"Run like hell and get it over with." -- Clarence deMar

Go Mary D.!

And good luck Judy and Liddy!

11m with a great group & pumpkin rolls!

Enjoyed a beautiful morning run with Suzannah, Tim, James, Matt, Doug, & Frank (thanks for carrying water & the company). Got to see Melanie from First Strdes. Good to see Mark, Sara, Amy T, Ginger, & Aaron too. Just when you think life can't get any better in the woods, John brought over some incredibly delicious pumpkin rolls & blueberry muffins. They were awesome. Thanks Bonnie!

Good luck to all of our racers today!

8 miles with Mark...

around the lake plus some more. Nice gang this morning.
Great way to start the day.

13 + Race Report

13 on trails w/TJ in Steep Falls. Legs a little sore after yesterday.

Eliot race report from yesterday...
few easy miles in the AM before heading down, quick 5-10 min. warmup pre-race.

5:03 Too fast but anyone who knows Eliot knows that it rolls downward for a good part of that
10:14 at the 2mile. I knew that I had a shot at 16, but I didn't give myself much breathing-room. It became apparent about a 2 minutes into the last mile that I just didn't have it to get there when I wasn't able to move after the initial uphill (it climbs for about 600m-700m, and then starts to level off a little before heading downhill back into town.
15:44 at the 3 and the remaining 32 seconds or so. I had 16:15 on the watch, but can't fight chip timing.

still, 16:16 is a 20 second or so PR for me. I'll take it. I have some mental stuff to work through though because as soon as I new that 3rd mile was going to be off I kind of lost it. I would have been better served to maybe back off 5 seconds on that first mile...but you live you learn.

10 total on the day

Ow.

Hey,

which marathon are you running this fall?
Inquiring minds are curious.

hoping your legs aren't too sore...

Alyie

Most likely

Columbus in three weeks, but I am remaining flexible and keeping my options open, hoping that I can work out some of these "issues", which I am told are all related to my inflexibility. Pretty ironic, huh, being flexible because I am inflexible.

7750 scy

I want to race
I want to feel that fear that sets in before a 1650, the cheshire grin I get up on the blocks as the fear turns into energy. I want Geoff at the end of my lane with cards, so I don't have to count, just watch for the orange one.
I want to dive off that block and swim as fast as I can back to it, because Zach's up on it, watching my shoulders, waiting to dive in over me.
I want to feel all that pain that only happens when I race... and that ache all around my shoulder blades, and that glow after.
Maybe it's Zach's fault, because on Friday he asked what my goals were, and I didn't know what to say. 5:30? 18:59? Break a minunte in the 100? I just want to race.

Speedin' Eden

Strong Eden showing at the Belfast Pancake 5k this morning. Robin, RK, and Shannon (with stroller) all won their age groups. Suzanne had a huge pr, and Tom had a great race too. I did not pr, but I felt good about the way I ran.

Stopped off at White's apple orchard on the way home to top off a beautiful fall day.

19+M

Ow. Actually felt good in 2:29. Mostly gravel trails (except 7M). A dip in the Ipswich R., too.

Keep running!

Good group out for the Sunday run..

and Bonnie's pumpkin swirls and blueberry muffins at the finish were truly a bonus. It was nice to have Susannah, Aaron, and James join us from Blue Hill. Ginger and Amy N. came out for their last "long" runs and look ready for their marathons next week. It was also good to see Melanie M. from First Strides heading out for a loop around Eagle. Hope all went well today for Mary D at Clarence deMar, and for Liddy and Judy in the Cadillac Challenge. Great day for a long ride!

And congrats to the pancake runners too. Good work!

New marathon world record

Geb ran 2:04:26 at Berlin. I think that's just under 4:45 per mile. I think I've run a 2-mile race at that pace.

I think

I've done 20 meters at that pace. Oh no, wait, that was not running, that was the Demon Drop at Cedar Point amusement park.

Cedar point

You are so lucky you live near that. hey have so many awesome roller coasters.

You are right, it is awesome

although I haven't been there in years. Perhaps that's just what I need to work out some of these kinks! A few laps on the Top Thrill Dragster ought to do it.

"The Top Thrill Dragster will never operate in the rain, even if it is only a slight drizzle. This is due to the pain caused by raindrops hitting the riders at 120 mph."

:-)

cool!

I love roller coasters :D
Maybe we need to all come visit you, and we can run (and stretch ;-) and then go to Cedar Point!!!
(miss you)

5k PR! 24:21

I took 4 minutes and 22 seconds off my prevous best, which I am really excited about!

So far Ive done a 1 mile warmup, the race, and 1.5 mile cooldown. I am supposed to do 10 today, but I think taking girls to Bangor for Homecoming dresses was the hardest workout of all. I will do a few more later if I can find someone willing to watch DeLaney.

Belfast was great, especially the company...Tom, Robin, Karen, and Shannon....and kids of course, too! A great day!

Awesome

That is very cool. That's a huge PR. Looks like you'll be giving Ginger some competition soon.

hey, hey

calm down.

PR + shopping

I think you have earned the right to take the rest of the day off. That is a huge chunk of time, especially for a 5K...congratulations!

That's the most dramatic drop

I've ever heard of in a a 5k, and you weren't even going for broke at the end of this one! Nice job, and I can't wait to see how well you do in a couple weeks.

Congrats in 5k Suzanne

knocking off over 4:00 plus in any distance is substantial.Great job!

GREAT JOB!!!

You are SO ready for your marathon! All your hard work ~ not to mention pushing Delaney during most of it ~ has made you an extremely strong runner! Congrats!

Sat+Sun

Ran 60 minutes yesterday.

Ran 83 minutes today, strides.

Probably a day off tomorrow.

Slacker

:-)

hee hee

I'm running more min.'s then you right now, and I will be on Sun. too.

Anything can happen

I might have to walk the whole way.

That is impressive

Suzanne! I couldn't wait to call Tom and find out how you did, I knew it would be big! That should give you some confidence for MDI. Great job to the rest of you racers too!

75 min. with Sara, Amy N., Amy T., and Aaron. Great job Sara- I bet we were running 9:00 min pace for a good chunk! You're getting your strength back:) You pushed yourself through the challenging days of running with a new born. You should be proud of yourself.

i think it was 13.5

around the park today. most of it with Bob, Susannah, James, Doug, Frank and Matt. last 2.2 were fast (6:45ish?).

followed it up with a good soak at the pier and 1 & 1/2 breakfast at two cats.

hope the challenge went well...we want reports!

8 miles,core

legs a little tight post 5k including left hammy but I'll ice it and that should settle it.My youtube.com music clip of week super vintage Rolling Stones doing Beatles cover live "I Wanna Be Your Man".Funny how Stones version holds up but Beatles sound wimpy. http://youtube.com/watch?v=a8achh-7qpU

9?

My kids did their first fun run this morning at the Pancake 5k. It's funny to watch them zip along and then walk. Slowly. They finished up the run in spurts, and then continued to zip and fade throughout the rest of the day. I'll bet they've done several miles each today, but not even two quarters contiguously.

22:09 on my watch today. That must be a jogger pr for me. It was great seeing Ryan, Tom, Karen, Suzanne, Robin, Jeff and MaryAlice, and even Tom who cruised by me at the end. He got me on the 'hills.' I swear there are a couple bumps there, and they qualify as hills for me. : ) If I knew how to use Vanessa's watch I'd have splits...

I ran a little more (35 mins) in Belfast after being cheap labor for the in laws. Anyone heard about Mary's marathon yet?

Looks like she had a pretty g

Looks like she had a pretty good run! 58th overall...
