Happy Thanksgiving, Eden!
gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble.... PARDON ME... please!!!!!!! So I can go for another 6M... gobble... gobble... gobble.... walk tomorrow! Gobble, gobble, gobble...
I had pumpkin pie for breakfast
at least a 2 mile warm up and then the local 2.8M "Run for the Pies" in 18:20 (unofficial). Came in 2nd in my age group I think. Someone from GAC beat me. Couldn't have done much better even though my right calf started to cramp at about 1.2M. I don't feel no stinkin' pain. Gobble, Gobble (translated "Happy Thanksgiving but don't eat me").
Keep running!
What an awesome group today. There had to have been close to 40 people. I've been to races thast have less than that. It was really great to see all the familiar faces and meet some new people.
Ran with Matt, Evan and Maggie for most of it. We took turns pushing the stroller. That should really help get Matt and I into shape over the next couple of months.
Other than the number of people at the run I was most surprized with Suzanne. I was amazed. She should be very proud of the hard works she's done.
Thank you!
It was great to see you again, and I am very excited to have the chance to talk to you about coaching me!
with about 40 friends or so. Nice treats after too. Happy Thanksgiving and nice to meet so many people today.
Great to see such a large group at Eagle Lake this morning, including a good crew of First Striders. Thanks to Bonnie, John, Kevin, Tim..and others who brought treats for us to enjoy after the loop.
Happy Thanksgiving!
What a wonderful showing today....I had a fabulous time and did my loop with CeCelia, Melanie, and Samantha. Great company and yummy treats after- thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I sure have a lot to be thankful for, and all of you are among that list.
today. I ran with a woman named Julia, we had a nice time. Suzanne, I would really love to see a before and after picture of you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Julie did AWESOME in her half marathon today, weather was great and I guess part of it was on the Jacksonville Marathon course. She'll report later. Congrats Julie!
That is a wonderful shot that says it all. It makes me proud to see the Eden spirit, but reminds me how much I miss all of you.
No running miles for me today, but an eternity on the Nordic Track, followed by core, stretching, and icing.
I'll be joining you for some Nordic track later.
rainy and drizzly around 37 degrees at race start.Road surface was slick I slipped a couple times.Might have been better off with trainers instead of flats. Some killer times Chris Gatchell and Adam Goode had excellent races. Not a PR for me this time 23:46-5:57.Great pics from this morning now that is a running group.Happy Thanksgiving all!
Merry Thanksgiving to you all.
love, Alyie
felt good
I kept thinking about Pumpkinman. 10 months away and that's what's motivating me? Moosey and Timberman are so much closer.
Way to make me miss you all more!!! What an awesome group picture!!!
Well, my first 1/2 marathon went better than I expected...I figured anything under 2 hours, and after looking at my splits from the MDI marathon, I was shooting for 1:54. The rain started about 20 minutes before the race...and about 200 of us were still in the lines for the porta-potties (which we'd been in for 40 minutes) when the cannon went off. No matter...since it was chip timed most of us stayed in line and got to the start as soon as we could. There was such a big crowd that it took 4-5 minutes for everyone to get over the start line, anyway.
The course is pretty flat and the rain kept it cool...plus starting at the back really perks up the old ego when you're passing people! My left calf (the same as the marathon!) started cramping up around mile 3 (I think from not training on hard surfaces), so I just decided to relax and enjoy this new race mileage...didn't matter what I ran it in, it would be a PR!
Once the calf calmed down, I kept picking out "rabbits" ahead of me...each time I passed one I'd pick out another. I felt strong the whole run, never really felt like I was out of breath or running too hard.
The official results haven't been posted, but the Garmin showed 1:45 which I am SO pleased with. To run that consistently throughout the 1/2 and feel good the whole time was big for me.
This course was run partly on the Jax marathon course ~ you've got it in the bag, Ginger!!!
Lookslike you'll be ready to pace Ginger in a few weeks.
The "official" results were finally posted on the website:
Official time ~ 1:45:59 ~ 8:14 pace 16th in my age group (total of 116) 101 overall (total of 884 finishers)
Pretty happy with those results. Had it been a planned race I'm sure I could have done much better, but considering it was last minute ~ not bad!
It was sooo good to see so many people this morning. Judson looked pretty good pushing Maggie. Very Happy to see the First Striders there. Chris G we miss you here. I wish I had been able to stay for the goodies but had to pick up Jeans son at BIA and to top it off the plane was early and we ended up being very late. Enjoy the Day and the Weekend.

You didn't see me going up the long hill and having to hand Maggie off to Evan. I was breathing pretty heavy then.
Still we covered the lake in about 41 minutes. Maggie is going to have some tough pr's to beat someday.
I know what it feels like to have to hand the stroller off half way up the hill. Wish I knew what it feels like to run the lake in 41 minutes. Pretty impressive.
Nice work everyone who ran the 4-miler today. Some good runs today.
really rockin' for Maine. That's a great race. I only ran it twice but I loved it.
but you probably won it twice too.
But, I was so far behind both times I didn't even see the first guy finish. I think Sam Wilbur won it both times I ran. Finished 5th one year & 2nd the other. The year I finished 5th, there were some pretty fast runners in the field. Wilbur, Peddie, Winn, Clapper... one, two, three, four... I got buried. I think that was the order of finish -- must of been mid to late 90's? Jeff Caron's winning time today was excellent, too.
No shame in losing to any of those guys.
Jeff is really doing well. He has put himself in a great environment. I'm going to be focussing on 10-k and under distances most of 2008, so hopefully we can have some good battle. When I'm in marathon training he is simply beyond me.
It was super to see so many people out at Eagle Lake this morning. I started the run with Ginger and Julie from RI, and finished the run with Liddy and Tom. Thanks everyone for the wonderful treats! The coffee made my day (thanks John).
It's very funny to me to think of little Maggie flying around the lake with Judson, Evan and Matt. That girl is going to be fearless.
Great job Julie! That's an awesome time. We missed you this morning.
Happy belated birthday Judson. Nice to have you back in town.
It's great to be back.
:) Not nearly as awesome as the half you all ran this summer, but that one scares me!
Hey... Matt, Brian, Liddy, and Judson, how are your abdominals feeling? Mine are killing me. Whenever I cough they really hurt, I'm glad we only did one set.
LL bean has 30% off winter running/ x/c ski clothes starting today jackets/ pants long sleeve tops hats gloves mens and ladies
Vanessa & I trotted about for 5 each. I did 40 min on the ET beforehand. Sounded like a wonderful time at Eagle Lake. Great job Julie on your 1st 1/2! Life is good.
40 x Eagle Lake = 260 mi 3 x Thanksgiving 4 mi race = 12 mi 1 x Steve's Turkey Trot = 4.5 mi 1 x Julie's Half Marathon = 13.1 mi the rest of us = 22 miles
