Keep running!
ya, so what's the verdict?
6 miles, wind in the face, felt slow and heavy on my feet.
41 minutes on the bike and some core after.
Tommorrow I will run for 60-70 minutes. If that goes well I'll do a longer progressive run on Thursday. If I get through that pain free, Boston is on. If I don't it's off to Grandma's.
The perfect song.
wind blown hair today. Back to running after feeling *yucky* for the past 3 days.
It looked nice out but I biked on the porch because all the sand and melt water on the roads make the biking kinda lousy. Hope it's drier soon.
and my M&Ms in a 6 mile run along the Bike & Hike trail on a picture perfect day.
So I got a tin of cookies from my mom last week. It was a 8 inch tin and there were 3 huge cookies that just fit into it. Then I got a bag of cookies from Liddy a day after that. This was last week. Today the mail comes and first I get another package from my mom with a huge 12 inch tin with one huge cookie in it. 10 minutes later the mailman comes back and hands me another package, this time from Chris G. and what's in it, a huge bag of cookies. Ginger sends me two loafs of banana bread all the time.
Thanks so much. I love cookies and now I have enough to last me a while.
whose do you like the best?
:-)
I like them all the best.
I got some new nutrition stuff today from my doctor for my blood disorder and I must say everything on the list it says I should be eating I'm not and everything on the list I shouldn't be I am.
No more sugar for me. Allowed honey, but nothing refined, although it says if I'm going to eat choc. to eat Dark.
I'm suppossed to add more salt to my diet. Lots of electrolytes in my drinks, but no sugar, so no gatorade. Coconut milk it says. Yummy, wonder how many marathoners have tried that in the race. Lots of red meat, which I love and simply don't eat too often since we don't eat red meat at Zap often(not sure why)
Worst thing is I'll have to switch from my coco puffs for breakfast to some low sugar, lots of fiber cereal and soy milk, BLAH.
The list goes on and other than the dark choc., salt and red meat, everything else on the list sounds pretty bad, although I am interested in trying the baby coconut milk on the run.
Interesting, because my older brother mentioned a lot of red meat made him feel better and he eats that stuff 4-5 days a week.
So I'm really going to enjoy all the cookies I got, but I guess I don't get anymore after that. I'm going to loose so much weight when I cut my sugar intake. Oh, and those jelly beans I just got, geeze. ANd all these years people told me I could eat whatever I wanted when I ran as much as I did and that the reason I had such bad races was because it was in my head and I was mentally weak. Blah, truth is out now. I'm an up and down headstrong freak who isn't allowed his sugar, haha.
...you were in Chicago from that case of Maine whoopie pies we sent.
Just as well that hotel security guy took them down to his office for himself.
Think I'll go see what's in the old snack cabinet. Got a sudden craving for partially hydrogenated tropical oils. Does Bosco count as dark chocolate? Might go good with coconut.
and yeah, itseems like it could be very difficult to take in enough calories without some sugar.
what they gave me.
Worth a try for a few months. It's good to be the test bunny.
you had mentioned soymilk - Silk Vanilla Soymilk is really good. I'm working on a couple bowls of cheerios with soymilk right now for a bedtime snack! I might not be able to cook black bean soup, but cereal I can do.
suggest black strap molasses in lieu of meat, but I guess that'd be classified as sugar, huh -- even though it's unrefined? Calorie for calorie, I think it has more iron than red meat. I've been eating it on my Captain Crunch since I was a baby -- maybe that's why I can leap tall buildings in a single bound and look like the man of steel -- and if anyone out there believes that, I've got a bridge I'll sell ya.
Maybe you ought to enroll in a TM clinical trial, Judson. They run 'em all the time. I'd be surprised if there isn't one for TM taking place someplace.
Does a complex Carb like Oatmeal with raisins & walnuts made with Splenda & honey cut the mustard! I've experimented & had lots of luck with yummy results. Let me know, I might have to do some bakin' on Sat.
mustard doesn't sound very good in cookies:) I know, that wasn't funny, I can't help it.
So, this I've already made. Banana bread with whole wheat flour and Splenda. My receipe is awesome. Hay, being an Ex-Weight Watcher might help here. The reciepe is from an old, falling apart Fanny Farmer paperback. Ginger, if we get the Cake's approval I might be willing to share.
Man, you guys should have known me when I was a fat lard ... excuse me ... an over weight husky guy (pc). Only six years ago.
bring the bread to the marathon, I don't mind hanging onto it for you. It's not a problem, I'll be at the finish line waiting with it:}
You cannot even tell it's Steve.
Elliot's not only a great runner but a great cook too.
Been out partying with Lid, Karen, Jill, and Shelly. Let me just say, we ingested a lot of sugar, and not in desserts. We're all geared up for our workout tomorrow! Karen and I both had pasta so we should do okay. I told her to skip the pasta and just drink and have dessert:)
Thanks for inviting the rest of us
beat Mike in 2 games of chess and then he stail maited me in the third game, haha.
started this run outside, but my route took me by the Y and it was just too windy and cold to keep it up. Outside for 1+, on the tread for 6. 6:35's-6:58's for the duration.
Judson, check out Nuun. No sugar.
Looks like you are doing some good tempo and progressive runs. Are you running Boston?
Nunn, got it. I'm going shopping today for new foods.
with 4 x 1 mile at marathon pace. I have yet to figure out what marathon pace ought to be. When is it supposed to feel like a pace that you can actually keep up for 26 miles?
I'm with Bruce for including blackstrap molasses in your diet Judson. Good luck.
RIGHT HERE
I love the stuff.
46 miles
