Sunday, November 11: Daily Log

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away ~ anon

ABP/7B/EL

Boy was my breath taken away! Pretty day out there and the skim of ice on the ponds and streams were beautiful, but that wind was a bit chilly! I'm going to miss the carriage roads that change every day...

4 crisp miles....

on the pigfarm road, a.k.a the high ho trial. 26 years ago today I landed at air force boot camp, any body else in the club a veteran? Just curious.

Not me

My husband is, though. Thanks for your service John.

Somewhere between seven and eight with Mark and Bob this morning. We just missed meeting up with the 8:00 group at EL (we went through there at 8:10ish) but regardless it was a great run.

vet

'68 army - Lou

50 min spinning

Zach too

5 miles treadmill

Thought I would see how my knee would tolerate running two days in a row; felt great...only a slight tightness at 4.8 miles, so a major improvement!

6M walk.

It's nippy out there! :-)

About 3.5 Miles

yesterday in Seal Harbor for the edenometer then Christmas shopping in Bangor for the day:)

Don't forget

to count the miles you logged while shopping.

An hour

of basement skiing, plus some core and stretching.

Anyone have some printing quatlity photos of Eagle Lake?

I have a project and need a couple of nice photos of the lake and or bridges If anyone would like to share them I would MUCH APPRECIATE it! email them to John's email address. jmurphy42@verizon.net
Thanks, Bonnie

Hey John

I meant to ask you earlier and I forgot....whats the Hi-O Trail like these days? I almost had a very bad fall on wet leaves there a few weeks ago, and have been afraid to go back there since....

it's pretty bad....

lots of fallen tree debris and loose rocks. Not good for pushing a stroller. Still quite runnable for me though.

3 miles on the 'mill

in the baement late this afternoon with some core work. spent the morning putting kayaks, porch furniture and extra flower pots away for the winter. Logs freezing together now and the soil in the outside flower pots frozen too.

Family walk

We went on a nice hike up the Traid from JP, down by the stables and looped back via the carriage roads. Cold, but nice.

Maggie logged 9 steps in a row this afternoon. Bring it on Delany.:)

Haha!

DeLaney is pacing herself! She is still at 4 steps! :)

90 minutes

Around Eagle Lake with Evan, Doug, and Michelle, and then a bit more.

Sad story from the NE XC meet

Judson and I ran with this kid and his friend Sadam a couple of times down at the Lewiston meets in June. You might remember that Judson paced Mohamed to a mile PR and then offered him his racing flats. Anyway, Mohamed seemed like a really good talented kid and, fresh to running, just very much a stranger in a strange land. Hope he's okay after this.

That

is terrible. Some of those comments after that article were pretty mean as well. If I'd seen that happen I would have buried Mr. Sandman up to his neck at low tide and left him. i did that with all my GI Joes when I was a kid and it worked really well at getting rid of them.

That is really upsetting

Both the act and the comments supporting it. I hope he remembers the people like Judson who supported his running while he speeds past the idiots.

solidarity

perhaps as this unfolds, we may find an opportunity for Eden folk to lend support to Mohamed and the Lewiston team. It sounds to me as though the coach is supportive, that's important, although the race can't be re-run.

At least

it was New Englands and not the Footlocker qualifying race. If he had missed going o nationals because of that, that would probably mean loosing a scholarship.

I'd be willing

to line a course at any 5k he enters to ensure it's a clean race. I'm sad to read that anyone would actually do something that awful to any runner.

So, looking at Shannon

pushing that double stroller, I always felt relieved knowing I would only ever have to push a single. Well, maybe not! :) Just found out that at my tender age of 37, I am going to be a grandmother! Can you get over it? My oldest boy, Andrew (nearly 20) and his girlfriend Jenny, who I adore, are expecting! I vow to be the coolest, hippest granny on the block!

Sorry, not exactly running related, but was too excited not to share! I was keeping it a secret until they had time to tell my folks, but the secret is out now! :)

LONG feels longer in the cold...

2:30:00 and not one second farther. I paid my club dues today, so I shall start adding my miles to the Ed'ometer-- probably 19 or so. Eagle Lake and all around-- late, b/c 8AM is just too d@#% early.

Nice to see everyone in regular-life costumes at Jack Russell's...

12 miles,core

dropped pace at 6:45pm start in suddenly frigid cold weather.Around 35 but windy and an icy wind closer to Jan then Nov.Good luck all doing weather delayed make-up Patriot's Day 5 miler here in Portland tomorrow.

workout today

at the track. 3/4 mile w/u then, 6x1000 with 3 min. rest. Each 1000, I floated the curves and sprinted the straight. Judson wanted me to do 10 sets but I figured since I was part icicle due to the windchill I stopped at 6. I wish my pacing could have been more consistent, I swear it was the shifting wind's fault. I was irritated because I could have done 10 with no problem if it hadn't been so windy and cold. It really sucks to do a track workout in windy, cold conditions- I'm sure Brian can relate. Judson expected me to do my 1000's in 5:10-5:15, I did them much faster so I was psyched about that.

Congrats Suzanne! I bet you're the fastest grammy-to-be around:)

I heard

it was windy and cold in Maine today.

Well, here it was in the 80's. First we went to the Thai festival and got some food. It was really cool. The people seemed so nice and you couldn't even tell a whole city was around you. There were monks and the whole thing seemed like you were in another country.

Then we headed to Hanauma Bay to go Snorkeling and sit on the beach. It was wild. They make you go into this theatre and watch this 10 minute movie about the bay and things to do and not to do. Then they take you out the back door and you go down and down and finally you get to the beach and it's just awesome. We saw all kinds of fish and it was very cool. My favorite thing was to dive down about 20 feet and hang out at the bottom looking around. One good thing about all the running I do is my lungs are strong and I can hold my breath for a long time.

After that Autumn and I did some of our pre wedding pictures. Some in fancy hotels, others on the beach.

I'm tired now.

Tomorrow we are going to tour the island in the rental car.

See everyone in about a week.
