Russian borscht
are the one food I don't eat, so no borscht for me. Two miles walking on the treadmill, and one hour of Pilates (I'm just leaving for Pilates now).
5200 yards of it. Mmmmm.

was fun, seeing the relatives, hiking and canoeing. Ran 4 + 4 = 8 miles over the last few days. not too much, but something anyway to balance the Snow Pudding and other delights.
First with Bob, then with Bob and Becky, then with just Bob again, and then with Bob and Frank. Fun run! Met up with Sara, Holly, Lisa and new Edenista Courtney at Duck Brook Bridge. Courtney says she's looking for someone to run with in the evenings, so anyone interested in joining her, give a yell.
Easy 7 miles before putting on my racing flats for the first time in about a month and doing some strides. Didn't know I could run that fast. I am ready for the 20-k.
Good Luck, Juddy (JC) You got to run through the jungle. run fast.
DC, Readfield
And good luck to all the runners racing on Monday in Maine. I'll be thinking of you all.
6.5 Hills Discovering the obvious: varying terrain (hills, flat, rolling, hills) allows your legs to recover so that you actually look forward to the hills AND are able to do the other runs. Who knew?
2 mi. w/u (8)x 800m at 5:30 pace w/200m jog recovery 2 mi. c/d
9 miles total
That's quite a workout! I have the exact same workout next week, except slower and with a longer recovery. To be honest, my coach seems much nicer than yours.
...He's keeping me on the straight and narrow.
And I wore the vaporflies for the first time which was worth a few shaved seconds anyway.
Honestly, I think these lone workouts are more moderate for me than the risky easy day runs with company. Yesterday's morning circuit around Eagle Lake with Bob was okay -- 44:00. But I think Bob took umbrage afterwards when I mentioned that that was the perfect 'easy pace' for me. So in the afternoon he asks if I'd like to go a little quicker. I said no. Started out pretty much at a jog. Then about halfway up the back hill when I started huffing, he asks me how I'm doing. "Just fine," I said, "But I'm going to keep it easy." So, needless to say, by the time we'd come down the hill and hit the mile to go mark, we were both flying pretty well under 6:00. I'll take those quiet little speed workouts anyday.
After years of doing an exceptional job covering Mount Desert Island running events, Craig Crosby is moving on to another job as a news reporter for the Waterville Sentinel.
While it's plainly a good career move for Craig, we'll miss him here very much.
Thanks, Craig, for all your good work. Best wishes to you in Waterville.
and best of luck to you in your new pursuits!
it's a nice place.
That was a great torchrun we did a few years ago! Keep in touch with us.
...at the Elmhurst Earlybird
I found a volunteer position!! I'm going to be working at an elementary school on Fridays with k-3 ESL students. Now I just need to find the kind of work that pays in money, not experience. Oh well. I'm excited!!
Little kids are so adorable, too.
and getting dark....
went okay.Placed 2nd age group 18.50.I practice run at Back Cove daily but racing different.Very loose surface from lack of rain. It's a trail and sandy in areas. That's my excuse,ha,ha.Listening to "NSU" Live Cream 1 Fillmore West.Makes recent reunion Albert Hall show sound like a limp wrist.
From Black woods up & Down. Best time in last month 54 minutes. Hope to do short hills today as I have done long hills twice this week. Saw another runner heading up when I was on the way down.
Happy Trails. Peter K.
on the carriage roads including four with Chris G. and Bob C. "Kenyans Shemnyans.."
A 3 mile early morning shakeout run plus the race, warmup, and cooldown. The race went pretty well, but not quite as well as I would have liked. That will be the extent of my complaining though. I went out fairly controlled and just let most of the field come back to me throughout the race, ending up 47th out of 200+. It was a good way to get back into racing after a few months off. I finished in 17:00 and ended up 7th on the team, so for now I can call myself "varsity". Teamwise, we were destroyed by the #2 ranked team in the country.
Varsity is a great accomplishment! This is your starting place. You have the base training in place to build on. Way to go!
Easy 5 for me in the neighborhood while Vanessa did 4. Mighty fine running Brian. Good job! We are putting in our sauna-esq miles these days in Orange Park, FL.
Running/Walking = 83 Swimming = 5200
Welcome Courtney. Good racing around the Back Cove DT. And best of luck to Craig C.
Along the ridge run on the loggin' roads by Molasses Pond. 1/4 mile swim, too.
Keep running!
