Calling All of Eden's Male Boston Marathon Runners

Want to run as a Team member for Eden at the Boston Marathon? If you've qualified and have signed up to run the Boston Marathon, please e-mail me at scalder@vtisp.com stating you want to be on Eden's Team. Signing up as a team member doesn't affect your individual designation or results. I should know your age on the day of the marathon (less than 40 or 40+). We should have enough runners for an Open Male Team and a Masters Male team. I will be contacting many of you via e-mail and asking permission to list you as a team member, but if you don't hear from me please contact me.

Shannon is the taking care of the female teams and she knows most of those that are running. If you haven't communicated your desire to Shannon, please try to contact her.

Web Master, please post this message near the top of Eden's Home page for a few weeks.

Keep running!

Runners To-date 3/8/08

So far for the Open Men's we have:

Hougan, Matthew
King, Ryan
Tunney, Tim

And for the Master Men's:

Calder, Steve
Johnson, Kevin
Painter, Dave
Roussell, Dick

That's a great exciting line so far! Let me know if you're still out there ... Go, EDEN!

Coach Shannon, how's your team shaping up?

Keep running!

Looks like a swift crew..

Good to have R. Roussell on the Eden team. Hope to see you at some races and club events on the island this summer.

Ha! I'm not a coach

but our team is pretty much formed. Right now all seven of us are in the open team:

Amy P
Michele G
Paula Jean
Shannon
Julie
Amy T (kindly offered up by her husband yesterday. : ))
Mary

We could split up or just run it as a pack; so far, nobody on the team seems to care a whit how we do it--we'll all have fun.

This is a pretty big crew headed down for eden, and I haven't even asked one more person who I'd like to include if she's interested. So maybe we'll have even more girls than guys by the start date!

hmmm...

...a couple of us are masters...does that mean we should split up??? My training's been sporadic at best since I've gotten back to Florida ~ lots of cross-training with a massive amount of work on our 3.6 acres trying to fix a major drainage/flooding problem, but very little running...you may want to drop me off your team!

Stop that!

Nobody is getting dropped, no matter how much you beg. : ) I just did this neat little activity yesterday, lots of fun--it's called running. I performed nearly a half mile of the foreign exercise and I may even try to do it again today. I think of the seven girls going, at least five of us have been knocked out of commission for ten days or so. We're all going for fun, remember? Doesn't matter if you're following a running schedule or not.

But, if you want to have a masters' team, I'm more than happy to set one up. Five of the seven can be masters runners if they so choose. Which means, one of you has to be kicked out of masters to be on the open team if we're dividing up! : )

Boston

Am I in over my head with this group??

Certainly not. : )

Hey do you want to be split into two teams? Just remember that I'm stealing one of you for the open team.

Julie

You're a natural athlete, you proved it at MDI. Go out there and take one mile at a time. 5 hrs. 4 hrs. 3 hrs. It doesn't matter, you're running this one for fun and you need to reserve some energy for me after the race. So I'll be a little disappointed if you run too fast.

I've learned a lot from you. I'm taking your advice, and will run Sugarloaf for fun too. However, (hopefully) I'll be in shape to run a strong marathon and have fun doing it. Well let's get real, if the last 10k is fun, something's wrong.

thanks, girls!

We'll see how the body holds out...I've heard about a few beer stops so I can carbo load...

Natural athlete? I don't think so...but THANKS!!!

Austin is our latest ...

team member of Eden Men's Master at Boston!

Is there anyone else out there?

Keep running!

Eden at the Boston Marathon

My friend's place of business has okayed Eden to hang out before the race as we have done in previous years. Also, we can gather & take the bus together from Boston if you'd like. So here's the suggested schedule: Meet near the Boylston T stop at the corner of Tremont and Boylston Street. Because the race is 2 hours earlier (like last year) let's meet at 6:30 am. As soon as everyone shows up or by the latest 6:45 we'll get in line togther to board the buses. Last year at 7 it was way too crazy.

When we arrive in Hopkinton at the High School we can check out the Athlete's Village and then head to my friend's place of business, Power Line Models (PLM), 25 Main Street (they also own 35 Main St. & the buildings are next to each other) usually near Bin 7 or 8 at the start. I believe the building is white (or grey) with pillars in front. PLM's phone number is (508)435-9377 -- please don't call unless it's a emergency!

The clothes you want at the finish you might want to put onto the bus before heading to PLM or you'll have to walk back to the buses before the start (always an anxious few moments). Otherwise, I will have a bag to fill at PLM that I will pick up the following week. Then the next time I meet up with Eden folk or go up to the island, I will get the stuff back to someone in Eden.

Keep running!

see you there

This is great Steve. After a weeks worth of travel, I am thrilled for any pre-race comfort advantages
