"It takes courage to do it, to be a runner. Because it's about more than fatigue. It's about pain, and dealing with it for a long time. And it's about resolve."
~ Quenton Cassidy (John L. Parker, Jr....Again to Carthage)

Suzanne beat me

for Monday, so I'll pre-post Tuesdays!

I bet

that'll be the only time I ever beat you! LOL

4 miles

then 100+ situps and upper body weights. Still very sore from Sat. I went to bed at 9 last night because it hurt too much to move.

Ha!

That must have been one helluva hill workout the other day. I'll do the 100+ situps to match your day today, but make no guarantees about charging up hills to match you on your hard days. : )

And Suzanne, I'm expecting you to pass me before too long. No joke.

hard hill workout

OR I'm just not in good hill shape. But ya, it was a hard workout for me.

I wanna learn

how to travel to the future like Ginger.

pssst it's MONDAY!

I don't know Suzanne...

you're basically picking us off like flies. It's great because it's (at least motivating me) to work harder. I'm sure others are inspired too.

You guys

are foolish.:)

Inspired,

proud, and more than a little envious. You just keep getting faster and faster. Keep up the good work, Granny!

;-)

Alyie,

That freaked me out! I didn't realize I was posting on Tue. until I read your comment. That Julie's gonna get it!

when you post tomorrow's run

it's going to look like a double!

HEY!!!

I was VERY clear ~ I can't help it if you don't read before you post! :)

5 mi

+ 25 min teaching spin class

Swim later, and I'm getting a massage tonight!

4700 scy, Colby style

The Colby pool has a circle window at one end, and I truly felt like I were in a fishbowl. And the deck is littered with paddles, fins, pull buoys, kickboards, water bottles, goggles, caps - all these things, at the ends of their lanes, on the blocks. "It looks like they live here," I told Zach, because it truly did feel like I were in someone's home, as if going to class were just the break between morning and afternoon practice. It was like stepping into a house that children live in, bright and happy with toys all over the floor.

Cycling and running have ruined my legs for kicking. You don't need it as much for distance, but sprints you do. And on the fast 50s, Zach had four seconds on me. I tried, but my legs weren't there, didn't have the explosiveness. Not that I race sprint freestyle, but all I could think about is the fatigue that's built up in them. I can feel them flush with lactic acid when I walk up stairs...

I got revenge on the distance set. He wasn't trying on the 800, and I lapped him twice - or would have, except he stopped just after I did. "No friggin' way!" I snapped, "do your last hundred." He smiled, wouldn't, we did the easier stuff and on the 600 he started trying, I was closing in on him but didn't lap him. And the 400 he did try, and out-touched me. Still... 9:59 high, 7:30 something, 4:53. Slowtwitch pride :D

The good thing is that I wasn't trying that hard either - it didn't hurt at all, I didn't have that 'lightning liquified' feeling and those are half decent workout times. So Sunday should go well.

3 x 300 w/u
8 x 50 dr/sw on :50
8 x 50 fast easy on 1:00

800 (9:59.xx)
300 back + 300 pull
600 (7:30)
200 back + 200 pull
400 (4:53)
100 back + 100 pull

5.5M

in 43 min. along the warm riva' (but still has some ice). I just felt tired the whole run. Wanted to take my shirt off just to prove how warm it was. Abs/core and lower back workout; topped off with some stretchin'.

Keep running!

76 minutes

Easy with Matt F.

in your shorts?

hey Judson was that you and Matt who went flying by the Lab earlier in your shorts? People commented to me about these runners...and I thought of you :)

Yup

That was us. Many others out and about as well.

7 miles with Ginger and Amy

We did a 2 mile warmup, and then a workout. Can't remember what it was called, but 6 min hard, 3 min rest, 5 min a bit harder, 2:30 rest etc etc working down to 1 min, and then a cool down. The weather and company were perfect! (I ran in shorts today- good decision!!)

8:30

Amy and I will be running from the Y at 8:30 tomorrow, if anyone's interested.

If it's not raining

maybe DeLaney and I will get up a little early and join you if thats OK. I'll check the weather in the morning and call you at 8 to let you know?

Sara, can you and Maggie come?

Not tomorrow

But I am going to try to run with Maggie on Thursday. I think the plan is to meet at the Y at 8:15. I am going to drive up the lab and meet people there around 8:30 so I do not have to run on Route 3 with the stroller. You interested?

