7.5 M

along the riva' with Ryan. It was great to have some Eden company on my morning route. Lots of people were out & about even tho' it wasn't too warm. The warmth will be here later for the Red Sox Opena'.

Ryan says hello to everyone!

A quick stretch and abs, too.

Keep running!

Hello Ryan!

It's funny that it's supposed to be slightly cooler in Boston than it is in Bangor today. I can't wait to get out there to run!

hope

You didn't make Ryan do that stretch routine you do. You're like a rubber band. hurts just watching you do some of those stretches.

Back from Boston

Yes - awesome run with Steve! although he forgot to mention anything about the 3 pickups...

between 3 pm Sunday and 3 pm Tuesday (48 Hours) I ran roughly 30 miles along the Charles River. Enjoyed every mile of it! The Charles River Route (between the BU Bridge and the Science Museum) is a most enjoyable route. Only wished it was a bit warmer out!

Ran the first 5 Miles of the Olympic Trials Route - Saw marks on the road for 5K and the 4M in Blue. Very exciting stuff.

8 miles

Today's towpath wildlife sightings included: lots of squirrels (brown and black), chipmunks, blue herons, Canada geese (mean!), mallards, wood ducks, red-winged blackbirds, hawks, spring peepers (heard, not seen), a couple of deer, one bald eagle nest, one pileated woodpecker, two frogs, and one snake. Something was jumping in the canal, probably fish, but I can't be sure.

Cool!

That must be fun to see! Currently, "squirrel" is one of DeLaney's favorite words...we have one that visits and she loves to watch him through the back door. :)

workout

2 miles warmup, some strides.

2x16-minutes going 1 minute on/1-minute float. On's were HARD, floats at least 6 minute pace. 5 minutes very easy between the 16 minute pieces. Brian kept track of my minutes while he followed me on the bike. Covered over 3 miles going out from town down Schooner Head road in the first 16 minutes. Covered at least 5-k coming back. Stayed in control, in that I hammered the minutes hard right out of the gate with "no forethought of self preservation" and made sure the floats stayed solid. But I could have gone faster if I had too so that's why I say I stayed in control. Saving my reserves for the races.

2-miles cooldown.

So 10+ for the run.

Nice!

:)

Folks

when he says "HARD" he means it. I saw him start to hammer an on going uphill to the Lab, and it was something to see--Brian was pedaling fast to keep up. Sorry I didn't wave or anything, but I didn't want to break your focus!

4 easy miles

with DeLaney. That is my first run of the day. I am greatly looking forward to a run with Kate Goupee this afternoon!

5.42 miles

44:34. Easy run again, as my right leg felt a bit worn out.

I mapped out this route before running it so I could time my splits at a relaxed pace. I made note of the mile markers and what landmarks would be represented by them. I ran the first two miles at a medium-distance pace, the next two miles at long-distance pace, and gradually went faster on the last 1.5. Splits were 7:56/7:58/8:30/8:34/8:14/3:32(8:01).

I want to run a double today but my legs really don't, so I'll take it easy at the gym tonight and see how they feel tomorrow. My original plan was for this to be an off day and speed work tomorrow, but man, the weather is way too nice not to run today.

Oh, yeah,

speaking of secret training. The latest news from ed pms is that he's been running and probably doing a half marathon at the end of the month.

If perchance he's lurking, HI ED!!!

Can you believe

The protesters messing up the Olympic torch relay. They should not be using the Olympics to make there point. If I was carrying the torch for a few miles and someone grabbed it and tried to mess up the process I'd shove that torch up there ass.

I agree

I'm a supporter for a free Tibet and everything, but there's no reason to assault a runner over something political (and obviously not the runner's fault). There's a time and place for this stuff.

Exactly

the way I'm thinking.

There was a good story..

yesterday on NPR about the torch route and the people who have applied to carry it. It may be archived on the NPR site. They profiled a number of people who had gone through the selection process for this honor: a Chinese-American civil rights activist, a man suffering with a debilitating and progressive neurologic disease, a holocaust survivor who had been at attendance at nine Olympic Games. Perhaps the torch carriers should be afforded the same respect as the athletes who will compete in August.

5 more miles...

...with Kate. Wonderful company, wonderful run. :)

Wow

Nice work.

Thanks!

:)

5-miles

5 more miles. Saw a lot of runners including Brian and Pete Palmer.

1/2 mile more...

DeLaney walked our whole circle. It is a distance PR for her! hehe

Run w/ Tom and

I hijacked Michele's run and made her do hills with us. It was fun, and we have zero idea of mileage. Three? Four?

jogging with Jean

we did our 3 mile jog on the Great Loop Trail around Kebo...nice to have any trail time after all the miles on the paved roads this winter. I wore shorts !!!!

Judy

are you going to Indian island with on Sat.

Tom

I'll probably go to Unity.

saturday

Tom, I'm not sure...I'm a week away from marathon and although I'm supposed to do 8 miles at 9 min/mi pace on Saturday, I would do a 5k faster, I know, because it's hard to hold back when 'there you are'. But I broke the coffee mug I won last year and I need another one. But the forecast is for rain. Did I say I'm not sure?

4.5 early

Before work with the frost still on the ground. Started out creaky and sore but felt pretty good at the end. Ran out Ledgelawn to Park Loop Road, then back to town on Kebo and some more looping around.
