Jack Bauer makes his 5-k debut tonight.
warmup to the base of the auto road, then 6 min hard, 3 min easy 4 min hard, 2 min easy 2 min hard, 1 min easy 2 min hard, 1 min easy 1 min hard, 1 min rest
(was supposed to be 5,4,3,2,1 with half rests, but I had my watch set for 1 min intervals, so stretched the 5min to 6 and added an extra 2min in place of the 3min.)
(10)x 30sec w/30sec rest on the flat stretch at the top between the parking lot and Blue Hill overlook.
Got a ride down.
Felt very strong -- a lot better than yesterday when my hamstrings were ridiculously tight. (10)x 30" were just the ticket.
Not sure how far I went as I forgot my watch. I think it was about an 1 1/2 hours--from Day Mtn across Stanley Brook Road up to Jordan Pond then out to the Ampitheater and then along the back of Little Long Pond across the bridge and around Barr Hill and back across the Stanley Brook Road and home with my faithful running partner Dasher. Hope everyone has a great day--nice temp for running today.
Vanessa and I just enjoyed about 5 miles ambling along from LLP up to Jordan Pond and back. Sorry we missed Holly & Dasher, who sounded like they were having a grand time. Love this cool weather. Life is good in the woods.
I'm Cadillac bound next week. Nice job with that workout Brian, although you won't need it for Steamtown's course:)
5.5, running a cozy 8:43 pace. I'm happy. a year ago, 10 min.pace was my cozy pace:)
Tom K. ran a FANTASTIC 5k pr in Glenburn. A whopping 18 min. and change. Congrats Tom! He's off for another 5k tonight with Shelly P. He's a wild man.
if it was really a 5k it was short but it was downhill so it felt fast I ended up 10th Austin T was there and ran 15 something ???? so things will go a little slower at Rockland and Stephen is running his first race coming off track season and had a mile time or 5:23 so who knows how this will go ! looking for my second can of Red Bull ! but i guess i will save it until closer to 5pm
My hubby and I are heading out soon....see you at the race!
Are you running the 5k? If so, good luck!
I'm nervous, and why? The only person I am racing against is me!
Ginger, I would love to hear your story sometime, of how you got into running and the wonderful progression you have made...
I'd love to share sometime. I'm going down for a nap now. I'm warming up my bottle now.
here you are!
edit- never mind, the picture won't show for some reason. I'll try to copy it later...
48 minute run, easy.
5k time and put a lid on it! You did a great job. You're starting to sound like Karen.
easy running, just enjoying the ride today. Felt great. Great job Tom K, that is an awesome pr!
Felt good in the cool air, cruised at sub-8, then 3 of my last four miles were 7:37, 7:31, and 7:15. The 7:15 felt a little hard, the others were smooth.
Hoping for a possible maiden kayak voyage later today. Just got them down to the beach :-)
Slow and easy, resting up for a 10K tomorrow. I love 10Ks!
Hopefully someday I'll get to see some splits like that. I'm going to try to keep up with you guys tomorrow, if I can't, I know my way.
Good luck at the 10k Chris. Double knot those laces!
AM: 60 min easy PM: 32 min fast
Welcome to Baa, East Timor!

A bit about Timor
I did screw up, you're right Alyie. I posted the Rockland 5k race reports on Thur. log.
Suzanne. Three years ago I tried running around Duck Bridge with a server from Galyn's. It went terribly and I can't remember why, when, or where my second run was. I do remember running in my first race (N.E. Hbr. 5 miler) a month or two later with a time of 61 min. I never walked once and the feeling of accomplishment was like a drug. I loved it- hooked from there. The Memphis Half Marathon was next with a time of 2:23. I ran my first marathon 5 months later with a time 4:54. Loved it!
I've never been athletic and it's plain to see from my race times that I don't have much natural ability. Anyone who is driven enough (and without injury) can accomplish whatever they want. Time is another important factor. I am so lucky to have my mom as a babysitter every morning. Truly, the support from Eden Athletics has been the biggest impact.
I find you very inspirational!
You are lucky to have your Mom; as much as I love DeLaney I get very frustrated having to run with her almost all the time. But I know it will get better when she's a bit older....
I was shooting for anything under 28:43 today, and I ran 28:44!!! Ugh! Mile 1 was good in 9:15, mile 2 better at 9:04, and I can always pick it up in the end but I couldn't push any further in mile 3. I was tracking my pace but then my GPS quit in the middle of mile 1. Oh well; it was still fun and always great to see Tom and family, and Shelly!!
When and where did you run 28:43? I noticed you killed your Unity time and Unity's a fast course. I know you had the stroller at Unity but you had some hills today.
on Mothers Day. :)
but an interesting day. Some lifting at the Y and stretchin'. Then 2 hours down the Ipswich Kayakin' ... Judson, my brother-in-law and new wife went down over the rock dam ... had to chuckle some.
Keep running!

I wasn't allowed to race so I took the entire field out in just over 4:40 for the first mile and then pushed to about 2-k before jogging in. It wasn't an easy course and it was about 90 degrees at the start. I wanted to make sure I could go out in about 4:40 for the LL Bean 10-k in 2 weeks, so that's all I did. Mainers better be ready in two weeks to go out fast.
84 miles
