weather bug

looks like I should be fine to drive to the island this afternoon - it's the snow later I'm worried about (weather.com says we're supposed to get snow late this evening). Snow snow stay away, come again some other day!

I can't wait to see you all.

stationary bike: 30 min; treadmill: 40 min

Well...

Karen couldn't get her moped started this morning so I couldn't do the workout. We'll try again tomorrow.

I was

wondering how it went. Don't worry if you can't make Friday since you are doing 10 tomorrow...Barbara's Mom is not doing well so my plans are up in the air.

Well....

In all honesty, my left calf is sore. I'm going to try again tomorrow if it's 100%. If it's still sore tomorrow, Mark's going to join me on Sat. I should make out pretty well with a great pacer like Mark. I'm not sure if Shannon's coming or not. Anyone can join us:)

Suzanne

thanks being flexible. Let's play Fri. by ear.

Ginger

First, hope your calf feels better.

Second, I have bring Haydn to get his bottom braces on, then run as soon as I get home (hope I have enough daylight left)....so I'll either call or email late this afternoon to see what the plan is for tomorrow.

Have a great day! :)

5 miles

easy.

60+

warmup

40 minute steady state run over hills

cooldown.

Went over to Sargents drive and ran an out and back on the 5 mile course. Started at the finishline and went to mile 1 and then I made it back a couple minutes pace mile 4. Goal was to run steady. Normally on a flat course I'd run somewhere between tempo and marathon pace, so 5:15 range. But over hills I find running steady is usually slower than flat marathon pace and actually feels harder than tempo pace. Coach and I guessed about 5:30 pace, so I started there. After 2 miles things were going very smoothly but I got the worst cramp I'd had in years and fought through that for the next 3 miles. But then I got pissed and ripped the cramp out. I also fine after I run for over a coupe of hours on Sunday that Tuesday I feel great but Wednesday I feel pretty tired. I almost did this workout last night, because I felt so good, but by the time I thought about doing the workout I was already an hour into my run and that would have made it close to 2 hours and I didn't need that after Sunday's run. But from now on I'm planning my workouts on Tuesday's after I do the longer runs. It's like my body hasn't had time to get tired yet come Tuesday, but by wednesday I feel beat. Weird, but the last 6 weeks I've felt like this and Tuesday workouts go really well and I feel strong and Wednesday ones go ok with me feeling really tired. Still, if the worst workouts I'm having are because I'm a little tired, I cannot wait to rest up for when I get my rematch against Mr. Vermont in a few weeks.

Today's splits were 5:29, 5:29, 5:35, 5:39, 5:37, 5:26, 5:22. Then 1:23 more to make 40 minutes. not too bad considering at 15 minutes I wanted to stop with that cramp.

had to re/read

I read you post quickly and at first I thought you said you had a
cramp and stopped to pee and "thought that is not a cramp but a stone instead " that is about the extent of my medical training

and Ginger tried to get me to make the call last night but i did not fall for it

6 miles TM *not a workout I promise* lol

1 mile warmup, 4 miles with playful surges at all different speeds to keep it fun, 1 mile cooldown.

I don't know how you did it with that cramp, Judson. OUCH.

Easy

I thought of about 10 runners I'll need to battle with at New Bedford and just because I was having a bad day didn't mean I was going to give up.

Plus for whatever reasons I find steady state runs over hills hard. I really like marathon pace, tempo and progressive runs. But those are usually over flat courses while most of the tie my steady state runs are either around eagle lake, schooner head loop, the cape road and the long pond fire road or sargents drive. But as hard they may be, they make me really strong.

I like that

and it's true....the things that are hard, and that we battle through, definitely make us stronger. You inspire us all. :)

5m around Ridgecrest

Got to run with Melissa and Caroline today. My legs were feeling leaden but got perkier around 3m. It's beautiful here today. Life is good.

9 miles

with 5 x 1 mile @ MP...or as close as I can get to it these days.

Hope the meeting is going well!

I was wondering that myself

What happened to the live feed?

Actually I fell asleep with the kitten around my neck.

Leave it to Ginger to call and wake me up.

Someone's got to do it!

It was a great meeting. Our V.P is extremely positive and ran a very smooth, upbeat meeting. Food was great, company was great and we covered a lot (I think,) I don't go to a lot of meetings.

Agreed

and I sometimes have more meetings than hours to actually get things done in a day. Props to our VP and other officers--it takes a lot of work to prep for and run a good meeting.

Yes,

Shannon was terrific, but her children were even more impressive.

5k on the rower

easing back in.

Glad to hear all went well at the meeting. Many thanks to Shannon for pulling it all together.

Ginger

We agree 100%.

I will type tonight, as I hand-wrote them yesterday. Ginger even helped a little.

Do those get posted here under Club & Site, emailed to officers, emailed to all present at the meeting...?
