Swim Meet!

Fun for the fishies!

Mid-Maine Winter Warm-Up Meet
Waterville Area YMCA
January 13, 2008
warmup at 9, splash time's 10

Pretty full list of evets - 50, 100, 200 of all strokes, 100 and 200 IM, 500, and 1000/1650 (pick one). Actually I think the only thing that's missing is the 400 IM, ad 25s... but even my sprintiest of sprint friends don't like 25y races.

this feels real now

that I posted it :D oooh I love swim meets.

on the to-do list: get a spare pair of goggles and a new racing suit

I have time goals but I don't want to say them because they are scary fast. (I'm sure I'll fret about them all week... but it would scare you if your swim coach told you to go out in a 1:09 and come back in a 1:11... for the first 200 of your 1650... right? that's fast. My fear is not unreasonable!)

new goal

I just need to get to next Sunday HEALTHY.

But if you want to know, it's a 19:48 I'm after for my 1650. Significant because it's 6-minute 500 pace, three times plus 150. Zach says "19:59 is a beautiful number." But I want to go far under 20, not just break it by a second.

We'll see. The key is show up healthy and then all I'll have to worry about is going fast, not shoulder pain.

I'm sorry... I talk too much... it helps to write it though, then it is out of my head :) and I stop obsessing.

new racing suit: CHECK

actually it's not really a racing suit, but it is a new suit that's tight enough to race in. (Dear Speedo Company: please make a two piece, out of Fastskin material, so that I would have a suit that is both sexy AND fast).

This one's a one piece and it's a simple but nice Nike splice, black and bright blue. It made me smile because I wore a Nike suit the last time I raced a mile (April) and a couple good things happened. I won. I lapped the guy two lanes over, he took me out to dinner after, and now we're dating.

OOOH I'm excited!
