Go run in the snow.

3 miles

with speed segments. Who has the 4mo to a 4 hr marathon book? Can someone give me the schedule for 4 hr training section. This Sat is 3 weeks before the marathon. I have jotted down...only 3 miles at 10:40 a mile. Is that supposed to be 23 miles? that's a big difference. I was supposed to run 21 two weeks ago..if that helps.

I think

Sara had that book last.

Judy

stop by Galyn's today, I'll give you my book.

Judy

I just read further. Sorry, I'll try to figure it out, and email you later.

Judy,

I do remember having to run 23 miles as the final long run with that training program. I have to go to work but I'll figure it out and get to a computer on my break.

Ginger says

23 miles between 10:40-11:10 pace.

She's at work but wanted to tell you.

Honestly, that's crazy. I'd say a run of 3-3 1/2 hours is plenty. If you run 23 miles at 11 minute pace you are on your feet for over 4 hours.

Mere mortals

Welcome to our world!

I'm serious

It's not that it may take someone 4,5, or 6 hours in the marathon, it's that running at any pace for over 3 1/2 hours has more cons than pros. But do what you want. If the book tells you to do something, by all means.

ya, Judson's lucky

he only have to suffer for 15 min. tomorrow. I think there should be "The Longest Sufferer Award." I know I'm a dork, no one else has to to tell me.
Okay, back to work. I already got into trouble once today at work, thanks to Judson, and now I'm late.

Get to it, girl

You need to make a ton of cash, for my fancy lunch tomorrow!

Hey

you called me. I wouldn't call you at work.

If someone called me at the restaurant they'd get laughed at and then the phone would go dead.

Stairs, Baby!

The 27 floors in 4:55, 4:17, 4:30, and 4:25. Abs & a quick stretch.

Keep running!

Better

keep doing those stairs if you want to be ready for Mount Washington. Then have a bag put over your head and have someone beat you with a stick. Like they told me at the start, it's only one hill. 7.6 miles worth. Talk about suffering. I ran 10:00 pace right on the dot. It was nice to see you with a mile to go.

Snow Running

Hope you're all getting out early before the snow gets down that way. I was out at 6:15 and we already had a couple of inches to run through. 7-miles with hills, did a little spinning! Hey, Judy, I'm doing a 9-week marathon plan. Let me know if you would like the last three weeks of that plan if you can't find yours, it's pretty easy. Man, I couldn't imagine training for 4-months; that's dedication.

Thanks Paula

I have the book at home, it's just that I just have time to run tomorrow in the Frankfurt airport hotel exercise room tomorrow morning before my flight..not a long run mind you, but some. And I wanted to know what I needed to plan for on Sunday as I won't be home until Sat night. I'll be fine. I've seen that '3 miles' on the calendar for a while, and I've been thinking that it should be 23 miles, that I made a typo(not that I necessarily want to do 23 on Sunday).

Judy 4 Hr marathon

Week 14 for For the 4:15 Time 24 miles 10:45 to 11:15 pace--
for the 4:30 time 24 miles 11:50 to 12:20 pace--
for the 4:45 time 24 miles 12:22 to 12:52 pace--
for the 4:00 time 3 miles 10:40 to 11:10 pace--
I put the 4 hr on the bottom as it didn't seem right to do only 3 miles when all the other times had to do 24 but that is what was in the book.

Judy 24

Judy if you are going to do the 24 Sunday Jean is saying she is up to doing ??? I will do the same as the last long run as the waterboy.
Need to go earlier than last time. Give a call Sunday AM.

Jean--Don

Thanks everyone

you can see why I was thinking I was crazy. I like Judson's idea of just running for time...:) Jean and Don, I'll call Sunday am. I'm due home 9 pm or so Saturday if all goes well.

Steve Volunteer

We got our Marathon Volunteer Assignment. We will be doing Sunday AM
Registration. Will we see you there?

Jean--Don

3 easy miles and

some strides, too.

I'm ready for tomorrow.

Vigorous ellipticals

today - 30 minutes @ 65-70+ steps/minute, level 12-18.

Heel feels a little sore after blowing out the back of the right shoe during my 7-mile run yesterday. Got some new Asics DE Trainer XI's which feel great, plus I think they'll count as a 'blaze orange' article of clothing during hunting season. :)

Looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

shoes

Nice selection in shoes. I've been trying to get Ginger to try those.

