What's your run?
Good morning. Thinking about not seeing you around here running, I'm thinking it's time to rag on people, myself included, to get some photos on our members/photos sight. I guess I'll try to figure that out when I get home today from Toronto. What a big city this is.
My profile picture is my baby picture. I'm even cuter now.
I love Toronto! Lots of great shopping and restaurants. I hope you enjoyed your time there. Are you running the More Marathon again this year? I kind of surmised that based on your training schedule. It is coming up soon...hope your training is going well.
Yesterday, a guy at the gym asked me "when's your next marathon?" Same question today, from someone else! I smiled and politely explained that I'm a triathlete and my next half-ironman is June 8. Then they ask what a HIM is and I get to explain that - I hope the dreamy look on my face didn't scare them.
And walking home today, I realized that the next time I run a marathon, it will probably be when I decide to do a full IM.
Silly rabbits (trix are for kids!). Run for an hour and the world thinks you're marathon training
ohmygod that felt good, felt easy, felt like a recovery set - my arms were so light after about 150 yards, that's all it took to stroke out the SORE from yesterday, and then it was just calm, easy, I-am-doing-100s-on-1:21-and-it-feels-like-a-recovery set.
My legs went weak first: foot cramps on the 8th repeat and then later, kicking, the second 300 they had nothing. By the dolphin kick lactic acid shuttled from my quads to my hamstrings ohhhh
300 + 6 x 50 on :50 w.u. 21 x 100 on 1:21 (desc 1:14-1:11 and hold the 11s for the last 15) 6 x 50 on :50 2 x [300 pull + 300 kick + 300 swim] 12 x 25 kick alt dolphin/whip
4 x 1m dive 2 x 3m dive
:D
after reviewing the entry forms it has come to our attention that bib #226 female age 35 time of 23:17 place#33 from Otter Creek did not sign her entry form and is now under review as to how she obtained her race entry bib and entering our event and talking the race director (ME) into giving her a hat also .
it is really just an April fools prank 2 days late ( sorry I have been busy)
hahhahha
Feel any different at the ripe old age of 21? Hope you have a wonderful day.
I feel like a princess!
Ian and I are going home tonight (IAN IS COMING HOME!!!!), Zach's coming over, godparents too. Menu is minestrone soup (homemade!), baked potatoes (I asked mom to get the really big ones like Jill made this summer), apple crisp, cottage cheese for me (oooh protein and calcium) and probably something meat-ish for everone else. I am very excited :)
Your catching up with me!
a milestone for sure.Hope the year provides new triathlon pr's.
Enjoy your day!
Hope it's wonderful!
in 51 min. includes 5 x 5min.@8.6mph with 30sec. float @7.3mph, 30sec. sprint @9.5mph, and 2.5 min. @MP (or 7.8 mph). Add some upper body lifting and a quick stretch.
Coach, gave me two workouts, I choose this one.
Happy B-day, Alyie!
Keep running!
I thought I might have done that. I meant to send the other one to Ginger. Whoops.
Jogging around Seal Harbor while Ginger did her hill workout that Steve got. Had to change things a but since Stanley Brook road was still icy in places, but she got a good hill session in up Jordan Pond road and I got a nice run up and down the same hill for 7 miles.
Park was plowing stanley brook road and I wonder if they will plow the rest of the park loop road too. That would be nice.
6.2 miles
Alyie, don't get too rowdy.
I am alternating between excited and just wanting to sleep. I can't wait to get home and take a nap on my couch in the sun :-)
41 minutes. I meant for this to be an easy run day since my calf muscles felt a little tight, but even then I was really sluggish. Hopefully that'll shake off by Saturday. The wind is still a bit rough today, too.
Got the central maine MSBL (baseball) schedule. The season (and my first game) starts on the 4th of May. I can't wait!
in some cold water. You'll feel better. After my run tonight I'm going into the ocean for the first time this season.
Well I'll grab my binoculars because I have a great view of the ocean from Galyn's. I saw the 3 Musketeers running down by the shore path today.
