4 I think...

eagle lake parking lot up the nubble around the posts and back down. That is 4 right?

yup

right before you come into the intersection there's a two-stack stone in the copping stone line that marks 2 miles from the bridge. Maybe we should have a group run soon to point out the milestone_marks on EL....

wow

I didn't realize there were such markers out there..I have heard of the phantom trail blazers on the island, but no mention of carriage road id'ers. Thats an amazing bit of info for me! Thank you for filling me in

Shannon Thanks

Good seeing you The kids and Mark. Thanks for that glowing post yesterday. I was just chugging along. The knee is still giving me a problem now and then so I really tend to be overly careful. Good to hear Tim is doing well miss seeing him on Cromwell.
Dsirois if the nubble is the west side of Eagle it is 4 miles.

10K in Old Town

needed a change of zip code. Headed to familiar grounds for the afternoon. Healing up well from Sunday.

This cross training is going well for me. I'm looking forward now to Cabot leg 5 on Saturday.

Day off

Ya, I'm getting a long rest before I start to train again. Nothing is sore and I feel good, but I'll probably take a few weeks off completely, rest the body and mind and then slowly get myself back into shape for a fall marathon. I haven't had a good solid break in a while and I'll need it if I'm to run another marathon to qualify for the trials and then run the trials 4 weeks later.

I was looking at the marathon history page and the last time someone ran a faster marathon in Maine was in 1987 when Bruce Ellis ran 2:21:04 at the Casco Bay Marathon. Think my time was 11th fastest ever run in Maine.

Roland Davide- 2:15:13- Maine Coast 1983
Bruce Ellis- 2:18:38-Sugarloaf 1986
Kurt Lauenstein- 2:20:16- Casco Bay 1981
Bruce Ellis- 2:21:04- Casco Bay 1987
Bruce Ellis- 2:22:21- Sugarloaf 1987
Jimmy Fallon- 2:23:01- Maine Coast 1984
Graig Hepburn- 2:23:10- Casco Bay 1980
Kurt Lauenstein- 2:23:17- Casco Bay 1979
Robert Winn- 2:23:43.3- Casco Bay 1982
Peter Millard- 2:23:45- Sugarloaf 1983
Judson Cake- 2:24:07- Sugarloaf 2007
Dan Vogt- 2:24:37- Casco Bay 1981
Hank Pfeifle- 2:24:38- Casco Bay 1979
Kurt Lauenstein- 2:24:47- Casco bay 1980
Bruce Ellis- 2:25:03- Maine Coast 1986
Peter Millard- 2:25:25- Sugarloaf 1984
Rock Green- 2:25:26- Casco Bay 1981
Gary Wallace- 2:25:38- Maine Coast 1982
Henri Bouchard- 2:25:46- Casco Bay 1984
Henri Bouchard- 2:25:50- Paul Bunyan 1982

I believe that is the current top 20, but please correct me if I'm wrong. There are a lot of 2:26 to 2:30 times. Rock Green had a bunch of 2:26's and I counted at least 38 other sub 2:30's run in Maine by others for a grand total of 58 sub 2:30's run in Maine ever. 14 sub 2:25's, 10 sub 2:24's, 5 sub 2:23's, 4 sub 2:22's 3 sub 2:21's and only 2 sub 2:20's.

Can you tell I'm bored. I definetly didn't miss any from casco bay or maine coast, but I didn't have complete Sugarloaf or Bunyan results since this computer sucks and I cannot open te files. But in the years anyone ran sub 2:30 on any of those courses there is a chance I missed some. I'll have to check it out down at the hubbells computer tommorrow, but after that the list should be very much complete.

I work with

Henri Bouchard in the summer; he is in charge of archery at Beech Cliff.

when you say "two weeks off completely" - seriously? or are you going to hike up every mountain on the island :)

And of course

Just as I say that I look and see Sammy Pelletier ran 2:24:53 at Casco Bay in 1987 for second place, so that's 15 sub 2:25's. And just making the mark 2:29:55 for Gene Coffin at 1985 Maine Coast for second place. Total's up to 59 sub 2:30's

6 miles pigfarm to picnic area .....

and back of course. Ran with Scott Farley, he runs that route a lot and we cross paths often. Good run. 46:53

legs feeling better

finally. See ya at Steamtown Brian!

maine, chicago, steamtown

make up your mind!
Maine for me. Kelly too.

Steamtown

for sure. Fast course=Boston. I guess it's a super easy course, but as Liddy said tonight, "26 miles is still 26 miles." No messin' around, wanna BQ and move on.

you certainly don't have to

decide now, I was just laughing because you keep changing your mind!

Ya, well you didn't even

know about my Jacksonville plan. I just about had my bags packed for Jacksonville Marathon in Dec.

After you guys

get done blowing away all the easy courses, you should come to Jonesboro and do The Mitten Mountain Monster Run. I used the last t-shirt for a dust rag the other day, but, I'd have some more printed up if you'd commit. Just a warning, if you're scared of the dark and heights, scratch all thoughts of it off your list right now.

"easy"

yeah, yeah. I just want to run the Maine marathon again when I'm good and ready for it and tapered and not trying to do it off a summer of triathlon training. Also, I want to run all the marathons in Maine, I think :) so that leaves Sugarloaf and... is the Paul Bunyan marathon happening this year?

Track

It felt good, albeit strange, to try to go hard again. Mike B (the one that didn't move) and I held pretty even on the 200s, and he gapped me pretty solidly on the 400s. The wind did an excellent job of simply cooling us off and not blowing us back. In all a nice reintro to track. Tim, Don, Kevin and our very own hero Lou were all there as well. Did people know he's been to the Darfur region to offer aid? You're a powerful positive force, Lou.

35 miles bike,core

2.5 mile power walk taking in the sites and sounds on a Wed night.Bands rehearsing reminding me of my days playing drums in New Haven CT.Good luck all planning your next marathon. Dave T.

4 + 2 on the track, 7 road miles Tuesday,

Fun to run on the track with the class and feeling a little faster. The 10 week class is over except for the party and Memorial Day race. We've enjoyed picture perfect weather here of late and unusually cool for Florida in May. Life is good in the neighborhood.
