Happy Napping Day!
Zzzzzz...
Susannah B. won another ultra this weekend, the Way Too Cool 50K, in Cool CA. She set another CR, and won an entry to the Western States 100-miler in June. Some prize.
Congratulations, Susannah!
If you are lurking and reading this... will you write a race report? Please?
not to forget she was the winner of the 2006 Flat Top 5K
which is being held this year on March 29 at 10 am for anyone that has not already heard
Robin's mail box is overflowing daily
so you can also send apps. to Tom kirby 36 Holt Drive Ellsworth Maine 04605 ( I get my mail 3 hours before Robin gets home to check hers )
and don't forget to have people at the Eden table set up on race day at the Lamoine school with club info.
with the time change, the Eden site clock is correct!
Congrats to Susannah!Wow Joan Samuelson,Susannah,Emily Levan,Sheri Piers,Kristin Barry,Christine Reaser,Carry Buterbaugh....the list goes on.Maine has an impressive women's field.
DeLaney is sick, so it will be a day of snuggles. I hope Shannon was right when she said my family was due for some good luck soon...
Congrats, Susannah! Awesome!
I inadvertently managed to match today: black shorts (the pair I wore for the MDI marathon that fit again... it is the running version of "skinny jeans" :D) and a pink sports bra and pink socks. And my cycling shoes are black. What's the point if you don't look good doing it! Anyway, legs feel a little shelled from the pavement yesterday.
run: 6.3 at 6!!!! bike: 60 min trainer
Stroke felt really good but I decided I'd best baby a slightly-too-achy supraspinatus (maybe levator scapulae, I'm not sure which 'tis) muscle.
It's the right thing to do but it was sooo hard to get out... I felt good and I am SO motivated to train right now. Actually, maybe it's not motivated I am feeling, but half-iron lust. How many days til MOOSEY!
at least this is easy to ice, I just have to put a bag of frozen veggies on top of my shoulder. Icing lats or rhomboids is much harder...
I love ice.
a 2M w/u and 2 miles at just under MP. It felt good just to do some running after a week hiatus with a calf pull. No pain but the calf felt a little tight at the end. Some stretching followed by legs Nautilus and an ab workout.
Congtratulations, Suzzanah.
Keep running!
I have been thinking of you and wondering how that calf was. Glad you got a run in and no pain! :)
Suzanne must have used it all up yesterday. Oh well, it's done, and that's that.
Welcome back to Running Land, Steve! Judson, hope you are A-OK.
Time for my nap!
I take them all the time. My grammy was always saying that I reminded her of my grampy. He was a pro at napping. Every time there were some chores that needed to be done, he'd say it was time for a nap!
Yep, that was a good run by Susannah B. yesterday. Just think what her time would've been if she hadn't stopped to take a nap though!
Go team!
are naps and meals! I'd make a great baby, I bet! I like to avoid chores and nap instead, too! Pr's are pretty exciting too.
I routinely won the "Good Napper" award in kindergarten.
Judson was right, the miles have caught up with me. My body doesn't hurt, my legs just feel like lead and I was too hungry to go further than 7. 10 min. pace on the dot, and that was with everything I had. Poor Amy was bouncing around like a kangaroo out there this morning, it was very gracious of her to go easy on me:) I'm happy that she's feeling better and her energy is back.
You ran 60 instead of 50 last week AND you ran 8 days in a row!! You need to save your energy for your Anniversary Celebration! hehe Seriously, we know how injuries/aches/pains can sneak up so suddenly; be careful. :)
I would like to nap today, unfortunately when DeLaney has one I think I need to mop my floors....:(
mop the floors. Go to sleep! It's healthier, besides you might slip on the slippery floor, hehehheh- I'm so funny!
so I posted it twice:)
Body is out of whack because you are doing less. But this allows you to recover from all the hard training and this kind of cycle will help launch you to a new level. When you go from 60 miles a week to 40 it's really amazing how bored you can get and the body doesn't like it at first because it's different Within a few days of rest your body has gone through running withdrawal and has rebuilt itself and thus risen to a new level.
are part of the reason I hate rest days :D
have that problem maybe it is because i don't train to begin with so i never have to worry about off days
while not missing the cape hills at all.
make you stronger. : )
Shannon - I was thinking the same thing - so I ran a quick loop to the ocean. Glad I did - Stockton's very own Wyman's Boxing Club was open for a round or two.
"a quick loop to the ocean"
including some overly ambitious 800s. Tom gave me something to read that said I was capable of half mile repeats on 2:56, with 90 seconds rest. My treadmill only goes 3:00 as its fastest option for a half mile, but that seemed like a good thing to me. After the fourth one --where I was willing to make any deal possible to stay on the blasted machine--I rested three minutes and did the last two 800s on 3:09, keeping the longer rest. That was hard. I guess the author of Tom's book doesn't realize there are some of us out here that are just stubborn during races and don't work that hard day in and day out.
Suzanne, mop your floors while DeLaney is awake; she'll get a kick out of chasing you and the mop around. And I'm really happy to hear your calf is cooperating Steve!
for the edenometer--with Dasher--we both are recovering from injuries so we are taking it slow. Nice to be outside in the sun, even if it was a little cold:)
how did the brace work out? was it any help at all
I meant to thank you for letting me use the brace--my computer crashed last week and we just got it back with a new hard drive in it. The brace seems to be helping my knee problem--my calf is still a little sore in the back but I am going to ice it and try to massage it. Hopefully it will help the tendon. I having been running short distances to test it out and the brace helps my knee alot. Thanks again. Also the chocolate was really good that day too!
row/run combo.
Congrats Susannah and good work at the Way too Cool! Looks like you had a bit of a group to run with, or did you all come together over the final mile or two? Bob B. and I will take some credit for "helping" you through one of your long runs last summer.
Good to see you back to running, Steve.
Go Wildcats!
Back to the mill. Felt a little under the weather like I have for most of the last week so I cut it a bit short in hopes of keeping my immune system active but not overstressed.
did I run you too hard yesterday? Man, I'm glad you ran with me yesterday and not today, I was dragging today.
I think the run was just what I needed. I'm almost positive that without runs like the ones this weekend I'd be sick for sure, but I'm still fighting the good fight.
Judson and Suzanne are right. Your legs deserve to be tired, but they'll build back stronger than ever if you let them recover now.
Almost 100%.
I just ate my first real meal since last Tuesday. It was so good. I was getting sick of chicken noodle soup and crackers. Nothing like a big plate of pasta, some hamburgers, peas, broc., and mash potato. Oh, I'm headed back for seconds now, bye.
I plugged your mileage into the Edenometer. I figured you covered at least 14.5 miles.
Use 6:30 pace for your base level. I wasn't going 6:12 pace, not today at least.
treadmill is repaired.A rep called and it did not require new parts he walked me through it.Required a couple wires in the deck correctly connected to the circuit board then diagnostics on the console. After a bunch of key presses a virtual technician took over performing a bunch of tests.Everything checked out.I have nothing but good things to say about Sole Fitness customer service they were on top of it the whole time sending new parts via Fedex and returning my calls/questions immediately.I would recommend the Sole F-85 folding treadmill to anyone interested in owning a machine designed for serious running, priced reasonably and does not consume much floor space given the folding feature. At $2,000 you get big bang for the buck.Website soletreadmills.com