Yes, but

I also have tentative plans to run with Shannon that day. Wonder if she can do 8:30?

Yes, I shouldn't run on Rt 3 with the stroller either, I should park at the Lab too.

7 from the Y

with Karen, Holly and Marion. I ran in shorts, too.

Wasn't it

so nice to run is shorts again? I loved it! :)

6 miles bike

in 21 minutes. Im getting a little better, I think. Wanted to do more, but DeLaney woke up...

7 miles

plus 100 crunches. I agree, great workout.

No run, but

another 30 minutes each on the Nordic Track and the bike, followed by some core and stretching.

I am so finished with being an Ohio sports fan.

:-(

First Spinning Class

Jean and I had our first spinning class at the Y today. Work but fun looking forward to next week. I have a Cybex class on Wed hope to get some outside miles after while we still have this mild weather. It has been hard to get motivated. I would rather spell it MOTOvated.
Don--Jean

Calling it 5 miles

in the dark, but it was 60 deg. The first half was into the breeze and that kept the sweat down, as soon as I turned, the breeze matched my pace and offered no cooling whatsoever. I wouldn't have thought I'd need to think about overheating in January.

Ohio sports still have LaBron and his Cav's. How 'bout Maryland sports fans, Orioles, Ravens? yikes!

College Basketball

Does Maryland still have good college basketball? Matt and I were talking about March Madness yesterday (he had a business trip to Spain postponed because someone wanted to be in the States for MM). We started to get excited about a pool, but then admitted that we pick teams based on their success in eighties and nineties. Of course, the Orioles had some good teams during those years too.

Don't get me started

Do you mean the Cavs who last year had possibly their greatest season ever, only to be swept by San Antonio in the championships? Even the Cleveland players themselves are fed up. LeBron, born and bred in Tribe country, wore a Yankees cap at the Indians game. Oh, and don't forget about our entire football team slinking off in the dark of night ten years ago. The reason the Ravens aren't doing very well is because they are actually Cleveland Browns in disguise!

Humbug.

In my opinion, the only Cleveland team worth watching is the St. Ignatius JV Hockey team, which, thanks to my sister's treadmill rosaries, is currently undefeated.

Sara

I think he heard you the first time!:)

4.5 more bike miles

after DeLaney went to bed. I hate to leave a task unfinished...so 10.5 for the day. :)

5.6

row and run combination at tug boat pace.

Maryland has good lacrosse and horse racing. I am not going to watch March Madness until the NCAA selection committee admits that Georgia Tech was robbed!

Thanks Frank

Go Yellow Jackets!

mileage

all of my runs have been hill workouts this year
going down hill on waxed boards
and uphill doing sit/ups on a chairlift
once in a while i will ride the t-bar to work on my core / balance
but mostly i ride it to see all the hotshot snowboarders fall and get dragged uphill by the lift ( it gets my heart rate up chasing Stephen over the jumps then i go in the lodge to refuel
Belgrade 4.5m is Sat. if anyone wants to go so far it looks like Ginger, Karen and Robin and me if i can make it past the Hermon exit .

Foxridge 5 - almost forgot ...

... what running was like. Good to be trotting around again. Vanessa ran 2 and we walked 2 more. My first run since 12/30. I slid in 80 mins on the ET and some weights yesterday. That stomach thing is gone and food, especially chocolate is fun again. Yeehaw! Life is good in the neighborhood.

Tom

It looks like it's just you, Robin and I. Check your e-mail.

call me

we have to figure out when to leave i vote for 4am

I'll stay

home then.

6 in the dark

with Shannon after work. It was a tough run to dress right for--there were warm pockets and cold pockets on Bayview, I think due to the snowmelt and fog. Speaking of which, headlamps don't do much for visibility in thick fog, do they?

of course not

the light reflects in the water droplets and goes right back at you :)

Foggy here too, it made driving to the pool pretty scary this morning.

Same six that Mark said

but the what to wear was easy--white. We were hard to see in the fog. : )

intervals on the treadmill

i'm having a bit of a time figuring distance and speed and time all at once. The preset program would work fine except that it adds hills to the intervals...ahahh. So I am hand-set the speed and then clock the time. 10 x 400 @ 2:15.
