race taking the course record by about 30 seconds running alone most of the way.
ran the course after for a cooldown
Really enjoyed the day. Good race, good people, great weather.
14.5 on the day.
Back out to school in a week, can't wait. Also nice to see Tom and Ra as well. After reading the jrolfe article, if i'm going to be named a "member" of eden athletics, i should send in my my dues to actually be a member. Expect a check in a week or so :)

I knew you were going to get a pr or two this year. Some impressive times and you raced non-stop all summer. You must be around 30-40 races on the year.Congrats and good luck at school as well as x-country season.
An easy 17 miles. Now I'm going to live on my couch until our team meeting tommorrow night at 4pm and watch the tube. That's right, no run for me tommorrow. Talk to you all Tuesday.
the Pan Pacific meet is on NBC :D
How is your uncle? Bonnie
After a last minute call from Ginger, we shifted our run to Eagle Lake this morning. She needed to run 18 miles and we weren't sure how to do that from Parkman. Ginger, Tom and I ran the first lap together. By chance, Amy N. and Dilly joined us for the second lap. With 2 miles left on the second lap, we met up with a similarly paced woman who was training for the NYC marathon. She was on her first lap and planning a second so she and Ginger ran the last lap together. It's nice when things work out that way.
It sounds like the rest of you had a great run too.
Around Mountain, plus the Hadlock loop. Unlike Brian, I will say that my legs are plenty tired. Great running with the group, and once again, thanks to Frank for the hydration service.
0.5M swim followed by 9M bike and then a 15 Mile run. A soak in the already getting cold river and a good ol' fashion stretchin'.
Keep running!
Tri training is lots of fun :D
for the first time in a while. An easy 5 with most of the team, follwed by 5 more with the usual other high mileage guys, closing out the week at an even 100. It's great to run with the team again. We have a 5k race this Saturday? I think, or maybe Friday. Anyway, it seems like this preseason deal should be pretty nice. All we do is run, eat, sleep, and hang out. I can't think of a much better way to spend the rest of the summer, especially when the school is paying* for us to do this.
*while we will pay them a bit more in the fall-spring period
We start September 5. I've been dreading that date all summer, but now that I'm home, my family is driving me nuts, and I cannot wait to move back to school. Sigh...
I think. At least it's within a few days of then. Our quarter system gives us weird starting and ending dates.
with the Sunday long run group followed by a tempo paddle. I worked up in to the Southern Neck to the point where the top of Western Mountain disappears.
... to get a feel for all those hills so I won't be surprised come October 15.
I saw your Timberman photos, amazing! You look like you should be on the cover of Runner's World. Actually, you're results should be in Runner's World too:) 17.7 for the day for me. I felt strong, long runs are becoming MUCH easier for me now. As Karen said, it worked out so well, I had company the whole time. The woman we met was really great. She just hopped right into our little group and it was wonderful. She really kept me going in the end, taking my mind off the mild discomfort. About yesterday's race... Coach made me feel much better about my performance. It would have been nice to run a 40 min. race, I did 41:49. Judson thought I did just fine considering the difficulty of the course and all of the running I'm doing. I am thrilled to have taken 5 min. off my time from last year. AGAIN, NICE JOB LOU I.! You ran an awesome race. 8 min. miles flat, a huge PR for Lou. My goal was to do that.
Vanessa did 8 this a.m. while I did 10. Yes, we were clearly spoiled running about MDI with you all. We both thought we'd be flying about down here in the flatlands but the heat/humidity seemed to at least equal out all of our hill training. Apparently there is no free lunch in running either. Its been good to see family, friends, and especially our grandchildren. Sounds like you are all running well. Keep up the good work and we will see you in a few weeks.
Wanted an easy run and got it due to somewhat tired legs. Followed up with brunch at Cafe this Way, pancakes and eggs benedict! I even thought about an afternoon run, but had a beer instead. The result was only 25 miles running for the week, and 1200 miles driving, never leaving Northern New England.
Running/Walking = 161 Swimming = 1/2 mile Biking = 9
