Every Second Counts.
Lunch Run. It's lilac week - don't forget to take a moment and enjoy!
first of the Sub 5 Track Workouts - we ran 400s at day pace - my goal was running 1:25s... here are the hard numbers.
10 minute Warm Up
1 - 1:22 2 - 1:18 3 - 1:18 4 - 1:20 5 - 1:21 6 - 1:21
Remember 1 very important fact : it takes MUCH more courage to show up for a race rested and ready to race, than fatigued and with a "built in" excuse
we're fighting about whether or not I should do the relay swim, too.
no taper is not the guy who goes around after the sheet rock is put up !!! there is not a workout you can do this week that will help you on Sunday But every workout you do this week can hurt you on Sunday !!!! take my word for it i have been in a taper for the last 3 years . well ok on second thought don't look at Me ... i did not run a 1/2 mile between the Sugarloaf races and the first leg of Cabot trail and i was fine . I ran kilometers instead
He just told me, think about the effect a hard 1500m swim will have on your HIM. I don't think it will have that much of a 'fatigue cost' associated with it, and I think it will be fun. So I'm going to.
so what do you call the guy who goes around after the sheetrock is put up?
Are you in time out? Haven't heard from you lately? I've noticed a serious dry spell in chocolate lately. I should be at the lake in the morning.
2 weeks ago you told me no more chocolate !!!! and Alyie he is called the sheetrocker's helper who can figure out what a woman is thinking any idea Bruce
That makes sense, I think.
I had wanted Ian to come with me this weekend, but he can't due to tennis and some senior stuff - he graduates on June 10. I understand that his activities are important to him but I had really wanted his company :( I'm sad.
So I'm driving down myself on Friday. Ian laughed at this; he said "with your navigation skills you'd best leave Thursday."
I'm trying to decide how I'm going to feel being alone for such a big race. I was okay at Ironbear, but this is so much farther...
you can call i can tell you all the things you don't want to hear for a lot less $$$$$ than a coach
JUST KIDDING i am always up early and I am going to Portland with Stephen's school to a Sea dogs game so call if you feel like it and at his track meet he was put in the slow heat and had to run alone and his time still got 4 overall and most of the fast heat was 8th graders when do you come to the ISLAND ???
I start camp training on June 20, but may be there a day or two before that - if not for good, then at least to move some things in.
I'll call later, or tomorrow... I think I'm too upset to be coherent on the phone right now. I was really, really looking forward to a weekend with Ian :(
Yay!
Ahh, it must be summer: six at six with Brian around Eagle Lake. I could still feel the Cabot run in my legs. It felt like we were going much faster than the clock said today. Still, it was great to be out there.
I am really excited for my son, Haydn. He PRed in the 400 with a time of 1.04, and the 800 with a time of 2.28; which is 8 seconds off his best time. I believe he came in 3rd overall for the 800; pretty neat considering it was the Eastern Maine Middle School Championship and there was a lot of school competing.
:)
but at a brisk pace!
First track workout in quite awhile. Three 1200's for me.
hamstring feels better where is your triathalon Alyie? If you ever want to do a slower shorter run, or meet me for a small portion of your longe rurn let me know.
and I would love to run with you when I'm on the island this summer.
I'm calming down. Remember I said this feels 'far away'? It hit tonight. I started to visualize all the little things, for Sunday. Breakfast, either chocolate soymilk, or lemon yogurt. Sunscreen - I thought about putting sunscreen on, and then zipping up the wetsuit - I need help with that, and my mental image was Ian doing it, but then he won't be there annnnnnnd taper attack, I am going to be all alone. I think that 'alone' fear is not the trip but the actual race. I remember at Timberman, the intensity of trying to coax myself through so many miles, and there are other athletes all around you but for 5 + hours you're just talking to yourself, like you're all under a spell. Surreal, again. I can picture myself running and it is a bright and strong and beautiful image, but I remember how much that hurts and I am both wanting to feel that again, and scared to.
so there's the first taper attack, I started crying, and listened to some music to settle out. I'm allowed to be an emotional basket case right now, right? We'll blame tapering and the rest day-
Alyie has a hard time slowing down; she likes one speed- FAST. I know, poor little me was left in a cloud of dust in Boston. So... run with Alyie, she's great, just yell at her to slooow down. I'm bringing my mega-phone the next time I run with her.
1 m w/u 4x1200m@ app.7:30 pace (I think) 200m rest in between each. 100m c/d (ya, not much, I wanted to go eat.) 1:53, 1:53, 1:5?- set one 1:54, 1:53, 1:56-set two 1:57, 1:54, 1:59-set three 1:56, 1:55, 1:55-set four I know and understand if no one reads this, I just enjoy writing it down because I'm an addict at the moment. I suppose there's worse addictions out there.
Tim- my comment about Amy and rollerskates was just a joke. I tried to tell you before you left.
Kevin, thanks for the great workout, I loved it.
but will confess to not understanding what the splits mean, so I'll just tell you 'nice job!'
track workout:me :: swim workout:you
I'm frigging awesome.
know that :)
those are 400m. splits
Amy is ticked. You better watch out.
I knew you were kidding about that...I was more worried that you actually thought I was going through your coat! (it was covering my car keys)
3 x 1200 w/200 recoveries at the track for me. 1.5 w/u, 1.0 c/d.
roughly 5.25 for the day.
followed by a stretch and short row
Thanks for checking in Mike Bunker. Hang in there!
trying to beat the heat. The bullfrogs were cheering for me.
Nice work, Haydn! An 8 sec PR for an 800 is fantastic!
