Kelly's had a spin marathon today to raise money for her own marathon this spring - she's running Boston and raising money for Dana Farber. So teaching two classes is my excuse for a long training day :D well, the "cycling" part of it anyway.
Rest tomorrow.
So, I didn't start keeping a written log until February 26th of this year, so this is most of my year, but not all.
Stats for 2007:
Stationary Bike Miles- 65 (Soon to go up!)
Running Miles- 1095.6
Crunches- 31,100
Pushups- 6,218
Races- 14
Even though I have been a runner since 2002, this is my first *really serious* year....so I am happy with these numbers! :)
very impressive! You just reminded me... I need to go do my crunches.
I'm terrible at keeping track, particlularly over the course of a whole year, so I'm not only impressed with what you've done, but also that you were conscientious enough to record it. It'll be a good resource for you to see how you built up to good races and what works well for you.
A couple miles walking, and a mountain of shoveling!
Nice numbers, Suzanne!
I have a postcard training log. The first summer I was on the island, I rarely got to talk to Kelly - the wonderful woman who coached me in high school :) - so I started sending her a postcard each week, with nothing but the days of the week written out and my running miles next to them. It was fun to do and I've kept up with it, so she's got a nice stack of postcards in her office that now details a year and a half of my training. I think she's got a copy of every island postcard, probably duplicates because I've raided Port in a Storm and all the shops on Main Street several times. Now when anyone I know goes someplace cool, I ask for a couple postcards - Zach had better bring back a stack of 'em from Puerto Rico... he's good, part of my Christmas present was a handful of postcards, including a Colby one!
I have a computer based log and stuff gets recorded in my journal too, but I love my postcard log. Judson and Bunker could verify for you that I love love love postcards :)
I'll try and add stuff up tomorrow. My swimming volume was low this year (it's all relative!), I don't think I've made my way back from the Bahamas.
multisport madness :D
swim - 734,000 scy + 14.5 hrs open water bike - 185.3 hours run - 1,436 miles
total hours - 601 rest days - 39
2006 I averaged about 93 miles a week. So whatever that equals out to for the year. But remember it was basically my job.
2007 I was averaging 98 per week up until October. I haven't kept track of anything since then. Probably next week when I start running more than 90 a week I'll start to count the mileage.
for an hour on Day Mountain--no idea how far--estimated it on the edenometer. Great day to be outside!
5 miles+ cross country skiing with Tom, Eagle Lake/Witch Hole. Saw Judy there too.I've got new skate skis but didn't try them today, ran out of time at the end and Tom was really whining about being hungry and stuff. Bruce B., I do have a Bichon Frise. His name is Gus, so I'm guessing he's much less sophisticated than Pierre, because Gus suits him fine.He is a sweetie and totally devoted to his "official" owner, one of our 5 year old beastie boy twins. We also have 2 yorkies and a Cairn terrier.I love them all.Did you know that the Bichon was bred from the beginning with only one purpose, to be a human companion.Unlike say terriers, who were bred to hunt rats and vermin.Gus has taken it to the level where he believes he is human too.He likes to be held in the sitting up position.Like you would hold a 1 year old child.Gus is 6 months old and soon will, ah, lose his ability to have children (puppies, if he thought he was a dog).
Snowshoe running with Matt F. Starting on ledgelawn and going to Thunder Hole and back on the Park loop road. Might be the longest snowshoe run I've ever done in unpacked snow. So much for an easy day.
I'm amazed at how quickly new puppy Pierre has adjusted to his new surroundings. The official owner in our household is my eleven year old niece, but he loves the entire family. He's like glue. Whenever one of us is on the move, he's tagging along right behind. So far, he's been one lovely dog. Before he landed, I'd read that Bichons are difficult to housebreak, which concerned me a bit, but up until now, (knock on wood)except for a couple of minor accidents, he's gone right to his Pee Mat. If the first week's any indication of the years ahead, he's going to be a great friend.
Sorry that I haven't had any miles to report of late, folks, and I'm afraid it's going to get worse before it gets better. For the most part, you'll have to keep the wheels on Edenometer 2008 spinning without me. Happy New Year everyone. May it be a healthy one for all. Go team!
Hope you are ok. happy new year!
..just easing out of the old year on the virtual river. Happy New Year Eden Nation!
another substantial storm predicted for tomorrow. This is becoming surreal.Great to see your running progress Suzanne.Always a great feeling to see consistency in training pay off.Happy 2008 all.
Eagle Lake and around Witch Hole. Shelly and Tom out there as well as others. beautiful skiing.
56 miles