Got a great deal

on those shoes, they were 50% off at Sportshoe in Bangor. I didn't even need to use my coupon that I got from the Kerrymen race.

race up/date

it looks like the snow will not be a problem the roads are wet but no snow build /up as of 2:30 pm today
I will get up at 3 am and check /and shovel or use my wife's hairdryer to clear the course ( i saw that on a Nascar race a couple of weeks ago) maybe i will get Stephen to ride in the van with the side door open using my leaf blower if that fails DARLINGS has a
lot of snow moving equipment that we can use if we need to , but the race will go off at 10 am or my name is not Ginger King !!!!!

we are setting up at the school tonite after meeting at Robin's house at 7pm for race cake if anyone wants to come by and help /or eat we should be done by 8:30

and will set up banners at 6/6:30 tomorrow and have the school open for reg. a little after 7ish
The x Gov. of New York has called
twice after finding put Ginger was (working the EDEN table before the race ) i told him that she has danced on tables before, but i did not think it was the same thing as he has been used to all he kept saying was tell me i am client #### 9 ( what ever that means

studs

I'll just bring my studded shoes.

you know

it makes me a little nervous to see my name thrown around so often on this board.

Tom

It sounds like the stress of directing a race may be getting to you. I'll be there whatever the weather.

P.S. Shame on you for teasing Ginger when she's at work and unable to defend herself.

Hmmm....

Or is she at work?

I think

She just wants Suzanne to think she's working a double.

Yeah

She's tricky....yesterday during our run she kept mumbling something about age group awards and then she kept trying to trip me....

Good luck Brian in Boston at Masters USATF

and to all the Flat Top runners!

4.5 mi + 1300 scy

Didn't want to swim today, I did get a nice run in at Harvard's indoor track. Nice and soft!

Only race today was a 400 medley relay, I swam free, it was ok.

Since you're down there check

Since you're down there check out the Triathlon expo at MIT on Sunday. Opens at 10 am I believe. I'd go if I could but . . .

Looks like good stuff

yeah

I don't know if I can get away from the meet for that long but if I'm not having fun tomorrow... maybe I will escape :D

Running Can Make You High

Looking at the snow from a mill in the hotel fitness center in NH.

It wasn't a big trip, but I travel so seldom these days I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I feel a little tired and out-of-kilter at the moment. I hope I wake up feeling like $1 million tomorrow. I hope to see lots of folks in Lamoine.

74 minutes

10.95 miles. Some strides after.

Amazingly when I got home I had a message on my phone from Ginger letting me know she saw me run by. Since I run that loop a lot this time of year I guess I'll be getting lots of calls.

well

I was bored. Amazingly, huh! Wise guy.

9 pm race up date

the roads are covered with snow /wet slippery
everyone drive careful getting to the race

it looks like with the snow the COUNTY runners will feel right at home!!!!!! we have 4 so far
remember if you are running a little late the kids one mile starts at 9 :30 so traffic will be slowed down on the last 1/4 mile of the course

and remember to hang around for the raffle and awards we hope to start them around 11 ish

1 am road/race report

it has stopped snowing
we have a light covering not enough to really plow ; but the rt is sanded
And I can't get Stephen up to run the hair dryer / leaf blower

next problem since i am up do i go do the paper rt now and sleep in later or get up at 3:45 and do it then like normal

did i really get up at this time to check the roads

No!!!
my mother called at 12:50
she had heard a loud bang and they heard water running in her basement
her water heater had blown a hole in it and started to flood the basement
the drain is working very slowly
so after the race i have to go back and clean up the mess it made
well who needs sleep anyway !!!!!
I don't have to run in the race but just run THE race so i guess i will have enough to do that next report between 5/6 am if anyone really cares to check.

How many red bulls

have you had to get through the night :-)

13.02 miles mill 1:40:57

entire run 2%-4% incline.Gaining momentum getting in shape but past month I have lacked consistency due to mill breaking down. Most likely will not do the 5k in Standish Sun.The mill is working well now as it should given what I paid.Seems the console shorts out when covered in moisture. It does receive a soaking given my workouts.I scotch taped a big food storage bag over the keys on the console and as a result no issues past week.Good luck all in Flattop 5k.
