Good luck Courtney! Good luck CGat! Good luck CPev!
tomorrow. I here red makes you faster, so I'm going with it. Plus it will be hard to miss me out there. Karen knows how much I don't like to be missed:) GOOD LUCK COURTNEY!!!!!!
By my calculations you should be around mile 4 now. Just 22 to go. You can do it!
Good luck to everyone running tomorrow. I can't wait to hear about it.
around witch hole and more with Aylie, Steve, Keven and his friend. No leaf catching with this group! Good luck Courtney and all other Mdi Marathoners.
Good luck Courtney, sorry Ginger cannot help you out, I'm a mean coach.
6-miles and some strides.
I don't know why I said 6 more this morning since I only ran 6.
Anyways I got in a 4 hour nap. So that's gotta be worth some mileage. What's the conversion to running miles?
Best of luck to all those running the marathon. Looks like a perfect day. I hope someone breaks the course record, it really isn't that fast. Go Goupee, if anyone can do it he can, he's a master of hills.
Witch Hole alone, then again with Steve and John, followed by two more miles on Duck Brook road. What a good morning to run!
I hope your run is going well, Courtney! I'm sending all the positive energy in my body your way :)
One for business and one for pleasure, catching up with Michelle who is back in town to run the marathon tomorrow.
the 3Cs of racing. Great photos Chris! Something about seeing 1 person starting the 26.2 trek all alone looks so much harder.
Courtney, you made it look easy. Way to finish strong!
I saw Courtney and Shannon at mile 24, and they looked great! Courtney ran a big negative split, hit her goal pace dead on, and really did make it look easy. Congratulations to the first 2006 MDI Marathon finisher!
Around Witch Hole with Kevin, John, Alyie, Michelle on a beautiful morning. The weather is suppose to be similar to today's, which is perfect.
I don't want to post the room number for tomorrow's gathering. I'll talk to the front desk and tell them anyone asking for Steve and Eden Athletics should be given my room number or they should call my room on the hotels house phone.
Keep running!
marathon a day earlier than the scheduled start. That's a story for the local newspapers all in itself. Courtney will be able to brag that she was the first finisher in the '06 version!
Thanks to everyone who supported, and wished me well for my first marathon. What a beautiful run. I couldn't live on a more beautiful island. I enjoyed every step. And it was so great to see so many people both at the start and the finish line cheering for me. You are all the best. I can't think of a greater support group. I'll see the rest of you at the finish line tomorrow. Thanks again!
Courtney
:D
What a thing to do! I never would have made it through my first if I hadn't had all those other people around me at the same time. Ridiculous.
I ran 23 fewer miles than Courtney today...slowly and on the shore rd. Lovely out there.
Looking forward to seeing a whole host you folks out there tomorrow.
'cuz it's nice out and I felt a little irritable (dark chocolate didn't cure it) and I just wanted to run
rationalizing? yup. (So?!)
with Bob B. this morning. Chris joined us for one lap and we encountered lots of folks out there who looked like they were getting in their final pre marathon stretch-the-legs runs. A few seemed very ready to light the fuse.
It was great to see Courtney finish so strong in her marathon debut. You should be proud of both your effort today and your training.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow here, and at Bay State!
Phoned in from Farmington: Easy 6 around the cemetaries of Farmington ... just looking.
Courtney was beaming tonight. She feels like a new woman, and she should. There's no feeling like successfully completing your very first marathon, and one of the toughest marathons at that! Hearing how well her day went sends a calming sensation through me, which is what I need right now. Those pictures are amazing. Shannon putting the medal over Courtney's head is priceless!
Good night Eden, see you in the morning:)
Great run & congratulations on your first marathon!
Thanks to Frank for a good run and Chris for keeping us company on that 1st EL lap. Yes, friends do make such a difference. Vanessa had a good 10 mile run and shared that she really enjoyed the miles with Ginger.
I discovered some things that chafed on 18 that had not on shorter runs. Good luck to all of our marathoners tomorrow and don't forget the Body Glide or your lubricant of choice. See you at the 4 mile water table.
and a very bad race. I ran faster at the previous meet, on a much more difficult course. A 3 mile shakeout run, the race, warmup, and cooldown totaled 13 miles. I started off feeling fine, taking it easy and staying connected with the guys in my training group. After a mile I made my customary surge and still felt good. Just before two miles a whole lot of people started passing me, and I just didn't have the energy to respond. I fell back several places until the end. It was disappointing to have such a good summer of training and a good season so far but to have it end because of one bad race. I've decided to taper like I still was racing with the team and ride out a peak to a couple more, noncollege races. I'm planning on an open cross country race in St. Louis a week from Saturday, and then maybe a 2 mile time trial to try to finally break 10 minutes, or a 5k to try to break 16.
Running/Walking = 140
Including 26.2 for Courtney on the MDI course. Her first marathon!
