A race to remember

Don't ask me why but the NEH 5 miler was the most enjoyable race of my young running career. The weather was great, the course is beautiful, the companionship was warm and comfortable but that doesn't do it.

This was the first race that I actually enjoyed! Can't explain it. I have always just done races, feeling good about finishing, enjoying the weight loss, trying to feel like a runner but trying hard for something I wasn't sure I could find.

Saturday was different, I had no goals. I've been training for a marathon in Oct. which I found out I was going to miss. This was to be my only race this fall. I told Ginger I didn't have a goal, I'd let my body decide at around mile 2. I relaxed knowing I had plenty of miles in for this race. (I really wanted to beat Ginger) Almost instantly I felt something different - I seemed to be in control - now that's strange. I had fun, I enjoyed the effort, I had a ball and I even beat Ginger - HA!

I even beat my pr by 3 minutes +/- from last year. Thanks team you are a part of this. I might be a runner yet. Lou

Congratulations, Lou!

I read this and it really echoed how I felt today. It is something to celebrate when running feels joyous, not stressful or just another thing on the to do list. Eden Athletics makes that a lot easier!
