Sugarloaf Marathon

Looking for Sugarloaf Marathon updates? Click here after 7am on Sunday.

Please welcome all the Zapsters looking on.

Hi, Zapsters!

Welcome to Eden :)

Yes, Hello and Welcome!

:)

WiFi

I'm up at Sugarloaf and found WiFi at the condo. Updates are likely ... current temperature 40 and light rain (5:30, Friday May 18). See everyone soon.

Keep running!

Starting line report

Weather is perfect, about 45 degrees, waning drizzle, no wind to speak of. The air is buzzing with lots of Eden and ZAP energy. Won't be long now...

Mile 1

5:18. He knew it was fast even before Brian told him. Says he'll do better.

Mile 2

5:30. Right on target.

Mile 3

5:25. Rain has picked up a bit, not heavy, but more than a drizzle.

Mile 4

5:25.

Hey Chris

Do you know what Judson's mile to mile plan is? -Sara

No, but

I'll ask him. Wait here...

He says

he can't talk right now, but Liddy has all the numbers. I am trying to reach her. I imagine someone at ZAP knows, too.

Mile 5

5:29. Moving up into the hills.

Mile 6

5:30. It has now become a definitively rainy day.

Mile 7

5:28.

Mile 8

5:33.

Mile 9

5:58. That was the "slow" one. Brian was really huffing and puffing! :-)

Mile 10

5:47.

Mile 11

5:30. Now comes the steep descent. The rain has picked up again, but still not much wind.

Cumulative time

after 11 miles is 1:00:53.

Mile 12

5:19. Judson looks good and relaxed.

Mile 13

5:30. Brian is having trouble reading his watch because of the rain and foggy glasses. The course doesn't have a mark for the half, but the 13 mile cumulative time is 1:11:42.

Mile 14

5:31.

Mile 15

5:32. Cumulative time at 15 miles: 1:22:45.

Mile 16

5:21.

Cakester

looks like from the first 13mi that jud would've gone through the half at about 1:11:50 or so, projecting him for a 2:23:40, however, the plan was to run slower in the initial miles since this is the hillest part. The last 10 miles are the easiest as far as terrain is concerned so if he's feeling strong he shouldn't have a problem making up a minute and fifty seconds the last half. My fingers are crossed!!!!!

This is more exciting than the Preakness!

Go Judson! Go Eden!

Mile 17

5:17. The rain is easing off, still no wind, although Brian's velocity on the bike creates its own wind, so coming through the cell phone, it sounds pretty windy!

Go Judson!

Any news on Ginger?

The Eden/ZAP support vehicle

is riding up front, so unfortunately, I don't have any news on the rest of the Eden crew. Sorry.

:-(

No problem!

These updates are fabulous- thank you so much!!!

Mile 18

5:19.

Mile 19

5:23.

Mile 20

5:27. Just once around Eagle Lake to go...

Cumulative time

at Mile 20 is 1:49:32.

Through 19

Just did the spreadsheet vs. plan, and through 19, Juddy is 21 seconds ahead of the pace plan that puts him sub-2:22. Go Juddy!

Oops

Math was off -- through 20, he's 3 seconds ahead. Go Juddy!

still off

ignore my posts... He's close to pace.

comment

That spreadsheet is rediculous....I can barely keep track of my mileage!

Mile 21

5:22.

Mile 22

5:36.

Mile 23

5:35. He's digging deep...

Cumulative time: 2:06:05.

Mile 24

5:39.

Miile 26 and beyond

my watch died in the rain about mile 12, but it started up again and I was able to get my mile 26 split, 5:39, so the same as mile 25.

last .2 miles in 1:08.

Unofficial finish time

2:24:low

Pretty impressive performance. As of 9:30, no one else has finished yet. Judson says he lost his rhythm at mile 9, hit the downhills and couldn't get rolling.

Bravo JC!

Bravo Judson! Thanks for the thrill! Great run for you (and great ride for us!). You did us darn proud.

WOW Judson

Wish I had the legs and heart to run like that. Great run. -Sara

Great run, Judson!

You have always inspired me with your knowledge and passion for this sport!

jud

looks like jud's last 10K after 20miles would have to be32:30, which is 5:15 pace.

last 10k

I think it was more like 34 mins, around 5:30 \pace

yeah

the 5:15 pace is what he needed to get back on pace for 2:22

F#$%#@%!!!

Bunker

Ginger

I just heard from Ginger's husband Tim. Ginger is right on pace and feeling great. He called about 10 minutes ago and she was approaching mile 17. He said the people in front of her are starting to fade and she looks relaxed and comfortable.

Excellent!!!

Thank you Karen!

Go Ginger!

Karen, you waited 10 minutes to post!?! Tell Tim to call me. Sara

Sorry Sara

I was in the middle of making Banana Bread when he called. Eleanor had the electric beater and was spattering batter around the kitchen. I promise to do better now. I am planted at the computer ready to type.

Just heard from

Stephen Philbrook. Just past 17 miles, Amy was right around 2:30. She feels strong and is ready to pick it up.

Ginger, at around mile 17, feels great and is right on schedule.

Go Amy!!!!

Eden rocks!

This is fun

I am going to be glued to the computer all day. -Sara

Official time

2:24:07

Ginger at mile 20

Ginger just went by mile 20 looking strong. Tim looked at his watch as she passed by mile 20 and it was around 9:53. He said she looked like she was picking up the pace.

She can do this!

She just has to run 8:30s to the finish. She can do that for a 10K. - Sara (I should just sign myself in).

she did look good at 20

strong and focused. I left tom k to run with her and I went back to take a hot shower. Poor Tom, he is tired. He ran the 15k, then about 7 mi with Ginger. The Red Bull effect wore off at some point... he drank more on the way home.

I'm getting off topic. Yeah, Ginger looked GREAT - she was so with it :D

Amy update

She's between miles 20-21, on pace to go under 3:33. She asked Stephen if she should slow down, he said NO!

3:08 at mile 23.

Amy's finish time

3:35:20. She rain with three guys up through mile 20, then dropped them, and proceeded to pass "at least 10 women and 20 men" before the end. She sounded SOOOO happy! Incredible run, Amy...congratulations!

Awesome, Amy!!!

Congratulations!

Jean--Don

Ginger past mile 22

I just spoke to Tim again and Ginger is starting to look a little tired. He saw her at mile 22 and is now waiting for her at mile 24.

Judson just hopped on a bike

and headed off to find her. Imagine!

Unbelievable

He's just a little nuts :)

Mile 24

Ginger has just passed mile 24 and it was around 10:31. She needs to do 2.2 miles in around 14 minutes to qualify for Boston. Either way, it will be a huge PR for her. Her best marathon time is around 4:02.

3:49 and change

Finishing time for Ginger is 3:49ish. She didn't qualify for Boston but she is pleased with her 13 minute PR.

13 minute PR...

Amazing...must have been the skirt! ;-)

Congratulations, Ginger!

Great Job, Ginger

A few months ago you just wanted to break 4 hours. You just crushed 4 hours. You will be a BQ before you know it. -Sara

that he'd watch my cute little tail disappear :)

well it did at the start but it came back after 6 miles

if you remember it was coming closer not running off into the rain /set

you did catch up to me.

but only because I had to stop and tie a shoe!
Just kidding. Nice run, and thank you for such a good weekend.

Great job Judson, Austin, Amy and Ginger. You're inspiring. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of Eden did today too.
