Guten Morgen die Leichtathleten Eden whew...
I am disappointed in the Commons. The menu said banana oatmeal pancakes, which happen to be delicious. I was very much looking forward to banana oatmeal pancakes, but when I went to breakfast the pancakes looked suspiciously like chocolate chip. It turns out that they didn't have any bananas and thought that chocolate chip pancakes were an okay substitute :P they didn't taste nearly as good.
(Whining over. I know, I know, somewhere in Africa there are children starving and complaining about chocolate chip pancakes just makes me sound spoiled)

Arms were really sore - I shook that out quickly then just felt weak. Stroke is good though. Orono this AM, Portland tonight - Boston tomorrow.
in about an hour & includes a 1/4 walk w/u and a few 1/4M pick ups at the end. Finished off with a stretch.
Keep running!
through the towns and fields near Warden. Tired legs, but a few 1/4 miles at speed.
inside today. Some with Amy and some on the tread. Hey Suzanne, are we on for 9:30 tomorrow? I'll bring Bozo, often times there are some starting, stopping, dancing, and gymnastics moves incorporated into my runs with Bozo, but maybe you could run circles around us if we get too wild.
I just emailed you, too! DeLaney and I will be at the Y at 9:30...can't wait to meet Bozo! Fun!
it sucked the life out of me but I have a better feeling about this one than I did the last one.
And really... I can't get a worse grade, right?
:D
one more class. The getaway vehicle is PACKED!
9.43 miles. Checked out some trails today. Some of them are great, others are not even close to being thawed out, but it was nice to just get out and enjoy a nice day. Amazingly most of the trails on MDI are on the USATF mapping website so measuring my run was as easy as measuring my runs on the roads.
Ginger another run later so you can wait to post my miles.
My 21st birthday is next Thursday and at some point in the day, I want to come run Eagle Lake. It'll be part of my birthday triathlon :D which from now on I'll refer to as "Tri 21"
p.s. maybe 6 at 6? well I want to run 21k but it could start as 6 at 6
21st, wow, I only remember parts of my 21st birthday. I'm not going there. Ginger, I'll tell you later since you like to know cap like that.
Eagle Lake, parts are probably ok, but I bet most of it are not runnable. Probably be another couple of weeks, if not more.
Don't worry, 6 at 6's start mid April or when the carriage roads open.
I'll be waiting.
5.28 miles.
Another nice run outside.
can help me celebrate if you want. I'd love company. Think we can get Brian to come too? And anyone else who wants to get up early and run! If EL isn't clear we can find somewhere else, but I want an island run to be part of my birthday.
I got completely smashed in NYC on my 21st b-day.First we stopped by Manny's music store so I could check out all the brand new drum sets I could not afford and the wall of fame, autographed photos of famous bands that have bought equipment at Manny's over the years.Best signed photo was Keith Moon's with his comment "thanks for all the dud gear".Around 11:00am the libation began.First McSorely's Ale House for several beers then Hard Rock Cafe and Long Island ice tea's.A lethal mixed drink and at 21 I was not wise to pacing myself.Suffice to say the night ended early ha,ha.
alcohol has negative effects on bone density and I don't need to create any more skeletal problems for myself. I also have a fear of feeling out of control, so the thought of getting drunk absolutely terrifies me.
Running, swimming, and cycling will be MUCH more fun.
you get roaring drunk on your b-day by any means. That was my tale of young foolishness.A workout and a big piece of cake is as fun as several beers depending on who is celebrating. It's relative.A few drinks on occasion will not adversely effect bone density although long term abuse of alcohol certainly can.Have a great celebration.
I'd say party on Garth.
Party on Wayne.
Party on.
iced teas at the Hard Rock in NYC....fun!!! :) (They are so good if made properly, but then again that makes it easy to overindulge!) :)
At the gym for lunch and after work to do some ellipticals, ab work, and weights. After the intervals yesterday, I decided to use today as my off-day for running.
Also, thanks Chris for getting me on the Edenometer! I've put in my miles so far for the week.
I'll see you at Flat top.
9.21 miles
Breezy but beautiful out. :)
Great to be running outdoors, but it always takes me a while to remember what to wear at what temp. Today I was WAY overdressed!
I hear ya. I set out and was relieved to see Jimmy at 40 min in, so I could shed a layer!
My one running opportunity was before work. It's amazing how nice it was outside after lunchtime today, but was really really nasty before 7 am. So 4 more on the mill, just running easy. Good first run in new shoes.
I hear you've run the Pineland Farms Trail Challenge...would you recommend it?
Yes, I would. In fact I'm strongly considering running the 25k this year. I see it has a new 50 miler too now, so there will be all sorts of folks on the trail.
I thought it was a well-organized event on a good course. It's challenging but on an easy trail, if that makes sense. Good footing for the most part, no huge hills, and wide trails make it pretty straightforward for a trail run, but it's still very tough with a lot of energy sucking grass, sidehill, roller coaster ups and downs. I was worried about the staggered starts before I ran the 50k in '06, but the wide and generally ankle-friendly trail makes it pretty easy to run side-by-side and/or pass people most places. And the post-race bbq gathering in the field next to the finish line is very nice as well.
not the 50k, but anything that's not on pavement would be kind on my legs.
My other daughter just came down with the flu today so my husband is avoiding us all like we're toxic. Smart man, but I think I'm 100% past the illness. So I have no excuse for why I had such trouble with the tempo run today. I guess my body has just forgotten how due to months of ignoring that kind of running. Like Alyie's chemistry test, the next one will certainly be better.
if it's what I had it took about 10 days after I got better before I was fairly normal again. Even now I'm still under weight and coughing up stuff and it's been weeks since I was sick.
Did you see what happened when I tried to run a 1/2 marathon right after I was sick. I was running near people who shouldn't have been a mile and a half near me most days.
Rest up, you'll get back.
we all know you're just a rickety old man now. Wait, that must make Karen?? Oh boy, I'm out of here!
You're such a comedian. Wait until Flattop. This old man is going to run back and drag you to the finish.
you'll probably be too tired to run sub 7 min. pace.
be getting ready to come check on Suzanne and me? It won't be pretty out there today, I have an age group award I need to win.
Squeezed in a visit to the mill on lunch break. I'm feeling good about my running despite it being sporadic (i.e. low milage) and so much of it on the machine.
Good to see you posting again.
