Go Wildcats!
Good luck to everyone running today!
.
It's a good day to run fast. I was pleased with my best time this year, 41:01, but you'd have thought I could have found 2 seconds out there somewhere. Oh well, something to shoot for next time & it was a good run. Got to see Craig & Joann (I think) but we were headed in opposite directions at a pretty good clip. Enjoyed a short walk (sure get cold fast once you stop running) with Vanessa, who asked me to post her 3 miles @ an 11:36 pace too.
We're anxious to hear how the Wildcat racers did today. Go team!
Life is good in the woods & it will be better when we get our heat working again!
Nice job on your years best at EL! :)
I need to be sure I get your ice pack back to you guys, and I am not sure when you are heading out. Let's keep in touch so I don't forget; and thank you again for letting me use it! I doubt I would have iced as much as I have been; it is so much easier with the wrap.
I am very pleased with my race today! Between not really running because of my knee, the hilly parts, and the temp, I wasn't expecting too much, but as it turns out it was my second best 5k ever! My time was 24:43 I think. I did maybe 4.5ish for the day (maybe slightly less) and no knee pain at all. I am keeping my Dr appt to be on the safe side, but I am very happy about that! :)
As always, nice to see everyone- and thank you all the volunteers, and Frank and Brian!
Glad you had a good race and especially that your knee is better. Smart of you to keep that appt. Good job!

I was so wrapped up in the marathon that I didn't really pay attention to the Point Series until very late in the season. Since I do not plan on running a fall marathon next year, I hope to participate in many more of the races than I did this year. It's gonna be fun! :)
Congratulations everyone!
I did some new races 'out of Series' this year, but I think the Point Series is great, and with some attention to planning races with the Series in mind, I pretty sure I can bring up the number of Series races I compete in next year...and there looks like some slots are open in my class...
it went really well in its first year. I'll definetly run most of the races next year as well as help out anyway I can.
If you're thinking of dethroning me, Juddy, think again. I'm ready for you :)
But just remember, I'll be in your age group in 9 days, so there is even more on stake.
I was thinking of making my first race back at the 5-k in Bangor on December 30th. I think in 6 weeks we'll be able to whip each other into sub 16 shape at least and fight it out with the locals over a free pair of shoes. Since I won't be getting free shoes anymore I'll be highly motivated.
the great volunteers who put on the events & kept up with all the results and administration.
The Tremont 5k was great fun today in part because we are into the season of careful attention to layers when running. I had several options in my car, depending...as I'm not quite organized yet this year when it comes to 'what to wear'. It was somewhat windy and somewhat cold, but not anything like what we expect is coming in the next months. I, with others, debated whether to wear leggings and arm-covers, hat or no hat, wind breaker or winter running jacket. This made the whole thing just so much more interesting. I enjoyed seeing quite a few young people running the 5k. Also, good thing I had my checkbook handy for the Craft Show running in the gym. And having a bake sale at the site of the 5K registration wasn't a bad move for the Craft Sale fundraisers either. Good to see everyone, and thanks to the volunteers who put on a good and safe race, and to the Eden crew who managed the timing and results.
I couldn't help notice that in 3rd place, I was the youngest of the top 3 women finishers today. Let's here it for the over forty and fabulous!
Great to see everyone out and running today. It looks like many people did fast times despite the wind and ice.
Thanks to Frank, Brian, Liddy and Nora for the timing and results. You guys make a great team.
back on the Otter Cliff Rd. again. Nice run.
Great job, all of those who raced today!
Have you checked your email lately? :)
I'm so sorry! I have read my e-mails, I was just waiting until I had more than 5 min. to respond. I've been very busy with working doubles, b-day parties and trying to run too. When I e-mail I like to be relaxed and have time:)
Nice going to all the Wildcatters. Congrats. to the Series winners, also!
My warmup consisted of sidling up to folks--ones I knew and complete strangers--and asking them if they had a bike pump on them. Somehow Tom K got into my car between Thursday afternoon and this morning and fully deflated one of my baby jogger tires. : ) That warmup strategy worked for me, though, because this was a rolling course and I liked having every ounce of energy available to get up a couple of those hills. Suzanne blew by me in the last fifteen seconds or so and looked terrific. Tom should have, but was too busy laughing at me sprawled over the handlebar and just jogged behind me.
I'm most impressed with Judy for her multiple great finishes encouraging lots of runners, and with Carey who got her best time by a couple minutes on a harder course than her previous best. Lots of fun. Thanks Frank/Hubbells/Tremont school for putting it on.
a certain First Strider I know would post a race report about her debut run because was was FABULOUS!!!
at the running of the Wildcats 5k to conclude the EA-Jack Russell's Steakhouse Points Series. Good to see Carey and Melanie from First Strides running strong. Many thanks to team Hubbell for timing/results and to John M. for his assistance with course marking.
On one leg of the Stone Cat 50M/Marathon in Willowdale SF. I rabitted/paced a runner during their last leg. Only one person passed us and we passed about a half dozen+. Fun to help out a runner when they're low on energy. David Herr came in second in the 50 miler and the 1st place person broke the course record. The owner of the brewery, Rob Martin, ran the marathon. Fun day. Next year I suppose I'll have to do 50M at 50.
Congratulations to the series winners!
Keep running!
why not? what a motivation too: 50 at 50 :)
This is an unsolicited plug for the new Eden long sleeve shirt. I bought one yesterday and love the material. I predict it soon will become a winter staple for Eden runners everywhere. Great job Eden apparel department!
70 miles, most of that Wildcat style!