About 8 miles today. 4 mile w/u or so, then hit the hills. Judson and I raced down a hill and (everybody sit down) I beat him.
we didn't actually decide on a finishing point and after 200 meters I stopped, and she kept going. I guess that's beating me.
It's ok, Ginger likes to dream.
the bridge, remember?
The closest body of water to me is the Penobscot, and with the floating icebergs and pollution it just doesn't sound like a good idea today. :)
it's more like torture. But it feels sooooo good. I love how your legs feel after, as they are red and warming up. Oooh I can't wait to be back on the island.
Good news - Ian and Zach are BOTH working at Camp Beech Cliff this year :D
Is that plural when refering to a leg muscle ... anyway, since I've recently pulled both of my calves, I've started taking some time warming up. I start out walking, then an EZ jog, and slowly build up to my desired pace (about a mile's worth of a warm up). I haven't had problems since and it was ordered by my physical therapist. He said that the sheathing (there's an name for it) that wraps your muscles isn't given time to expand. If you don't give it time to warm up by receiving blood flow, the muscle expands quicker than the sheathing and you can damage the sheathing or the muscle itself. So ... take some time to warm up. Cold packs after the run and warm, moist heat for a little while about 8 hours after.
I could have heeded that last November and not aggravated the muscle during the Manchester H-M race.
In this case it's in both legs to varying degrees. My left muscle just feels a bit fatigued and is no real cause for alarm; the right feels more tightened and may need a day off from running (which will happen tomorrow, my gym day).
I'll definitely be putting ice on them this evening followed by some heat and focus on elliptical and upper body exercises tomorrow. Generally one good day of leg rest is enough to get me to 100%.
Steve is a spell checker.
Spotter, did you run the Thanksgiving race in Manchester? Awesome race. Big hill in mile 2.
in the first weekend in November. That was the first (and only race so far) where I injured myself and couldn't finish. Pulled my right calf muscle right where it meets the achilles tendon - might have even been a fibrous tear from the amount of sheer pain I was in. Suffered the injury on mile 5, limped to mile 6 and couldn't take the agony. It was a really humbling experience for me.
Well, sort of. No MP or upper body and the reps were shorter and faster and . . . OK, it's not really like Steve's workout.
Anyway, I warmed up 12 minutes with 2 x 30 second strides, ran 5 x 3:00 at 9.3 with 2:00 recovery at 7.4, warmed down about 6 minutes with 2 x 45 second strides. Felt good after the first one, able to run hard but smooth, and actually ran 4:00 at speed for the final rep. Ended up sneaking just under 44:00 for 6 miles total.
34:15
So, I spent the day in Bangor and then came home to run just a few. It's supposed to be an easy day. I decided not to look at my watch, and was surprised when I saw my average pace afterwards. However, I have really been in a mental funk for about 6 weeks now, and the past couple of days I feel like the fog is finally starting to lift. I know this sounds so silly, and it was only 4 miles, but I just feel like celebrating!!!
First run this year on the towpath! There were a few soggy spots, but it was entirely runnable. Spring peepers and everything!
glad to hear the towpath is open for business, Chris.
With a solid week we'll hit 10,000 miles on the Edenometer.
Happy Birthday Alyie!
6 miles on the Northeast Harbor course. Mile 4 in 5:02 just to break things up.
I casually walked into the ocean down at the pier with about 4 people watching(probably calling the looney bin) and then after a minute ran out. Wow, that's some cold water. Way colder than the New Yeas dip. I thought I was going to pass out from shock. Although I'm a big believer in 7-10 minutes, my legs actually felt really good after a minute in that water. Trick is to do it every day and get used to it again. Takes a few days. I'll be up to 10-minutes by next week.
entire run 2% incline.Have been busy but logged miles in Edenometer.Did 6.5 at Back Cove Tues before work.Running path is in best shape in years.I was surprised and impressed.Crushed stone was used to fill in winter ruts instead of piles of sand used past couple years. It's about time.A great downtown area to run, bike or walk unfortunately neglected in recent past.
Finally got up to 8 for a midweek run, just in time to taper down again. 6 or a little more was done at a decent clip. Still haven't figured out marathon pace. Maybe it'll get decided for me on race day.
