Hello!!
Welcome to the club!
30 minutes this morning and another 35 minutes later. I think whatever was wrong with me finally broke last night around 10PM and I was able to get my first meal of the day in. Breakfast went ok, so I'm going to try and run.
Some good news, we've decided to run the London marathon on April 22nd. Steve, are you interested in the 10-k in Salisbury on Jan. 1st? Looks like no Turkey trot for me unless I break the rules but I will get to run a 5-k in December in Maine.
Everything is planned out, not in order.
Maybe Manchester, 5-k in Maine, 10-k in Salisbury, Houston 1/2 marathon, Gate river 15-k, Cherry Blossom 10-miler, US X-C champs 12-k, shorter race in Florida, 10-k in March, London.
Diane & I will be coming back from a cruise on Jan 2, so I won't be able to take that dip in the cold Atlantic this year on the New Year. However, you can stay here.
Keep running!
easy. No bike shopping, my mom told me "you should check the weather forecast..." guess that'll have to wait for tomorrow afternoon.
2 mile w/u 25 minutes at 6:45 pace (8.9mph), 3-minutes easy, 20 minutes at 6:40 pace, (9.0mph) 3-minutes easy, 15-minutes at 6:35 pace (9.1 -> 9.2 mph), 3-minutes easy, 10-minutes at 6:27 pace (9.3mph), 3-minutes easy, 5-minutes at 6:15 pace (9.6mph) 1mi. c/d
All at 1% incline w/ last 5minutes of each interval at 1-1/2%
...22 for the day, bringing me to a bit over 105 miles for the week -- totally new territory for me. Feels great and not a thing hurts.
Thanks, Coach!
Wild out there tonight. Think this wind is going to take care of the rest of those leaves -- probably all the campaign signs also.
...Wagathon
couldn't you run a 5k in Nov. if your marathon's in Apr.? I'm sure there's lots of good reasons, I'm just curious about how the pro's train. Welcome Isabel! Nice witch.
What it boils down too, is that 2nd place isn't 1st place.
Honestly the conditions, the rain, nothing matters, except that I didn't take 1st. The girls beat the course up pretty bad before us...and it was really ugly everywhere.
We started out, harsh wind-gusts, inches of standing water, and tons of mud, but i was positioned well going into the first mile right behind Croteau of UMF. And then mentally, something just slipped. I started working harder and losing ground, and realizing that he's doing this to me on our course. My home course. At about a mile.5 i took my first dive of the day. (no spikes, flats, anything really saved you today unless you had some good-ol 3/4's...Apparently he did) My small-pyramid spikes had no grip anywhere...i may of well have just been wearing road flats. At that point i was mentally checked out. Fell again around 2.5, and again around 4. One of the frosh on our team who had a great day caught up, and we managed to run fairly consistent in together in 2-3.
We put 3 guys in the top 5, and did manage to take the team title. As did the women. Times were pretty ugly for the 8k, to give you an idea, i was at something like 30:51 (Croteau closer to 30:10).
So, there is a positive aspect to be taken out of this race, but it's definitely a wake up call in terms of mental toughness I think going into some much bigger meets that have more importance to me honestly.
Time for a nap, Chris
...and a great report. Good luck at Van Cortland.
Thanks Brian.
Actually, next we're racing down at Williams for ECACs, and after that it's Springfield for the NCAA reg., Van Cortlandt will be the week after that for IC4A's hopefully.
And, the womens winner/conference runner of the year I believe is from the Island. Emily Farley.

in the rain and wind. For some reason I'm serious; it was a great run with Mark from EL around Duck Brook and back, around Aunt Betty and back. I saw Ginger, Courtney and Ed all heading out as I got there, and I think I saw Mike's truck midrun. Pretty full parking lot for a wet day!
Oh, and I had the easiest leaf catch ever--the thing didn't even waver as it landed right in my outstretched hand.
rub it in. Just a few short days of leaf catching season remain, and you've got to be all "easiest leaf catch ever".
I'm going to head out to do 1/2000 mile loops around the oak tree in my side yard.
...let the leaf come to you.
Costume for me tomorrow, something with flames coming from the feet.
I'm mighty glad the flames are coming from your feet!
core,8 miles spinning.Big doings on Congress st.Cops aplenty.I didn't do it! Dave T.
